Bible Verse for Today

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

—John 1:14 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God's Message, this Word, wasn't content to stay confined to a book, a prophecy, or a scroll. Praise God! God's Message, his ultimate Word, took on flesh, blood, and bones! Praise God Almighty! God's Message, his Word incarnate, didn't remain far off, distantly holy or unapproachable...

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

—John 3:16 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God wants us to have life! Real life. Life that lasts forever with him! That's why God the Father sent Jesus. That is why Jesus, God the Son, left the Father's side and came to earth. That is why Jesus endured the Cross with all of its humiliation. That's why Jesus rose from the dead in...

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

—John 1:1 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

These words are profound... what they mean for us is extraordinary and mind-blowing! Jesus is the Word, the one who was with God in the beginning and was God before there was a beginning (John 1:1-3). Jesus is God's ultimate and final Word (Hebrews 1:1-3). This Word is the one who turned water to wine, fed the five thousand with only five loaves and two...

That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate.

—1 Timothy 6:18 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

For many of us, this time of year is a beautiful time of giving and receiving gifts, giving thanks, and experiencing the joy of generosity. After all, generosity is wonderful — not just to those on the receiving end but also to those on the giving end. This makes Paul's words to Timothy especially impactful to us today. Most of us...

And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

—Romans 15:12 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

When Jesus came, he came to Israel as a descendant of David. Jesus was a proper descendant of King David, the son of Jesse. His birth was prophesied by Jewish prophets and recorded in the Bible of the Israelite people. But no matter how Jewish his origins were, Jesus came to save all people...

And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

—Matthew 2:6 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

The birth of Jesus at Bethlehem was no accident. The Almighty God had foretold this many years earlier through his prophet Micah. Even Herod's religious lackeys could determine that the Messiah was to be born in the quaint old city of David. The human birth of the promised...

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

—Galatians 4:4-5 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

The Father sent his Son. No one else would do as our Savior and Lord. The Father had sent prophets, priests, and preachers, yet they could not bring the salvation and hope that were needed. Religion remained earthbound, legalistic, and...

Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.

—Galatians 1:3-4 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Jesus has come for our rescue! Why? Because he knows the times in which we live aren't easy. He knows that the world in which we live is caught up in wickedness. He knows our world is broken and in decay. These...

O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee. Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.

—Psalm 69:5-6 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

While we're all weak and sinful, we are thankful to have Jesus to atone for our sins and to intercede before the Father on our behalf. Hallelujah for that grace! However, there are still a couple of significant...

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

—Hebrews 2:18 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Jesus was tempted like you and I are! He suffered like we do! God, in his grace, made sure that we had someone in heaven who knew what it was like to face suffering and mortality firsthand. This knowledge is not just through his omniscient wisdom; he also knows us through his shared human experience with us. Jesus guarantees that...
