Devotional from word for today 31 August 2018 Don't rejoice when your enemies fall.' Proverbs 24:17 NLT When someone achieves something, we may feel resentful. Maybe we want that success for ourselves, or maybe we feel they're not deserving of the success. But that's not how God expects us to react. The Bible tells us to, 'rejoice with those who rejoice' (Romans 12:15 NIV). We need to be celebrating people's success, not resenting them because of it. And that includes celebrating the successes of those who've hurt us or the people we really don't get on with. That can be pretty challenging. When we're feeling hurt, betrayed or disappointed, it can be tempting to want that person to fail. There's something in seeing them fail that...
The world has some offbeat ways of looking at the dead. One, it seems anyone who dies is automatically proclaimed to be a wonderful person. People who were victimized by a person's misdeeds in life, all of a sudden give a glowing speech about what a wonderful person the deceased was. But let's look at that. When Charles Manson died, were we supposed to say he was a kind-hearted, wonderful person? And Hitler? And Emperor Nero? {I mean, if they died in their sins?} Let's see what we read in the book of Revelation. "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before the Throne. And books were opened. And another was opened, it was the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to those things written in the Books. AND WHOSOEVER was...
I am asking every single day of my life to the Lord to do the following things for me... 1. At my death bed to be so happy, so full of joy, without any pain or sorrow. 2. When I am still alive to be joyful in the Lord when I am sharing Jesus with others. 3. Serving God in whatever position He needs me and wants me. 4. The things of this world, silver and gold shall not enter heaven. My beautiful truck and my wonderful house will not come along with me to glory. 5. Everything I have it is to be used for His glory and honor. 6. He has given everything to us and we must in turn give back to Him everything we have. 7, My house will become a house of prayer. Lost souls will come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord. 8. Everything I have, my...
One dumb thing the world says a lot is I hear someone come out and admit they have an action or lifestyle the Bible called SIN, in no uncertain terms, but because these are "modern times", according to them, we've "evolved" in our thinking and therefore what was sin "back then", is now alright. Like how many times have I heard of a celebrity admitting they had same sex sexual relations with someone, and when the question was raised, their "fans" and followers say, "It doesn't matter" at all if they are gay, and the rest... It's 2018 now, we're more "advanced", this is what we do. Translation_now we're more "sophisticated", we see "nothing wrong" with it now. But does sin become not sin because time has passed? Uh, I don't think so!! God...
Please pray for me ### ### I am being treated unfairly. I am being terminated from my job at ### ### ### ### a shift ### hours. It was an honest mistake. I feel I am being treated unfairly. The only time they want me is when they need me. They never give me enough work, maybe ### to ### hours a week. They just use people at ### ### ###. I feel God should take care of this company and expose them to what they are using people as slaves, not a permanent job in the caregiving field. Something needs to change for us caregivers in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus. I want justice. God, you said "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord." I can do more than anyone, says the Lord. I stand with your word, God. I want JUSTICE served for treating me...
Certainly! Here are some simple expansions of Psalm 31:20: 1. **Seeking God's Help**: "May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you." *Expansion*: In times of distress, I trust that God will respond to my cries for help. I believe in His protection and guidance, just as He did for Jacob. 2. **Protection and Deliverance**: "May he send you help from the sanctuary and support you from Zion." *Expansion*: I ask for God's help to come from His holy place, and for His strength to support me from His holy city, Zion. 3. **Remembering God's Faithfulness**: "Remember all my offerings; accept my burnt offerings." *Expansion*: I remember all the sacrifices and offerings I have made...
