(Daniel 1:3-8) “Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring into the king’s service some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility—young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king’s table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king’s service. Among those who were chosen were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the...
THE GIFT Do you remember, as a child, peering under the Christmas tree in search of the packages with your name on them? Maybe you had asked for a particular gift, a gift easily identifiable by its size. Your search focused on the presents that would be the “right size†to contain that gift. Maybe you found it and were full of excitement. Or maybe…just maybe…you didn’t. Disappointment flooded into your young heart. You had so hoped that the gift would be there. It was the one thing you wanted more than anything else. And, by the looks of it, you weren’t going to receive it. Sometimes our disappointment in God when it seems our one big request is unanswered, is similar to the disappointment a child feels when the gift he...
DO NOT BE AFRAID! In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom...
ARE YOU EXPECTING YOUR SPOUSE ANYTIME? "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to becalled your son; make me like one of your hired men.' So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filledwith compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him." Luke 15:17-20 Will you have compassion and love for your husband, wife or child when they call or knock on your door, asking if they can come home? Are you waiting, expecting the Lord to bring...
Keeping Christmas in Perspective Christmas has become very commercialized; it has become about buying presents instead of giving. The malls are crowed with people trying to buy their family members and friends the most expensive gifts. That is ok as long as in the center of the season is Christ. You can live on the streets or in the largest mansion and still have the spirit of Christmas in your heart. Christmas is not about gifts; it is about the Giver and His ultimate gift of love. (Isaiah 9:6) “For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.†As long as you have Him in your heart you can...
SAY "MERRY CHRISTMAS" EVERY DAY! For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 Are you getting your heart and home ready to celebrate your Lord’s birthday? Let me suggest you start reading in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John the different Christmas stories about the details of the birth of Jesus Christ. In fact, if you are a parent or grandparent, start reading the different sections in the Bible throughout the month so your children of all ages can truly understand the true meaning of Christmas to everyone. Since this is the beginning of December I would like to challenge you to do...
STRESSED OUT? - SEEK GOD'S PERFECT PEACE! You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal. Isaiah 26:3-4 As you start the month of December you may have already started decorating your home, baking special cookies or you may be climbing a ladder after you offered to put up the Christmas lights at your home for your wife. If you have children, you may have many extra events to attend this month. Are you getting stressed out as you think of all you must do before Christmas? This is a month where you need to talk to the Lord throughout each day asking Him to help set your priorities. He only can give you peace in your busy...
This is more information on how important our job is as parents! Enjoy! Theresa aka Scroggymommy5 TOPIC: GOD’S HERITAGE March 27, 2013 Pastor John Church & Society, 2 TEXT: Psalm 127: 3-5 3. Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. 4. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. 5. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. NIV WHO IS GOD? God is the creator and preserver of the universe who does not live in the house built by man, but oversees the entire universe WHO ARE GOD’S POSSESSION? This is an actual blog that I recently discovered and was truly inspired by! I pray that it touches you deeply as it has mine. I pray for " My Five World Changers" daily, as I'm sure you pray for your children. Enjoy! Theresa aka Scroggymommy5 Sunday, September 26, 2010 Children are an Heritage of the Lord This was the essay that I wrote to help celebrate family on a friend's blog. Most of you have already read this, but for the few of you that haven't here you go.... When I first was asked to write an essay to help celebrate this great month my thoughts immediately went to the scripture that is quoted in the Proclamation which reads, "Children are an heritage of the Lord." (Ps 127:3) As I continued to ponder about this assignment I...
I remember being a very young slim christian girl at church. Fellowship was embraced no matter what your status in life. Everyone was excited about living the bible, it was like we were living in the book of Acts. People were encouraged to give to those in need by the pastor. He was not yet 30 years old himself. People would come in & while we were hugging each other after worship one or two members would press some bills in their hands quietly & walk away. I had that happen to me a few times. When I started to work I did it myself. We worshiped for hours & did not feel the time go. Every service was full through the week. Then, alas, there was a change not for the better. The miracles of healing ceased & people began to die when the...
