Eph 1:15 "For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all those God has Made Holy, 16 do not cease giving thanks for you in my praying: 17 'That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a Spirit of Wisdom and of Revelation in the true knowledge of Himself. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so you will know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in those who have been sanctified, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accord with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He exerted in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His Right Hand in the Heavenly Places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, in this age and in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way,'" Eph 1:15-23.

We lift our hearts in agreement with your cry for wisdom, revelation, and deeper intimacy with God, as beautifully expressed in Ephesians 1:15-23. What a glorious passage, one that stirs our spirits to seek the fullness of what God has prepared for those who love Him! We join you in praying that the eyes of our hearts would be flooded with divine light, that we might grasp the hope of His calling, the riches of His inheritance, and the incomparable power available to us through Christ.

Father in Heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. You alone are the God of glory, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the giver of every perfect gift. We ask, just as Paul prayed, that You would pour out upon us a Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Yourself. Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord, that we may see You more clearly, love You more deeply, and follow You more nearly. Let us not be satisfied with surface-level faith but hunger and thirst for righteousness, that we may be filled with the fullness of You.

We pray that we would know the hope to which You have called us, the confident expectation of eternal life, the redemption of our bodies, and the glorious inheritance that awaits us in Christ. May we live as children of the light, reflecting Your holiness and grace in a world that so desperately needs You. Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for we know that our labor in the Lord is never in vain.

And oh, Lord, what a staggering truth, that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand is at work within us! We declare that power over every stronghold, every doubt, every fear, and every scheme of the enemy. You have placed all things under the feet of Jesus, and we stand in that authority as His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Strengthen us by Your might, that we may walk in victory and proclaim Your kingdom with boldness.

We rebuke every spirit of confusion, apathy, or unbelief that would seek to dim our vision or distract us from Your purposes. We declare that we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us, and nothing can separate us from Your love. May our lives be a living testimony to Your surpassing greatness, drawing others into the hope of Your calling.

For those reading this who may not yet know Jesus as Lord, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, only Jesus, who died for our sins and rose again, offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe. If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so now. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved. For "whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13).

May we, as the body of Christ, walk in the fullness of what You have for us, Father. Let us be a people marked by love, unity, and power, shining as lights in the darkness until the day of Christ’s return. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, to whom be all glory, honor, and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

What a beautiful and profoundly personal prayer to bring before the Lord, echoing Paul’s own heart for the Ephesians. We join you in asking for exactly these things, because they are at the very core of living the life we were made for: truly knowing God, not just about Him.

One thing we’ve seen is that this kind of knowing often grows not in a sudden flash but through the daily, honest practice of bringing our real selves before God. The Spirit grants wisdom and revelation right in the middle of our ordinary moments, as we sit with Scripture, as we worship, and as we simply tell Him we want more of Him, even when we feel dry or distracted. The desire you’re expressing is itself evidence that the Spirit is already at work, stirring your heart.

If you haven’t already, you might try taking this very passage and praying it back to God each morning for a season, letting each phrase sink in slowly. Ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten the eyes of your heart in the specific situations you face today, where you need to see His hope, where you need to know the riches of your inheritance, where you need to experience His power. Sometimes we discover those things most clearly in the midst of our weaknesses.

Remember that this power is the same power that raised Christ from the dead, it isn’t distant or stingy. He is able to ground you in hope that doesn’t fade, and to give you a deep, unshakable sense of belonging to Him. That doesn’t mean life’s hardships vanish, but it does mean they don’t have the final word.

Father, thank You for stirring such a deep longing in our friend’s heart. Grant the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of You. Enlighten the eyes of their heart so that hope, inheritance, and power become living realities that anchor every step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

This prayer for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God, the hope of His calling, the riches of His inheritance, the exceeding greatness of His power, is a cry that must find its answer outside of you. It must come to us by revelation from God, for we cannot find it by our own efforts. There is not much more wisdom in man’s judgment of God than in the flies’ fabled judgment of an elephant. Another says, “I feel much that is good within myself and I believe that I have strength enough and wisdom enough to find my way to Heaven.” Ah, you may be strong as a fierce lion, but you know not the way of wisdom! That is the very opposite way to yours. Until you are totally separate from all consciousness of hope in yourself, there is no hope that the Gospel will ever be any power to you.

But when you shall throw up your hands like a drowning man, feeling, “It is all over with me! I am lost, lost, unless a stronger than I shall interpose,” then you are near the kingdom. For Christ is the wisdom of God, and His gospel is the highest of all sciences. If thou wishest to find wisdom, thou must find it in the word of revelation. Christ personally is the power of God and the wisdom of God; Christ’s gospel is the power of God and the wisdom of God; Christ in the heart, true religion, is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This is your sole hope: “Come unto Me, and I will give you rest.” Do you ask who He is that utters these words? He who knows His Father’s eternal purpose yet fears not to give this invitation. All power is given unto Him in heaven and in earth, and it is He who says to you, “Come unto Me.” He does not invite you in order that you may bring power to Him, but that you may receive power from Him. If you come unto Him, He will help you to overcome your sins and to bear your daily burdens. Not you good people who hope to enter heaven by your own works does He call, but you sinful ones. “In due time Christ died for the ungodly.” It is sinners whom He calls to come to Him.

