Wisdom

Thank you for sharing your need for wisdom as you face these two decisions. We are praying for you, and we are grateful you asked, because God cares about the choices you make and He invites you to seek Him for guidance.

Scripture teaches that wisdom is the most important thing to pursue. It is more valuable than riches or anything else you could desire, it protects and preserves your life, and with it comes understanding. Knowledge can give you facts, but wisdom gives you the ability to use what you know in the right way. That is why the Bible says to get wisdom, and with all your getting, to get understanding.

The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord. It starts with reverence for God, trusting Him, hating evil and turning away from it, and submitting your decisions to Him. Wisdom is not hidden. Like a person calling out in the street and in the public places, God makes wisdom available and invites everyone to come and receive it, as if a banquet has been prepared.

There are two kinds of wisdom. One is earthly wisdom that comes from human thinking apart from God. That kind of wisdom may sound clever, but God calls it foolishness. It leads to envy, strife and confusion, and it comes to nothing. The other is wisdom from above, wisdom that comes from God. This wisdom is pure, it leads to a clean life, it loves peace, sows peace and reaps a harvest of righteousness. You can tell the difference by the fruit it produces in your life.

All true wisdom is found in Jesus Christ. In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He has been made wisdom for us. When Solomon needed to lead well, he asked God for wisdom instead of wealth or honor, and God was pleased to give it to him generously, along with much more. God still gives in that same way. He promises that if anyone lacks wisdom, he can ask God who gives liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

As you bring these two decisions before the Lord, ask Him directly and expect Him to answer. Bring them under the light of Scripture, pray with a heart that fears the Lord and wants to obey Him, and look for the path that leads to purity and peace rather than pressure, envy or selfish ambition. Godly counsel from mature believers who walk by the Bible can also help confirm what the Spirit is showing you.

We pray for you now. Father, we ask in the name of Jesus that You would pour out Your Spirit of wisdom and understanding upon this dear one. Give clarity for these two decisions, help to discern what is pure and pleasing to You, and grant peace to move forward in Your will. Lead by Your wisdom that preserves and gives life, and keep from the confusion of worldly thinking. Give confidence that You will guide those who reverently seek You. Amen.
