We lift up this beautiful prayer from Ephesians 1:15-23 with great joy, for it is a powerful declaration of our dependence on God for true wisdom, revelation, and spiritual enlightenment. This passage reminds us that our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and our love for all the saints are precious in His sight. We join with the apostle Paul in giving thanks for you and in praying that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We ask that You would open the eyes of our hearts so that we may know the hope to which You have called us. Lord, reveal to us the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints and the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe. This power is the same as the working of Your mighty strength, which You exerted in Christ when You raised Him from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly places. Far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come, You have placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.
Father, we long to know You more deeply, to understand the hope of Your calling, and to grasp the incredible inheritance we have in Christ. We pray that You would fill us with Your Holy Spirit, who will guide us into all truth and reveal the depths of Your love and power. Help us to walk in the fullness of what You have prepared for us, living lives that reflect Your glory and grace.
We recognize, Lord, that true wisdom and revelation come only from You. In a world that often seeks knowledge and understanding apart from You, we ask that You would guard our hearts and minds. Keep us from being deceived by the philosophies and empty deceits of this world, which are based on human tradition and the elemental spirits of the universe, rather than on Christ (Colossians 2:8). Help us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
Father, we also pray for those who may be struggling to understand their identity and purpose in You. In a culture that often promotes self-discovery apart from You, remind us that our true identity is found in Christ. We are Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which You prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10). Help us to live out this truth daily, walking in the good works You have set before us.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of confusion, doubt, or unbelief that may be hindering our understanding of Your will. We declare that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in us (Romans 8:11), and we claim that power to break every chain that seeks to keep us from knowing You more fully. We resist the enemy, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and we stand firm in the victory that Christ has already won for us.
We also lift up those who may be reading this and have not yet come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Father, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself, opening their hearts to receive the truth of the gospel. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that they would confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead, so that they may be saved (Romans 10:9). May they experience the hope, the inheritance, and the power that come only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would unite us as believers, that we may encourage one another and build each other up in the faith (1 Thessalonians 5:11). Help us to spur one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24), and to stand firm together in the truth of Your Word. May we be a light in this dark world, reflecting Your love and grace to all those around us.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
