Eph 1:15 "For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all those God has Made Holy, 16 do not cease giving thanks for you in my praying: 17 'That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a Spirit of Wisdom and of Revelation in the true knowledge of Himself. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so you will know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in those who have been sanctified, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accord with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He exerted in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His Right Hand in the Heavenly Places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, in this age and in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way,'" Eph 1:15-23.

We join with you in lifting up this powerful prayer from Ephesians 1:15-23, for it is a cry that resonates deeply within our own hearts as well. What a glorious truth, that the same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at the right hand of the Father is available to us who believe! We too long for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to flood our understanding, that we may know God more intimately, grasp the hope of His calling, and walk in the surpassing greatness of His power.

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to You. We ask that You would open the eyes of our hearts, that we may see the hope to which You have called us, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints. Lord, we confess that too often we walk in spiritual blindness, distracted by the temporary things of this world. Forgive us, and renew in us a hunger for Your truth. Let Your Word dwell in us richly, and may Your Spirit reveal the depths of Your love and power.

We rebuke every lie of the enemy that seeks to diminish our understanding of who You are and what You have done for us. The same power that conquered sin and death now lives within us through Christ Jesus! Help us to walk in that reality, not as those who are weak or defeated, but as those who are seated with Christ in heavenly places. May we live as children of light, reflecting Your glory in all we do.

We also pray for those who may read this and do not yet know You, Lord. If there is anyone who has not surrendered their life to Jesus Christ, we plead with them now to repent and believe. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). If you are reading this and have not yet placed your faith in Christ, we urge you to turn to Him today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and receive the gift of eternal life.

For those of us who do know You, Lord, we ask that You would deepen our revelation of Your calling. Let us not be satisfied with a superficial faith, but press on to know You more. May we walk in the fullness of Your power, demonstrating Your love and truth to a lost and broken world.

We declare that Your church is the body of Christ, and You are the head. Unite us in love and purpose, that we may fulfill the great commission and bring glory to Your name. Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness and rest in the knowledge that You are working all things together for our good.

We understand that deep longing to truly know God, not just facts about Him, but the living, breathing reality Paul describes. What strikes us in your request is that you’re not asking for something trivial; you’re reaching for the very things Scripture says the Holy Spirit already makes available to every believer. The “Spirit of wisdom and revelation” isn’t reserved for a few, it’s part of our inheritance in Christ, and your hunger for it is actually evidence of the Spirit drawing you closer.

One thing we’ve learned is that the “eyes of the heart” are often enlightened gradually, not in a single flash. That can be both humbling and freeing. It means the glimpses you’re already receiving, the moments where hope rises, where you sense God’s presence, where a passage of Scripture suddenly feels alive, are genuine encounters with the power that raised Jesus from the dead. You’re already on the path, and the desire itself is a gift.

Sometimes when people express what you’re asking, they’re also entering a season where spiritual growth feels slower and less measurable than they expected. That’s normal. In God’s kindness, the Spirit often uses steady, unhurried rhythms, time in His Word, honest prayer, worship alongside others, to reshape our capacity to know Him. The goal isn’t to manufacture a powerful experience, but to keep showing up with an open heart and trusting that He will do what Paul prayed for.

Father, we thank you that this deep yearning for wisdom and revelation comes from you. Open the eyes of their heart so they might see clearly the hope you’ve called them into, the staggering richness of your inheritance, and the same power that raised Christ Jesus from the dead, power that is already at work in them. Let them sense your nearness today, and steady them when the process feels slow. In Jesus’ name.

You have brought before the Lord a prayer that is itself the very mind of the Spirit, for it is drawn from the Word of Inspiration. When we pray according to the Scriptures, we may be assured we ask according to the will of God. How blessed to plead that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would grant a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Himself! This is the true wisdom, not the crafty policy of the world, nor the dim reasonings of the natural man, but the wisdom that comes from above, which is Christ made unto us wisdom. He is the power of God and the wisdom of God; in His person, in His gospel, and in the heart by faith, all the treasures of divine knowledge are hidden. Would you know the hope of His calling? Then fix your gaze upon Christ, for the hope laid up for you is not a fable, but a living certainty sealed by His resurrection from the dead. The calling of God is without repentance; He has effectually summoned you by His grace, and this calling is as fixed as the throne of God and of the Lamb.

The riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, what a vast estate this is! It is a goodly heritage, broad and full of delights. In Christ, we have already obtained this inheritance, for we are joint-heirs with Him. Yet how many of the Lord’s people live as paupers when they might enjoy the fat things full of marrow! It is time we took possession of our own land, by faith, laying hold upon the exceeding great and precious promises, and feasting upon the truths of revelation where the Sun of Righteousness shines in His glory. Do not tremble or despair; these are the true sayings of God, and He who has given the promise will surely perform it.

And what of the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe? This is no mere human force, but the very energy which raised Christ from the dead and set Him at the Father’s right hand, far above all rule and authority. This power is exercised for us and in us by the indwelling Spirit. It is power with God, not physical might, nor the lies and pretences of the ungodly, but the power of faith that pleads the promises and the relationships of grace. True power takes the shape of prayer, wrestling like Jacob, prevailing with the Angel of the Covenant, until we are made princes with God. Have you not found it so, when your soul has laid hold of the throne and would not let go until the blessing came?

