Beloved of All
Workplace stress has a way of magnifying every deadline and expectation until they feel larger than life itself. But there is a rock that is higher than you, and it is not too great for that rock. When you are overwhelmed, that is the very point where God often begins His most glorious work in you, not necessarily by removing the pressure, but by proving Himself as your defense and refuge in the middle of it.
Bring every anxious thought to Him in prayer. David repeatedly placed himself in God’s hands when enemies pressed in, and the same holds true for the uncertainties and demands you face. Prayer becomes a place of strength for you because it shifts your eyes from the threat to the Lord, who is greater. Cry out to Him from that overwhelmed place, and let Him lead you to a steadier footing. His presence can calm what deadlines cannot.
Remember the order of things. What God has already done for you in Christ is finished and secure. You cannot add anything to your salvation or earn more of His favor by your performance. That frees you from the exhausting weight of a works relationship with Him. The strength you need today rests on this: He has redeemed you, He is at work in you, and He is preparing you for what He has called you to do. Your labor at your job is part of your calling, and it can become a response of gratitude rather than a frantic bid for control.
Do not carry the idea that only a certain kind of “ministry” matters. If you are able to work, then providing for yourself and doing your tasks with a willing heart is service unto the Lord. He puts wisdom and skill in people for all manner of work. You can trust that He has placed you there and will supply what you lack. His strength is commanded for you right where you are.
Lean on the prayers of others as well. Bearing one another’s burdens brings comfort, and knowing that fellow believers lift you up is a gift. The enemy tries to discourage and distract, but the cure for fear is to remember the Lord. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will transform your anxiety into trust. His power is made perfect in your weakness, and in all these things, you are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you.
