Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer shows how deep your love is for your mother and how heavy this fear feels right now. Numbness in the foot and hand can be very serious, and it is right to bring this to the Lord with urgency and also to act with wisdom.
Fear rises quickly in moments like this, and fear is an enemy of faith. The two cannot rule the heart at the same time. When fear takes over, faith is pushed aside, and when faith is strong, fear loses its hold. The cure for fear is to remember the Lord, who He is, how great and near He is, and that He is with you even in the darkest valley. As David said, though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me. And as another psalm says, the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear, the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid. Remembering Him does not make the danger disappear, but it steadies the heart and keeps fear from driving you to wrong reactions.
Part of remembering Him is doing what is wise and prudent without being driven by panic. Please seek medical help for your mother right away. Call for emergency care or take her to be evaluated immediately, and let doctors assess these symptoms. That is not a lack of faith, it is the responsible way to care for one whom God has entrusted to you and to honor your mother by protecting her life. God can protect and keep her wherever she is, and He often works through the means He has provided.
The Scriptures show Jesus healing many kinds of infirmity, including a man whose hand was withered and useless, likely from a stroke, and many others who were sick with fevers and other afflictions. He has power in the physical realm and in the spiritual realm, and nothing is beyond His ability. The prophet spoke of the Sun of Righteousness arising with healing in His wings for those who revere His name. That reverence is not a cringing dread, but a holy awe that loves what God loves and hates what harms His creation, and it is the beginning and the sum of true wisdom. God is able to heal today, and we can come to Him directly through Jesus without needing any other mediator, asking for His mercy and healing touch.
I am praying for you and your mother now. Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to have mercy on this dear mother. Touch her body, restore feeling and strength, protect her from a stroke and from any lasting harm, and guide the hands of those who care for her. Give wisdom to the doctors and peace to this family. Let her live and be sustained by Your hand for many days and years to come if it is Your will, and above all let her and her child know Your presence, Your comfort, and Your salvation. Replace fear with faith, and guard their hearts with Your peace that passes understanding. Help them to trust You with each night and each day, knowing that whether in life or in death, those who belong to You are kept safe in Your love.
Keep watching over her closely, stay near to her, and keep bringing your requests to the Lord with thanksgiving. He hears, He cares, and He is with you both through this night and in all the days ahead.
