🙇🏻 Wisdom & Revelation to Know God, The Hope of His Calling, Riches of Glorious Inheritance and the Surpassing Greatness of His Power, Eph 1:15-23, "For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all those God has Made Holy, 16 do not cease giving thanks for you in my praying: 17 'That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a Spirit of Wisdom and of Revelation in the true knowledge of Himself. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so you will know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in those who have been sanctified, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accord with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He exerted in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His Right Hand in the Heavenly Places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, in this age and in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way,'" Eph 1:15-23.

We lift our voices together in praise and petition, standing on the powerful words of Ephesians 1:15-23, which you have so beautifully shared. This passage is a treasure trove of divine truth, and we join with you in seeking the fullness of what God has promised, wisdom, revelation, hope, inheritance, and power. Let us pray fervently that these blessings would not only be understood in our minds but also ignited in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

Father in Heaven, we come before You, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, and we ask that You would grant us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Yourself. Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord, that we may know the hope to which You have called us. We long to grasp the riches of the glorious inheritance You have prepared for those who are sanctified in Christ. And Father, we pray that we would comprehend the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe, a power that raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion.

Lord, we confess that without You, our understanding is dim, and our hearts are prone to wander. But we trust in Your promise that when we seek You with all our hearts, we will find You (Jeremiah 29:13). We ask that You would remove every veil of doubt, every distraction of the world, and every lie of the enemy that seeks to keep us from knowing You more deeply. Fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that we may walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing You in every good work (Colossians 1:9-10).

We rebuke every spirit of confusion, apathy, or complacency that would hinder us from pursuing the fullness of what You have for us. The enemy seeks to blind the minds of unbelievers (2 Corinthians 4:4), but we declare that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ has shone in our hearts, and we will not be kept in darkness. We stand firm in the truth that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We reject any teaching or philosophy that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Father, we also lift up those who may be reading this and have not yet surrendered their lives to Jesus. We pray that the eyes of their hearts would be opened to see their need for a Savior. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and let them experience the life-transforming power of the gospel. May they confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead, so that they may be saved (Romans 10:9).

For those of us who are in Christ, we ask that You would deepen our love for You and for one another. Let us not be content with surface-level faith but press on to know You more intimately. Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12). May we live in the light of eternity, storing up treasures in heaven rather than on earth (Matthew 6:19-20). And as we grow in the knowledge of You, may our lives reflect Your glory, drawing others to the hope found only in Jesus.

We also pray for marriages and relationships that honor You. Father, we ask that You would strengthen husbands and wives to love one another as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). Guard their hearts from temptation and infidelity, and let their marriages be a testimony to Your faithfulness. For those who are single, we pray that You would prepare them for godly spouses, that they may enter into marriage with purity and purpose, seeking first Your kingdom (Matthew 6:33). We rebuke any mindset that treats relationships as casual or temporary, for marriage is a sacred covenant before You (Genesis 2:24). Let us all walk in holiness, fleeing from sexual immorality and honoring You with our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

Father, we thank You for the hope of Your calling, the assurance that You have begun a good work in us and will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). We rejoice in the riches of Your glorious inheritance, knowing that we are co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). And we stand in awe of Your power, which is at work within us, able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

We declare together that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:11). May our lives be living testimonies of Your grace, wisdom, and power. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We are praying this with you, and there is something striking about the request itself, it shows a heart already stirred by God. You are not asking for relief or a fix but for more of Him, for the weight of His calling and the certainty of His power to land deep inside. That is a hunger He loves to satisfy.

When Paul wrote these words, he was not praying for people who lacked faith; he was praying for those who already believed, asking that their knowing would move from the mind into the bones. We find it helpful to remember that this kind of knowing rarely lands all at once, like a lightning bolt. Often it grows quieter, a steady, anchoring confidence that reorders how we see our struggles, our waiting, and our future. Hope is not a feeling we manufacture. It is the mind’s firm expectation that what God has promised is already on its way, even when the visible facts argue otherwise. Living into this prayer can look less like an ecstatic moment and more like a slow daily reorientation: we begin to measure our days not by what is missing but by the inheritance that is already ours in Christ and the power that raised Him from the dead working toward us right now.

We do not know what prompted you to pray this today, but we are asking with you, not looking for a sign, but simply trusting He will make these realities weightier than whatever else presses in.

Lord Jesus, we join this request from Ephesians. Give the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the deep, personal knowledge of You. Enlighten the eyes of the heart, so the hope You have called us to, the riches You have already secured, and the immeasurable greatness of Your power become utterly real, steady, and alive within. Anchor every restless thought in these things. Amen.

The prayer you have lifted from the Apostle’s pen is a cry that can never rise too high, for it seeks the very summit of divine blessing. That God would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, that the eyes of your heart would be flooded with light to know the hope of His calling, the riches of His inheritance, and the surpassing greatness of His power, this is the birthright of every saint. And you will find that all these treasures are bound up in one glorious person. Christ, in his complex person, God and man, the Son equal with the Father, yet bone of our bone, is the power of God and the wisdom of God. By him the heavens were made; by him the dead are raised; by him sinners are saved. Do not chase the gifts apart from the Giver, for the hope of his calling is Christ in you, the hope of glory. The inheritance is nothing less than Christ himself, and the greatness of his power is the might that raised him from the dead and seated him at the right hand of the Majesty on high. We are prone to look within, to measure our grasp, but the text bids us look up to where Christ is, far above all rule and authority. The power is not a force to be weighed; it is a person to be trusted.

