I posted this earlier: "My HOA is doing electrical work on my home which requires our electricity to be off all day today and possibly tomorrow morning. My family chose to stay home as we don't want to leave our pets in the house without electricity. We would not have been able to take them with us if we left the house for the day. I was doing fine but am feeling a bit overwhelmed and possibly overheated right now. Please pray for us and our neighbors as they are in the same position. Pray that God would allow this work to be completed earlier than expected." I am really upset about this situation. This has been a stressful, trying experience and this and other problems with my HOA honestly make me consider moving even though we love our home so much. Please pray for us about this. Thank you.

We hear your frustration and the weight of this situation pressing upon you and your family. It is understandable to feel overwhelmed when plans are disrupted, and comforts like electricity, something we often take for granted, are taken away. The stress of dealing with an HOA that seems to add to your burden rather than ease it can make even the place you love feel like a source of trial. We want you to know that your feelings are valid, and we stand with you in bringing this before the Lord.

First, we must remember that God is sovereign over every circumstance, even those that feel inconvenient or unjust. Romans 8:28 tells us, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose." Though this situation may feel frustrating now, we trust that God can use even this to draw you closer to Him, to refine your patience, and to remind you of His provision. The heat, the lack of electricity, and the disruption to your routine are temporary, but God’s faithfulness is eternal.

We also lift up your HOA before the Lord. It is clear that this experience has left you feeling unheard and perhaps even disrespected. Scripture calls us to pray for those in authority over us, even when it is difficult. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 says, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence." We pray that God would soften the hearts of those in leadership, that they would act with wisdom, fairness, and consideration for the families they serve. If there has been negligence or poor communication, we ask that the Lord would bring conviction and a desire for change.

As for your consideration of moving, we encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance in this. Psalm 37:5-6 says, "Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness go forth as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun." Moving is a significant decision, and it is wise to weigh the pros and cons carefully, seeking God’s will above all. Ask Him to make your path clear, whether He is calling you to stay and be a light in your community or to move to a place where you can thrive without unnecessary burdens. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."

We also want to gently address the emotional and physical strain you are feeling. The heat and lack of electricity can take a toll on your body and spirit. James 1:12 says, "Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him." This trial is an opportunity to endure with faith, knowing that God sees your struggle and will sustain you. Take moments to rest, hydrate, and seek His peace in the midst of the discomfort.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, lifting up this family and their neighbors during this time of disruption and frustration. Lord, we ask that You would be their comfort and strength as they endure the heat and inconvenience of this electrical work. We pray that You would grant them patience and peace, reminding them that this situation is temporary and that You are in control.

Father, we lift up their HOA to You. We ask that You would soften the hearts of those in leadership, that they would act with wisdom, fairness, and compassion toward the families they serve. If there has been negligence or poor communication, we pray that You would bring conviction and a desire for change. Help this family to see Your hand at work, even in the midst of frustration.

Lord, we also ask for Your guidance regarding the possibility of moving. If it is Your will for them to stay, give them the strength to endure and the grace to be a light in their community. If You are calling them to move, make the path clear and provide a home where they can thrive and serve You without unnecessary burdens. Direct their steps, Father, and let Your will be done in their lives.

We ask that You would protect them from feeling overwhelmed or discouraged. Remind them of Your promises and Your faithfulness. Surround them with Your peace, and help them to trust in You even when circumstances are difficult. We pray that the work would be completed swiftly and efficiently, and that normalcy would be restored soon.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to lean on the Lord and to seek His presence in the midst of this trial. Psalm 46:1 says, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." You are not alone in this, and God is with you, even in the heat and discomfort. Hold fast to His promises, and remember that He is working all things together for your good. If moving is part of His plan, He will make it clear. Until then, trust in Him and rest in His care.

We’re so sorry you’re in this today, no electricity, the heat rising, and your whole family plus pets trying to ride it out. That’s genuinely tough, and it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed, especially when frustration with the HOA has been simmering for a while. Loving your home and yet feeling pushed to the edge by outside pressures is a wearying place to be.

One thing we’ve noticed is that when our bodies are overheated and our reserves are low, even the good parts of life can feel impossible. This might not be the best moment to weigh a decision like moving, not because your feelings aren’t real, but because right now you’re running on fumes. Sometimes the most grounded step is simply to get through the next hour, stay hydrated, find a cooler spot if you can, and let the big questions wait until you’ve had a chance to physically and emotionally reset.