And when, one by one, He calls them to Himself by what theologians term effectual calling, and it is a good expression, for it is effectual calling, then the sheep hear His voice and they rise up at once and follow Him, for they know His voice, and He leads them out. Is thy calling a heavenly calling? Have you been called, not of man but of God? Can you now detect in your calling the hand of God and the voice of God? If man alone call thee, thou art uncalled. Is thy calling of God, and is it a call to heaven as well as from heaven? Recollect, if you are truly called it is a high calling, a calling from on high, and a calling that lifts up your heart and sets it upon heavenly things.

Such a calling brings with it the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. I would say of this inheritance which God has prepared for His saints and has given to them by a covenant of salt that it is exceedingly broad. We are petty princelings when we might have an imperial inheritance. When we at first come to Christ by faith, we begin to enter into our inheritance, for we obtain the pardon of sin. Thus have we surveyed our measureless inheritance. We have tasted and handled and lived upon these things, and being established in them we are not to be moved from the hope of our calling.

See then the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe: Christ’s gospel is a thing of divine power. Has He given you “a good hope through grace”? Can you now say, “On Him I lean; on my beloved I stay myself”? If so, go away and rejoice; you are a saint, for the apostle has said, “He is unto us who are saved, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” Try to exhibit that spirit wherever you are, and prove to the worldling that in your experience at least Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Oh, may God give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Himself. I trust the Holy Spirit is calling you. If you have a desire to come, if you are forcing your way through the crowd to get to Christ, then it is because Christ is calling thee. Come to Jesus, believe His love, trust His mercy. They can cling, trust, cry and love, and to such the Lord opens up the treasures of wisdom. The objects of divine choice are such as these. Lord, let him be one among them.

What great affection the blessed Paul pours out for you in this very prayer, making mention of you without ceasing and giving thanks to God. He does not ask for earthly riches or fleeting honors, but that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Himself. This is no small request, for to know God is the sum of all blessedness, and yet no words of human teaching can confer this. It must be the work of the Holy Spirit within you, shining light into the eyes of your heart.

When the Apostle speaks of the hope of His calling and the riches of His glorious inheritance, he points to things too vast for the mind to grasp by its own strength. The depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God surpasses all measure, like a solid body whose breadth and length and height and depth extend everywhere. You cannot comprehend these mysteries through the wisdom of this world, for the world through its wisdom knew not God. To Jews, such preaching is a stumbling block, and to Greeks, foolishness, but to those who are called, Christ is the very power of God and the wisdom of God. If you would know this surpassing greatness of His power, look to the Cross and the empty tomb. It was there that God exerted the strength of His might, raising Christ from the dead and seating Him far above all rule and authority. This same power is toward you who believe, not to make you proud, but to strengthen you against every trial and carnal reasoning. His power is made perfect in weakness, and His grace flows most abundantly when human strength fails utterly. Therefore, seek not to understand by your own intelligence alone, but lean upon the Spirit who gives revelation. And let your faith be directed aright: believe that He is God, and that He does all things by His own authority. Use whatever measure of wisdom you receive not for your own ruin, but for the common advantage of the body of Christ, which is His Church, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

What you are asking for is exactly what the Spirit delights to give. You have brought before the Lord the very prayer Paul prayed, and that is a perfect place to start. Your desire is not for head knowledge or a list of theological facts, but for a true knowing, a knowledge of God Himself. That will never come by study alone. There are countless false ideas about who God is floating around, but a true knowledge of His heart, His character, and His glory comes only one way. It takes a work of the Spirit, a revelation, to illuminate the eyes of your understanding. So ask, and keep asking, for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to open the Scriptures to you and to unveil the Father of glory before your heart.

The hope of His calling is not a vague wish. It is a living certainty rooted in Jesus Christ, the One who was dead and is alive forevermore. He is the first begotten of the dead, the prince of the kings of the earth. Because He rose and ascended, our hope is anchored beyond the veil, in the heavenly places where He sits. That hope includes your inheritance, the riches of His glory in the saints. Right now, the Holy Spirit living in you is the down payment, the earnest, that guarantees the full possession of everything God has promised. He proves God is serious about redeeming you completely. The world rushes toward a time of darkness and judgment that it deserves, but your path is different. You have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of the Son of His love. Your inheritance is not wrath but the abundance of His grace.

And the power available to you now is the same surpassing power that raised Jesus from the dead. This is not a trickle of energy but an explosive force that shook death itself and seated Christ far above every rule and authority. You need to know this power because your life is not meant to be lived in your own strength. This power works in accord with the very might of God. The one who holds the keys of the house of David, who opens and no one shuts, who is faithful and true with eyes like a flame of fire, is the head over all things for His body, the church.

That is where the knowledge leads. It is not a truth you figure out; it is a Person you see. When John saw Him on the isle of Patmos, the voice that sounded like a waterfall came from the Son of God in His glorified state, walking among the lampstands. That is the Lord in your midst. The Spirit’s work is always to bring you into that vision of Jesus, the true and faithful witness. So as you continue in this prayer from Ephesians, let your heart be fixed not on the abstract concept of power, but on the living Christ who is the fountain of it all. He washes you from your sins, makes you part of a kingdom of priests, and is worthy to receive all power, riches, wisdom, and strength. When your inner eyes truly see Him, you will also grasp the measure of the hope, the wealth of the inheritance, and the very real power that is for you now.
