The ache of a heart that feels dead, a soul that has lost its laughter, these are not hidden from the One who formed you. You are right to cry out: humanly this is impossible. But the Word declares that what we cannot do, God can. He specializes in resurrection. Not just of bodies at the last day, but of hearts, of hope, of joy right now.
There are seasons when God allows everything to be stripped away, not because He has forsaken you, but because He loves you enough to reveal what is really in your heart. He desires from us a love that is not traded for comfort, a trust that holds on even when sight fails. What is man, that God should magnify him? What are we, that He should set His heart upon us? And yet, astonishingly, He does. He has set His heart upon you.
When hope seems gone, when the grave feels closer than the sunrise, remember that there is a tree that was cut down and yet sprang to life again. Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life. Because He lives, you have a guarantee that your story does not end in the dust. Your faith, your joy, your hope, these can be restored, and permanently, because they are secured in Him, not in your circumstances.
Do not despise this chastening process. The one who confesses his need, who pours out the bitterness of his soul before God and says, “Show me where you contend with me,” that one He will favor. He will deliver your soul from the pit and let you see the light of life. Wait for Him. He is at work, for His glory and your ultimate good. In Jesus’ name, the impossible becomes reality. You will yet laugh and rejoice again, because your hope does not rest on a spider’s web but on the unshakable promise of God.
