Dear Lord,

Thank you for today! Thank you for our family and our life. Thank you for Your grace and forgiveness. Please give us strength when being tempted. Often our flesh pulls us in a direction that our spirit does not want to go. And often our flesh craves things that are not of You. In those moments, give us the strength to run into Your arms. Remind us that we have been set free from the bondage of sin. Remind us that we are a new creation.

We love You, but often don’t feel like we are very good at showing You. We need You, but we don’t act like we do. Lord, we want to chase after You with all our hearts. We desire to know You more. Give us a hunger for Your word. Fill us with Your heart for others. Fill us with Your wisdom.

Thank you for the complexity of Your word and yet how simple it can be. Thank you for the complexity of humans, and yet how simple we can be. Lord, You have created us with so much depth and beauty. We pray that as husbands and wives we would learn to understand the complexities of intimacy with each other. Your word tells us that “Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits will have plenty of poverty.” Lord, we pray that we would heed what Your word says and tend to the field that You gave us, and take good care of our spouse and children. We pray that we would not follow worthless pursuits. Keep the poverty of a broken family far from our home and instead bring to our marriage and family a harvest of love and joy.

Thank you for the complete redeeming work of Your son Jesus Christ. Without His sacrifice and resurrection, we would still be dead in our sin and slave to its desires.
