Worldliness

We join with you in bringing your loved ones before the Lord, for we share your burden for them to be set free from worldliness and false teachings. This is a righteous and urgent request, because the Lord calls us to holiness and to truth, and not to be entangled by the patterns of this present age.

Scripture warns us plainly about these dangers. It says, Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s. 1 John 2:15-16. And again, You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:4. We are therefore to be transformed and not conformed, as it is written, Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2. Concerning false teachings we are also warned, For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts, and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn away to fables. 2 Timothy 4:3-4, and Beware lest anyone take you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elemental principles of the world, and not according to Christ. Colossians 2:8. We must test what we hear, for Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1.

We lovingly point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to encourage you in this because it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that anyone can be saved and truly set free. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And Scripture declares, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. Worldliness and deception cannot be overcome by our own resolve, but only by being born again through faith in Jesus Christ, repenting of sin, and abiding in His truth. If your loved ones do not yet know Him, we pray first for their salvation, and if they do, we pray for their repentance and renewal.

We rebuke the spirit of worldliness and every false teaching that would seek to hold your loved ones captive, and we ask the Lord to expose every lie and to draw them into the light of His Word.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up these precious loved ones to You. Lord, we ask You to open their eyes to see the emptiness of the world and the deceit of false teachings. By Your Holy Spirit, convict their hearts, turn them from loving the world to loving You, and set them free by the truth of Your Word. Renew their minds, guard them from deception, and lead them to sound doctrine and to fellowship where Your Word is faithfully taught. Help them to hunger for Your Word daily, to walk in obedience, and to bear fruit that honors You. Give our dear one who is interceding for them boldness to speak the truth in love, patience to continue in prayer, and peace to trust Your perfect timing and Your power to save and sanctify. We ask that You would deliver them from every snare and establish their feet upon the solid rock of Christ. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in prayer and in the Word, to gently share Scripture with your loved ones, and to model a life set apart for God, trusting that He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun and that He desires all to come to repentance and to the knowledge of the truth.

Thank you for bringing your loved ones to us in prayer. We hear your love for them and your desire to see them walk in what is true and lasting, free from what pulls them away from God.

It can feel heavy to watch people we care about be drawn toward worldly ways or teachings that sound good but do not lead to life. We want change for them right away, and it hurts when we cannot make that happen for them.

One thing that has helped us over time is remembering that growing in Christ is more like training than trying. It is a steady, lifelong process of learning to love what God loves, shaped by simple faithfulness in prayer, time in Scripture, honest fellowship and repentance. That perspective helps us keep praying with patience when we long for someone else to see clearly, trusting that God is at work even when progress is slow and unseen.

If it helps, a quiet next step could be to keep a simple rhythm of praying for each of them by name, and to stay rooted in your own walk so your life remains a steady witness. When doors open for conversation, gentle honesty about what God is teaching you often opens hearts more than debate.

Father, we lift these loved ones to You. Draw them to Yourself, guard them from deception, and give them a hunger for what is true. Give our friend wisdom, peace and perseverance as they love them well. Lead each one closer to You in Your timing and grace. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your prayer for your loved ones to be set free from worldliness and false teaching is a right and loving burden, and it is good that you bring it to the Lord who alone can deliver.

The Scripture tells us that deliverance from the power of darkness is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. We cannot by our own persuasion break the love of the world or the hold of error, but our heavenly Father can. He has found a ransom, and He has given His own Son to bear the penalty of sin, that those who are going down to the pit might be brought forth into light and liberty. Where we look for justification, there also must we look for sanctification, for it is God who delivers us and translates us into the kingdom of His dear Son.

Do not cease to pray, for the Lord often works through the faithful intercession of His people, and He has His hidden ones even in the midst of ungodliness and in families where His name is little regarded. He knows them and He will bring them forth, for He has paid too great a price to lose one of His own. And remember also that whom the Lord loves He chastens. If He lays the rod upon those you love, it is not in anger but in affection, that they may be weaned from loving gold more than God and valuing earthly riches more than riches eternal. His heaviest blows are as true tokens of His love as His sweetest caresses, meant for their good, to turn their hearts from darkness to light.

Let us pray together.

O gracious Father, we thank You that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that in Him alone is truth and life. We ask in the name of Your Son that You would deliver these loved ones from the power of darkness and from every false way. Open their eyes to see the vanity of this world and the beauty of Christ who loved us and gave Himself for us. Wash them in His blood, find them by Your ransom, and make them Your free men and women, seeking only to do Your will. Keep them from error, establish them in Your truth, and bring them forth as those who shall live and declare the works of the Lord. We ask this not because we are worthy, but because Your mercy is great and Your covenant is sure. Hear this prayer for Jesus sake. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We thank you for sharing this burden for your loved ones, and we join you in bringing them before the Lord.

