Where is your faith? Luke 8:25 25 And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?" This passage of scripture occurred during a storm at sea. Jesus had said to His disciples, "Let's cross to the other side of the lake." During the crossing, a storm came up. Jesus was asleep in the boat while His disciples were frantic with fear of drowning if the boat capsized. They "woke" Jesus up telling Him they were going to drown. Jesus awoke, rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly the wind and waves calmed. Jesus then looked at His disciples and asked them "where is your faith?" He did not admonish them for...
"Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."—Matthew 17:19-21. The disciples could not cast out the demon and Jesus told them it was because of "their unbelief". He did not say they had no faith or a weak faith. The apostles had previously been casting out demons. Luke 10:17-18 17The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." 18And He said to...
Matthew 8:9-10 …9 "For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, 'Go!' and he goes, and to another, 'Come!' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he does it." 10 Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, "Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel. Jesus commended this Roman Centurion's great faith and said He had not found its equal in Israel. The Pharisees who studied the scriptures more than anyone in Israel were never commended for their faith, either weak or strong. The Centurion knew what authority was about; he understood authority. He learned this about authority by rising through the military ranks of...
Unless we can be true to ourselves first, how can one be true to others... "To thine own self be true"...how profound. Perhaps to many struggle with this. Those that have given their life to another at the cost of losing who they are in the process will have a hard time being true to ones own self. Allowing someone or something else to define who we are, we may lose our ability to discover and grow spiritually, and no longer able to discern a truth from a lie or deception. To many have accepted untruths' and deception for so long, that learning what is true takes time and patience. Having done so, one will find difficulty in the journey to self-discovery. Truth...truth is a word that brings out such negative reactions to many. For is...
When you identify the need to set a boundary, do it clearly, preferably without anger, and in as few words as possible. Do not justify, apologize for, or rationalize the boundary you are setting. Do not argue! Just set the boundary calmly, firmly, clearly, and respectfully. You can't set a boundary and take care of someone else's feelings at the same time. You are not responsible for the other person's reaction to the boundary you are setting. You are only responsible for communicating the boundary in a respectful manner. If others get upset with you, that is their problem. If they no longer want your friendship, then you are probably better off without them. You do not need 'friends' who disrespect your boundaries. At first, you...
Do You Have Mountain Moving Faith? Romans 1:17 (KJV) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed, from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. From faith to faith means faith from start to finish. Every day we are given the opportunity to read or hear God's Word, but many of us fail to do so or we get slack for whatever reason. We also have an enemy who wants to distract us and keep us from the Word because he knows we would become victorious in faith and a major threat to him. In our daily living, we are responsible for maintaining our faith. Romans 10:17 says, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The moment we take our eyes off Jesus and start...
Why do we get so jealous when others get what we want? I ask myself this question and I almost immediately know the answer: "Because the other person did not go through what I went through, and I deserve it more than they do. I worked for it, prayed for it, and they just get it handed to them on a silver platter." I'm referring specifically towards my cousin, who has been dating a girl named Rebecca for almost two years now. It broke my heart because the name Rebecca, as I'm sure I have mentioned before, is very special to me. It means something very dear to me, and God knows it, and my parents know it, and my best friend knows it. It's something I let very few people in on, so I won't tell here. However, it broke my heart because at...
Now faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Does this mean our faith shall become stronger by hearing and studying the Word? When we only study and hear it is like seeing ourselves in a mirror, because when we leave the presence of the mirror we forget who we are. When we see ourselves and put into practice what the Word says we are, then we shall remember who we are. A major part of the Word is "doing", not studying. Jesus said we are now capable of healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out devils because of the power and authority we have jointly inherited with Him. How is our faith strengthened in that belief? By studying about that belief in the Word, or by doing it? 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself...
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him?? Psalm 8:3-4 This has become one of my favorite verses. We stay so self-absorbed with our own lives and thoughts.....but think about it......There is a Creator.....who created all of the universe, the heavens, the stars, the oceans, the mountains....all nature we can see or hear....our Heavenly Father, created.....and yet he sees us as individuals.....and he loves each of us. He knew you when you were being formed in your Mother's womb....and even then, he knew his plans for your life.....None of us are here by chance or accident. And he knows us each one, better than we know ourselves...
