I see a pattern..certain Christians interpret verses to go one extreme or the other. With money, there are the "prosperity preachers," who say following God's ways is an invitation to being rich, God is "bound" to give us a financial blessing. Then the other extreme, they say the "blessing" is when God keeps you in poverty, to abstain from all worldly goods.