Scripture warns us clearly about these two dangers. One is the love of this present world, like Demas who forsook faithful labor because he loved ease and security more than Christ. The other is the deceit of false teaching, for Jesus warned us to beware of false prophets who come in hidden ways, and the apostles warned of false brethren and deceivers who turn hearts away from the truth. Both love of the world and listening to what is false can make the narrow way seem hard and draw souls away from what they should love most.

We pray now for those you love, that God in His mercy would open their eyes and set them free.

Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ that You would deliver our loved ones from love of the world and from every false teaching. By Your Holy Spirit, show them the emptiness of what the world offers and the truth of Your Word. Guard their hearts and minds, lead them away from every deceiver and every doctrine that is not according to Christ, and draw them to walk in the truth with a sincere and warm love for You. Grant them repentance where it is needed, strengthen their faith, and keep them in Your grace. Help them to love what You love and to desire what endures forever. We thank You that You are able to deliver and to keep those who trust in You. Amen.

Continue to pray for them with gentleness and hope, and to show them the love of Christ in your own life. Remember that deliverance from these evils is not by our strength but by the grace of God, and He hears the prayers of His people. Keep holding fast to the truth of Scripture, speak it in love, and trust the Lord to work in His time.

Thank you for sharing this burden for your loved ones. We join you in prayer that God will set them free from worldliness and from every false teaching that could lead them astray.

It helps to remember what the Bible actually means by worldliness. It is easy to think of it only as outward behaviors like going to certain places or doing certain things, and while those things may not be helpful, Scripture points deeper to the heart. Worldliness is the craving of the flesh, the craving of the eyes, and the pride of life. It is when the heart is set on what the body wants, what the eyes want to have, and on being lifted up and admired. Those desires are not from the Father. Praying for your loved ones in this way means asking God to loosen the hold of those inner desires and to turn their hearts to love what He loves instead.

False teaching is often hard to recognize for the same reason. Jesus warned in Matthew chapter 7 to beware of false prophets who come in sheep's clothing. They do not look like wolves. They look like sheep, and they often speak a great deal of truth. That is what makes the deception so serious. If everything they said were false, no one would listen. But when most of what is said is true, the small part that is false can be missed. Even Satan mixed truth with error from the beginning.

Scripture tells us not to believe every spirit but to test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Two tests are given again and again. One is what is taught about Jesus Christ, whether He is confessed truthfully as Lord and Savior. The other is the fruit of the life and ministry. Does it lead people toward holiness, humility, and love for Christ, or does it lead to something else.

The prophets Jeremiah and Ezekiel confronted this in their own day. The false prophets told the people what they wanted to hear. They promised peace when there was no peace and gave a false hope that kept people from facing what God was actually saying and doing what they truly needed to do. In the same way today, false teaching often gives pleasant promises and false assurance, telling people they can continue as they are without repentance, and it often shows itself by a strong emphasis on money and on what can be gained. Peter warned in 2 Peter chapter 2 that false teachers would privately bring in destructive ideas, even denying the Lord, and that the love of gain would be a mark of their way, like Balaam who loved the wages of unrighteousness.

To be a victim of false information about any ordinary matter is hard, but to be a victim of false information about the eternal soul is far more serious. That is why your prayers matter so much.

We are praying that God will open the eyes of your loved ones to see these things clearly, that He will help them test what they hear by the Word of God, by the truth about Jesus, and by the fruit that follows. Pray that God will remove any false hope that keeps them from truly turning to Him, and that He will free them from the love of the world and draw their affections to Christ. And as you wait and pray, Scripture also reminds us that if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another, with Christ Himself as our example in love and forgiveness. Continue to love them, speak the truth with grace, and trust God to work.

Let us pray together. Father, we bring these loved ones before You in the name of Jesus. You see their hearts and You know the influences around them. By Your mercy, set them free from the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life. Open their ears to hear Your truth and give them discernment to test every teaching by Your Word and by the faithful witness to Jesus Christ. Expose what is false and lead them into what is true. Draw them to Yourself, that they may know Your forgiveness and walk in new life. Give peace and strength to the one who is praying, and help them to love as Christ has loved us. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only Savior, amen.