You’re doing well by looking after your pets and by reaching out for prayer. We’re glad you didn’t try to push through alone. Please be gentle with yourself the rest of the day; even small pauses to breathe and take a sip of water can help reset your body’s stress response. And when the power comes back, give yourself time before deciding anything about your home, you deserve to make that choice from a place of steadiness, not from the middle of a sweltering, draining day.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this family and their neighbors right now. Please keep them safe from the heat, bring the electrical work to a swift and uneventful close, and restore power sooner than anyone expects. Settle their hearts when the frustration rises, and grant them clear, unhurried wisdom about their home when the time is right. Thank you that you see them in this small, exhausting moment and that you care about every detail. In your name, amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When a home you love suddenly turns into a furnace of discomfort, and the clamour of workmen and the weight of helplessness press in on every side, you may well feel your spirits sink. The heat of the day, the loss of a simple thing like electricity, the anxious glance at your pets, all these small stones in the shoe can make a long road seem endless. I do not wonder that tears are near the surface, or that the thought of packing up and leaving has crept into your mind. But I want to sit with you in that stifling room for a moment and speak a word that has often cooled my own heart in hotter trials than this.

Our Lord Jesus Christ does not stand aloof from your present hard spot. Remember, He knew what it was to be weary and thirsty, to sit by a well under a blazing sun and feel the whole weight of a journey in His bones. He is not a High Priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of your little miseries. The stifling heat in your house, the frustration with your HOA, the longing to flee, He takes note of it all. And into the midst of it He speaks the same word He spoke to His disciples: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you.” His peace is not a fragile hothouse flower that only blooms when everything goes right. It is a hardy seaside bloom that thrives when the salt spray is flying and the wind is moaning.

I often think that some of God’s loveliest love-letters come to us in black-edged envelopes. This trying day feels to you like a black-edged envelope, doesn’t it? The work drags on, the house feels like an oven, and nothing goes as you had hoped. But inside this very trial there is a folded message from your Father’s own heart, sealed with the crimson wax of His faithfulness. He is teaching you, not angrily, but tenderly, that your citadel is not a house, however dear; it is Christ Himself. You cannot flee from difficulty by moving to another street, for every dwelling place this side of the New Jerusalem has its own leaky roof and its own creaking floorboards. But you can always flee into Christ, and find in Him a habitation that no earthly disruption can unsettle. He Himself is your peace; not the quietness of the house, not the hum of a working appliance, but the living Son of God who has made peace between your soul and the Father by His own blood.

Now, I know you are pressed hard by a throng of duties and worries all shouting for your attention at once. When the mind is clamorous and the body is spent, it is hard to find a calm center. Yet here is a secret I have had to learn by many a fiery season: real rest is not found in escaping my duties, but in doing whatever lies at hand as for Jesus, and then cheerfully leaving the rest to Him. A little verse I love says, “To do the will of Jesus, this is rest.” You have done what kindness could do for your family and your pets. You have stayed, you have watched, you have worried, and all that is as much your offering to the Lord as any psalm sung in church. Now, will you do the next thing? Just do the little you can do, and leave the rest to your heavenly Father. What you cannot mend, He will mend. What you cannot hasten, He will time. When obstacles seem like prison walls, that is the very moment to look up and say, “I do the little I can do, and leave the rest to Thee.” That is the breathing space of faith.

It may also help you to remember that you are not being swept away. The Lord has said, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.” You are in deep water, but you are not drowning. The fire is hot, but it shall not kindle upon you. Every wave that splashes over the gunwale of your little boat is known to Him. Nothing has come near you but by His permission, and He is nearer still, closer than your own breathing. If the work is finished early, praise Him. If it stretches into tomorrow, He will sustain you through that as well. Your safety does not hang on the electrician’s schedule; it hangs on the nail-pierced hand that holds you fast.

---

Eternal Father, I pray for this dear one sitting under the weight of a weary day. Let the shadow of Your wings be a canopy of coolness and quiet for their heart. Give them patient endurance for the noise and the waiting. Guard their spirit from the sharpness of frustration, and from the fear that other troubles will heap up against them. You know how they love this home; let that affection be a quiet gift from You, and not a trap that makes them miserable. And in the night watches, if the trial stretches on, speak the peace of Christ over them until their soul rests in You as a weaned child with its mother. Bless the hands of the workers, spare the neighbourhood from harm, and in Your good time restore to this household the comforts they lack. But more than all, fix their eyes on Jesus, in whom all peace is stored up, and let them go forward in perfect confidence. Amen.
