The Rapture of Believers In a previous section, we discussed briefly the return of Christ. A common term used to describe one of the events surrounding His return is the word "rapture". It refers to the time when Jesus will meet His church in the air. No one can tell us when the Rapture will take place because only God the Father knows. "No one knows, however, when that day and hour will come--neither the angels in heaven nor the Son; the Father alone knows" (Matthew 24:36). But there are signs telling us that the Rapture is drawing near, Jesus said that just before His return there would be an increase in worldliness, wickedness, and violence. False christs and false prophets would arise; there would be earthquakes, famine, and...
"Our Father, hallowed be Your name. It is good to praise the Lord and make music to Your name, O Most High, to proclaim Your love in the morning and Your faithfulness at night. Lord, I cry to You for help, O Lord; in the morning my prayer comes before You. Teach (NAMES) Your way, O Lord, and we will walk in Your truth; give us an undivided heart, that we may fear Your name. We will praise You, O Lord our God, with all our hearts; we will glorify Your name forever. For great is Your love toward us; You have delivered (NAMES) from the depths of the grave. No weapon forged against (NAMES) will prevail. Lord, we know that You are the Lord; those who hope in You will not be disappointed. Lord, let (NAMES) forsake their ways and their...

God is so good he always send some form of confirmation when i am trying to do right. this was one of my devotionals for today and it is so right on time as we spent this week praying for the OP Forgiveness by Max Lucado from You'll Get Through This Revenge builds a lonely house. Space enough for one person. The lives of its tenants are reduced to one goal: make someone miserable. They do. Themselves. No wonder God insists that we “keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time†(Hebrews 12:15). His healing includes a move out of the house of spite, a shift away from the cramped world of grudge and toward spacious ways of grace, away from hardness and...
"The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God" (2 Cor. 4:4). Gracious Lord, we ask that You would remove the blinders that keep ________ from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ! "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day" (John 6:44). Wonderful King, would You draw ____________to Yourself? Please cause his/her/their heart(s) to be stirred by Your Spirit, so that he/she/they know(s) who You are! "When he (the Holy Spirit) comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment…" (John 16:8). Heavenly Father...
Prayer of Spiritual Protection The Prayer of Hosea (Hosea 2:5-7) is one of the most powerful prayers in the arsenal of spiritual warfare - the Hedge Prayer. Hosea’s wife, Gomer, led a life of adultery. Hosea was convinced that he should not divorce her and to pray for her return. Hosea’s unconditional love for Gomer is a picture of God’s unconditional love for His people. The reason Hosea didn’t give up on his wife when the pain was at its most intense is because His love was greater than his pain. God gave us this story to illustrate to us that the proper way to think toward a prodigal is to remember that spiritually, we are often the prodigal. God’s love toward us is the foundation of our love for the prodigal. This prayer...
CBN.com -- The first person you probably have not forgiven is yourself. I think that more people have a lack of forgiveness toward themselves than toward anybody else. They are unwilling to forgive themselves and to recognize that God says, As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12). If you are a believer, He has already cleansed your conscience from dead works so that you might serve the living God (Hebrews 9:14). God cleanses us for service so that we are not left with the guilt of past sin. That should be dead, buried, and forgotten. People must forgive all who need forgiveness. If the first person to forgive is yourself, you need to say, God, before You, I forgive myself...
CBN.com – “I hate myself,†Barbie said as she wiped tears from her eyes. “I hate myself for being in prison when my mother died.†“Your mother was a godly woman,†I said. “She’s at home in heaven and forgave you long ago.†“But I haven’t forgiven myself,†she moaned. “I’m full of guilt and shame.†Pete suffers from the pain of divorce. He relives all the things he said and did that destroyed the relationship. As a single parent, he senses the pain his children endure going from one parent’s home to the other, especially over the holidays. Judy struggles with health problems because of poor eating habits and a lack of exercise. Harry is a recovering alcoholic but his drinking days left him with hepatitis C...
Get Out of Your Boat! But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.†And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.†He said, “Come.†Matthew 14:27-29a (ESV) A rather frightening scene... the disciples are a long way from shore, the winds are battering them, the waves are tossing them, it's hours until dawn and they can probably barely see through the spray and the darkness. These circumstances breed fear, uncertainty, perhaps hopelessness in them. And then, from the storm, from the darkness comes His voice... "Come." Often times, our stand for our marriage may seem similar to this story in Matthew. We may not be able to see the "shore" of marriage...