Therefore, dear soul, weary not yourself with any other method of finding light or strength. There is no hope in your own endeavors, nor in any wisdom of the flesh, but there is hope in Him whom God has provided to be the Saviour. Christ Jesus, the Lamb in the midst of the throne, knows our frame and remembers our sorrows; He calls to the heavy-laden, “Come unto Me.” He is the one Mediator, the revelation of the Father, and in Him every spiritual blessing is stored. Look to Him alone, trust wholly in His finished work, and the eyes of your heart shall be enlightened, for He is the true light. The glorious inheritance awaits full possession; until then, live in the joy of its earnest, and magnify the Lord who has given you a title deed written in blood. May you prove, in your own experience, the exceeding greatness of His power, as you go forward in this evil age, upheld by the same might that exalted your risen Head. To Him be glory for ever.

You bring before the church a request that burns with the very words of the Apostle: that the Father of glory may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of Him. This is no common petition. To seek the hope of His calling, the riches of His inheritance, and the surpassing greatness of His power, this is to ask for nothing less than the full unveiling of what God has prepared for those who love Him. I give thanks unceasingly whenever I hear such a cry rise from a believing heart, for it shows that the Spirit is already stirring within you.

Yet mark carefully how this wisdom comes. The world, with all its disputers and scribes, did not know God through its own wisdom. So God chose what seems foolish, the preaching of Christ crucified, to save those who believe. That same Cross, a stumbling block to the proud and nonsense to the worldly wise, is the very power of God and the wisdom of God. If you would know the hope of your calling and the immeasurable greatness of His power, do not climb up by human reasoning as though you could grasp the divine nature with your understanding. Even the peace of God surpasses all comprehension; how much more God Himself? Receive this, then, with faith and reverence. For Christ has been made unto us wisdom from God, along with righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. Not Plato’s learning, not the cleverness of this age, but Christ Himself, and He crucified, is your wisdom. Hold fast to Him, and the Father of glory will give you the Spirit who enlightens the eyes of your heart.

The power you long to know is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him far above every rule and authority, filling all things. This is not a mere force you can measure; it is the working of God’s strength exerted in Christ on your behalf. I pray you see, then, that only by the Holy Spirit can you be strengthened to comprehend what is the breadth and length and height and depth of this love. The cross seems weak, but it is mightier than all. The story of a crucified Savior appears foolish, yet it is wiser than all the schemes of men. Rest here, and do not trust in your own intelligence. A man can receive nothing except it be given him from heaven.

Let your life match your prayer. You ask for such gifts; be careful then to use them as a faithful and wise steward. If the Spirit opens the eyes of your heart, do not waste that light on vanity or hide it for yourself alone. Walk in purity, for a clear eye easily receives the sun’s brightness, while a bleary eye blames the sun for its darkness. Give thanks without ceasing, even as you request, and cling to the body of Christ, the church, which is the fullness of Him who fills all in all. The Lord who stirred this desire within you will surely complete it, for He is faithful who called you, and His power works mightily in all who believe.

What a beautiful prayer has been placed on your heart, drawn straight from the words the apostle Paul himself prayed over the church. To ask for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the true knowledge of God is to ask for exactly what the Lord delights to give. This is not a wisdom that comes from books or human reasoning, but an unveiling, an insight into the spiritual realities that surround us and are anchored in the eternal character of God. He is the One who is, who was, and who is to come, existing above all time and sequence. To know Him is to have the eyes of your heart flooded with light, able to see past the temporary and into the steadfast, unchanging purpose He has for you.

The hope of His calling is not a fragile wish, but a confident expectation. It rests entirely on what Jesus Christ has already accomplished. Think of where He is now seated at the right hand of the Father, far above every rule, authority, power, and dominion. The same power that raised Him from the dead and enthroned Him in the heavenly places is the power at work toward you who believe. This is not a distant or theoretical force; it is the dynamic, surpassing greatness of His might, the very resurrection life of Christ actively sustaining you. The inheritance waiting for you is not a mere plot of land or a temporary reward. It is the fullness of being made a pillar in the temple of God, secure and with His name written upon you, a citizen of the New Jerusalem. It is access to the tree of life in the paradise of God.

This is why, when you pray, you can join with the ceaseless worship around the heavenly throne. The cherubim declare, "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty." Their vision is filled with the glory of the One seated there. That same Spirit who worked the complete, sevenfold perfection of wisdom and understanding in Jesus is the Spirit given to you as the down payment, the earnest, of that entire purchased possession. He is the guarantee that the full inheritance will be delivered. So as you seek that wisdom and revelation, you are not striving to pry open a sealed book. In Christ, the mystery is unveiled. His life, death, and resurrection are the definitive revelation of what God is like, the true and faithful witness. The more you see Him, the more you will grasp the staggering riches of the glory of being counted among His holy ones, and the more you will live in the confidence that the power which holds the cosmos in subjection is the very power that holds you.
