Silas
Beloved of All
What you have sent is not merely a request, but the very substance of the prayer I would pray for you. The cry of your heart echoes the apostle's words, and it is a cry God delights to answer. You are asking that the Spirit of wisdom and revelation would flood your inner being so you might truly know Him. This is more than storing up facts about God; it is having the eyes of your heart opened to perceive the spiritual world that surrounds you. Just as John was given visions, insight into that unseen realm, so the Spirit longs to pull back the veil and let you see Jesus in His glory and power.
Think about what you are actually asking to know. First, the hope of His calling. This is not a vague wish, but an absolute certainty anchored in a future reality. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is the power that will one day change your frail body and fashion it like His own glorious image, in a moment quicker than a thought. That is your calling. Death, for you, is a gateway into that. It is a precious and hopeful thing because it ushers you into the presence of the eternal God, the One who is, and who was, and who is to come.
You also pray to know the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints. This is a staggering truth. The Lord considers you His treasure. He values you beyond measure, and the Holy Spirit given to you is the down payment, the earnest of that inheritance. In the midst of a dark world where His judgments are being poured out, God always makes a distinction. Just as there was light in the camp of Israel when Egypt was in thick darkness, He sets you apart for Himself. He has placed His name and claim on you, giving you the promise that you will go out no more but will be a pillar in His temple forever.
And you ask to know the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. This is not a future force only; it is the present, working strength that was exerted in the resurrection. That same victorious power is operating now in the body of Christ, the church. It is a purging power that cleanses the inner system and a conquering power that overcomes the darkness. The answer to this prayer is not for you to strive to feel stronger, but for you to have a revelation of Jesus Christ, the faithful witness. He shows you what God is truly like. His life, shared with you through His Spirit, becomes your strength. As you go through your days, that power is what enables you to bear true witness, so that others might catch a glimpse of what Jesus is like by looking at your life.
