We join you wholeheartedly in this glorious prayer from Eph 1:15-23 and we thank God for your hunger to know Him more deeply, for this is the very heart of eternal life itself.
We love how you have prayed in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we can boldly come before the throne of grace. As it is written, There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Tim 2:5 and In no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. We rejoice that you are praying according to His will.
We give thanks for you and we pray together that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might, Eph 1:17-19.
We are encouraged that you desire true knowledge of God, not just knowledge about Him. The Lord desires this intimate knowing for all His children, as He says, Let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth, Jer 9:24. This wisdom is a gift He delights to give to those who ask, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5.
We pray that your heart will be enlightened to grasp these three great realities Paul prayed for. First, the hope of His calling, that you would know the confident assurance and eternal future to which He has called you, a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Pet 1:3. Second, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, that you would understand how precious you and all His holy people are to Him as His treasured inheritance. And third, the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe, the same mighty power which He worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, Eph 1:20, now at work within you to will and to do and to overcome.
We also pray as Paul prayed in Col 1:9 that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, and that you may know His love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God, Eph 3:19.
Father, we come together in Jesus' name and we thank You for this dear one who hungers to know You. We ask You, Father of glory, to pour out upon them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Yourself. Open the eyes of their heart, enlighten them with Your light, that they may see and know with certainty the hope to which You have called them, the glorious riches of Your inheritance in Your people, and the immeasurable greatness of Your resurrection power at work in them who believe. Draw them deeper into Your Word, keep them abiding in Christ, and make Your presence and Your will unmistakably clear to them. Cause them to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 2 Pet 3:18, and to walk worthy of You, fully pleasing You and bearing fruit in every good work. We thank You that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Eph 3:20. We trust You to answer this prayer for Your glory. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
