We come before You, Heavenly Father, with hearts full of gratitude for the richness of Your Word and the privilege to worship You in spirit and truth, just as You desire (John 4:23). Your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105), guiding us in every aspect of our lives. We are reminded that it is only through Jesus Christ, our merciful High Priest, that we can approach Your throne of grace with confidence, receiving mercy and finding grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:15-16). There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and we are eternally grateful for the access we have to You through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Father, we seek Your wisdom to walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing You, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9-11). We ask for the Holy Spirit to strengthen us with power through His Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. We pray that we, being rooted and grounded in love, may have the power to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that we may be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:16-19).
We lift up the desire for pure hearts and consciences free from offense, as the goal of our instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith (1 Timothy 1:5). Father, we ask for the wisdom to accurately handle Your Word, studying to show ourselves approved, workers who do not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). Let us not be led astray by the cunning and deceitful schemes of the enemy, but instead, let us grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
We pray for clarity and order in our lives, that all things may be done decently and in order (1 Corinthians 14:33). Father, grant us the grace to tend to our own vineyards (Song of Solomon 1:6) and to prioritize the good works You have prepared for us to do (Titus 3:14). Let us labor together with You as Your fellow workers (1 Corinthians 3:9), bearing much fruit so that You may be glorified (John 15:7-8). We ask for simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3), that our love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that we may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ (Philippians 1:9-10).
We thank You for the ministry of angels, who are sent to serve those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14). We pray for their protection and guidance, that no harm may befall us, nor any plague come near our dwelling (Psalm 91:10-11). Father, we ask for boldness to proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins in Jesus’ name (Luke 24:47), that many may come to the knowledge of the truth and be saved (1 Timothy 2:1-4). Restore to us the joy of Your salvation, and uphold us with a willing spirit, that we may teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners may be converted to You (Psalm 51:12-13).
We come against every stumbling block and temptation that may hinder our walk with You (Romans 14:13, 1 Corinthians 8:9). Deliver us from evil and the evil one, that we may not be led into temptation but be kept from the evil one (Matthew 6:13, John 17:15). Protect us from deceivers and impostors who oppose the truth, having a form of godliness but denying its power (2 Timothy 3:5, 13). Let us not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may prove what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).
Father, we pray for the renewal of our first love (Revelation 2:4), that we may draw near to You with sincere hearts in full assurance of faith (James 4:8). Let us not neglect our own vineyards, but tend to them with diligence, knowing that we are Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works (Ephesians 2:10). We ask for the grace to walk in fellowship with You and with one another, that our joy may be complete (1 John 1:1-3).
We commit all these things to You, trusting in Your faithfulness and love. May our lives bear much fruit, bringing glory and honor to Your holy name. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, the one Mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5), our Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek (Psalm 110:4, Hebrews 7:17). Amen.
