A few things are coming to mind as I read your post and all except the physical abuse I can really relate to. I did not take therapy before I got married because I knew I would not have married him. I love him more now than when we got married and that is only because I choose to love him. Well that is part of it. I remember when I was going through some really hard times and I told a friend well look at Hosea's love for Gomer. He stopped me before I could say anything else and told me to go reread it again. Did you know that nowhere in the book of Hosea does it ever say that he loved Gomer? We as always try to add our human perception to make the story make sense. The truth of the matter was that Hosea loved God and was obedient. I...
An elderly lady was asleep in her bed one night, when she was awakened by a strange noise from the living room. Cautiously, she walked in and discovered a burglar in the process of stealing the stereo. Overcome with fear, she whispered a desperate prayer, "Help me Jesus!" The burglar heard her and started towards her. Without a thought she put up her hand and shouted a favorite scripture reference: ACTS 2:38! The burglar immediately froze. The lady dialed 911, and within minutes, police were on the scene, and took the burglar to the police station. As the police were questioning him, one of the detectives said, "I'm curious, you could have ran and got away, why did you stay frozen in that one spot?" The burglar answered, "Man...
JESUS - I AM "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" John 8:58 On this Lord’s Day I pray that you will go to church and worship the King of Kings. Does your church have a Bible Study class on Sunday morning or possibly another night of the week? Be sure to try to attend a Bible study class to learn more about God’s Word and learn how to apply the Bible to your life and marriage. Have you developed a special quiet time with your Lord, reading your Bible and praying every day? I love to read the Bible. But before you start reading God’s Word, ask the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual eyes and ears to hear the Lord’s message for you that day. Ask the Holy Spirit to mold and shape you into the...
PRIDE GOES BEFORE DESTRUCTION Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 Do you know of someone who has pride? You may be thinking of your spouse or someone who is very successful, but I am asking you to search your own heart today. Ask the Lord to reveal to you if you have any pride in your heart that you may not even be aware of during this difficult time in your life and marriage. What is the meaning of pride? The Nelson's Three-In-One Bible Reference Companion says: a conceited sense of one's superiority. In The American College Dictionary the meaning of pride reads: high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as...

BE STILL - KNOW THAT I AM GOD Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.” Exodus 14:13-16 Are you afraid of your future? Does marriage restoration appear to be hopeless? You see no signs of repentance, forgiveness, healing or restoration from your spouse. So what are you to do? Are you thinking of giving up? Are you facing...
In tough times we can doubt that God is really good. We may know it in our heads, but we forget it in our hearts. That’s because, just like His beauty, His goodness is greater than we can imagine. Our minds cannot even comprehend the breadth and the depth of it. That’s why, when we go through bad times, we have to remind ourselves of God’s goodness. Otherwise we too easily forget. The way we keep ourselves reminded of God’s goodness is to read His Word, worship Him as our wonderful Lord, and praise Him for His goodness. It will help us remember that no matter what happens, He is a God of mercy and grace. “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You” (Psalm 86:5). You may be...

THE OLYMPICS ARE OVER! Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1 The Olympics are over! Did you watch any of the different sports that they call disciplines? There were 98 events in 15 winter sport disciplines. What an appropriate word — disciplines! What amazing skills all these athletes had from around the world. You may have heard one or two stories that touched your heart of the many sacrifices the participants, parents and others made, including businesses and towns. May you and I never forget the cost the athletes paid with their strict discipline...