Consider the case of Rebecca, who heard God’s decree that the elder would serve the younger. She thought to secure the blessing by craft, but policy is not wisdom, and craft is not understanding. True wisdom is this: he who trusts in the Lord, happy is he. If you want the Spirit’s wisdom and revelation, you must sit at the feet of Jesus as a little child, confident that what God has promised he is able to perform. You are not to be idle, faith is no pillow for sloth, nor are you to be rash, as though you must force the Almighty’s hand. The God of economy and order works mightily, but he works through means: his Word, his ordinances, and the secret wrestling of prayer. Power with God does not proceed from any strength in you. It arises from something in God himself, his covenant, his promise, his own unchanging character. A prince of God is one who has learned to lay hold of the covenant and to plead what God has sworn. This is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe: that we, poor dust, may take hold of the Almighty and prevail.

Let me press you toward a fuller acquaintance with this. The knowledge Paul prays for is no mere intellectual nod. It is the true knowledge, a knowing that tastes and handles and lives upon the things of God. You have tasted that the Lord is gracious; now press on to know the deep things of God. How? By growing in the art of prayer. The man who wrestled with the angel at the brook Jabbok gained his princely name only after years of discipline. When you first came to Christ, the covenant blessings were all sweets, and you were ravenous for his Word. Do not let the appetite wane. If the things of God seem less sweet, the fault is in the eater, not in the feast. Seek more instruction. Go to the Wise One for wisdom; go to this blessed Book for the light; go to the Holy Spirit himself for divine illumination. The inheritance is exceedingly broad, and there are glorious truths of which beginners know nothing, truths that would set your soul singing when now you fret and worry. No child of God could ever say, “I have taken all that God can give me.” God All-Sufficient is our heritage, and he more than fills our deepest need. The throne of God and of the Lamb is in heaven, and the Lamb is upon the throne, co-equal and co-eternal. All power is given to him, and he exercises it in deed and in truth for his church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. Rest there, and your joy shall be full. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You pray for a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, and rightly so, for the Apostle himself ceased not to give thanks and make mention of such believers in his prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would grant this very thing. The eyes of your heart need enlightenment, that you may know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are not matters to be grasped by human reasoning, for if the peace of God surpasses all understanding, much more does He Himself exceed our conceiving. We ought therefore to receive all things with faith and reverence, glorifying God that we have such a God who surpasses both thought and speech.

The wisdom you seek is not of this world, for Christ has been made unto us wisdom from God, and the foolishness of God is wiser than men. Through the very word of the Cross, which to the perishing is foolishness, God was well pleased to save those who believe. Therein lies the power of God: the same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand far above all rule and authority. By that surpassing greatness of His might He has drawn us to Himself, releasing us from our former state and turning us back though we were long estranged.

What are the riches of His glorious inheritance? He has promised numberless good things, given us a baptism of remission, shed abroad His Spirit into our hearts, and prepared an inheritance of a kingdom. Yet we cannot fully comprehend what is prepared for those who love Him, for it has not entered the heart of man. So we hold fast, knowing that human things are easily seen through and quickly perish, but divine things are not such: they are brought to pass by God, and no man ever yet had power to do those deeds.

As you yearn for this wisdom and revelation, understand that with every gift comes a stewardship. It is required of us both fidelity and wisdom, not to purloin or misspend what our Master entrusts, but to dispense it for the common advantage. Let this knowledge of God, this hope of His calling, this power, not be for your ruin but for your growth, that you may truly be found faithful and wise. For this reason the Apostle prayed without ceasing, and for this cause he gave thanks. So too must you press on, with the eyes of your heart ever looking to the One who fills all in all.

What a prayer you have brought before the Lord. The very longing you express shows the Spirit already stirring your heart, because no one seeks to know God this deeply unless He is first drawing them. The core of this passage is a prayer that gets past every surface need and lands right at the center of what it means to be alive in Christ.

Notice where it begins: a Spirit of wisdom and revelation to truly know God Himself. This is not something you can reason your way into or earn by discipline. The only hope any of us have of knowing the living God is through the Spirit making Him known to us. The eyes of your understanding, your heart, must be supernaturally opened. God wants more than a legal arrangement or a set of rituals with you. He wants a loving relationship where your obedience flows naturally from your love for Him. That is where this prayer takes you.

Once those eyes are enlightened, you begin to grasp three things that change everything. The first is the hope of His calling. So much discouragement creeps in when we lose sight of what God is preparing. This prayer cuts right to that issue. It is not just any hope; it is the confident expectation of the glory He intends to reveal in you and the future that is secured with Jesus Christ. The second is the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. This is staggering to consider. You are His inheritance. Think of what that means for how He values you and what He is doing in your redemptive process. The third is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.

Do not measure that power by your current challenges or feelings. The same mighty strength that God exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him far above all rule and authority is the power at work for you right now. The resources of God are yours. His strength, His peace, His overcoming life are all made available to you. This power is not just for some future crisis; it is the present, active, resurrection life of Jesus filling His body, the church. He is the head over all things, and you are joined to Him. Let these truths settle in your heart until they silence the lies of discouragement. The goodness of God displayed in this overwhelming grace is what leads us to lasting change and fills us with hope.
