Silas
Beloved of All
Your love for your children and your burden for the unity of your home is clear, and it is right to bring all of this before the Lord in prayer. God hears the cry of a parent who wants to see her children walk in wisdom, purity, and peace.
We join you in praying for your younger daughter. We ask the Lord to give her wisdom and understanding in her classes and in her lab work, to help her work diligently and efficiently without wearing herself out, and to keep her safe as she drives and as she moves closer to her school. The Scripture teaches that wisdom comes from God and He gives it generously to those who ask, and we pray He will anoint her studies and guard her steps. We also pray for her health, that the Lord in His mercy would touch her body and ease the pain and weakness she carries, and for her spirit, that she would be filled with peace and joy and satisfaction in Christ.
We pray with you that she would continue to see her brother as a blessing and not as a burden. In God's eyes children are always a gift and a blessing, not a liability, even when the world around us treats them as an inconvenience. It is beautiful that she has loved and been proud of her brother, and we ask God to protect that tender heart and keep it from growing cold through negative influences. We pray He will surround her with pure, godly friendships that encourage her faith and respect the way she was raised, and that He will give her clear discernment to step away from any friendship that consistently leaves her withdrawn, troubled, or uneasy. A true friend strengthens faith and peace, not confusion and heaviness.
We rejoice with you in the respectful courtship the Lord has allowed in her life. We pray God will continue to guide that relationship with humility, respect, purity, and understanding toward your whole family, including her brother, and that if it is His will, He will lead it in His timing toward the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. We pray it will remain honoring to the Lord and to your family, and that your bond with your daughter would remain strong and unbreakable in Christ.
We also lift up your older daughter with deep compassion. Your heart aches rightly, because living together outside of marriage is not marriage in God's eyes, and Scripture reserves sexual union and shared home life for the covenant of marriage. That path does not protect a woman's worth or future, and it often brings isolation, financial exploitation, and distance from family, church, and faith. We do not ask God to bless what He calls outside His design, but we do ask Him to open her eyes, to restore her love for Him, for her family, and for her work, and to give her courage and wisdom to step out of a controlling and dishonoring relationship swiftly. We pray she will stop defending what harms her, that she will seek counsel that is truthful and godly, and that the Lord will restore her freedom, joy, self worth, and purpose. We pray also for the young man and his family, that God would convict and restrain what is manipulative and dishonest, and teach them to take responsibility for their own lives rather than overstepping into yours.
For your whole household, remember this foundational truth. Our relationship with God is primary. The first commandments concern loving God with all our heart, and only when that vertical relationship is right can our horizontal relationships with one another be made right. When family relationships become tangled and painful, the answer is not only to try harder to fix one another, but to return to the Lord together and let Him set our hearts in order before Him. The family is the foundation God established for society, with love and mutual respect, and when that foundation is weakened, everyone feels it, but children especially feel the pain of division most deeply.
Take comfort that God is sovereign even over difficult and painful circumstances. Just as He sovereignly moved Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem through an earthly decree in order to fulfill His promise, He is able to rule over every detail of your family's life to accomplish His good purposes. What others may intend for division or harm, God is able to reverse and turn for good, as He did for Joseph in Egypt, whom He sent ahead to preserve his family alive. No evil device prospers beyond what God allows, and He watches over His own children. You are not abandoned to spiritual attacks, word curses, or schemes. In Christ you have forgiveness, protection, and access to the Father, and you can stand in the full armor God provides and in the promise that no weapon formed against you shall finally prevail.
We pray that God would frustrate every plan that seeks to bring jealousy, division, isolation, and disrespect into your home, and that He would saturate your home again with His peace that surpasses understanding, with love, honesty, and unity. We pray for your son, that the Lord would grant him peace of mind, protect him from setbacks, and continue His healing and breakthrough in his life, including growth in his ability to communicate, for with God nothing is impossible.
Continue to walk closely with the Lord yourself, seeking His strength, courage, and knowledge for each challenge. Teach your children by example that if anyone, even one we love, asks us to do what is sinful or dishonoring to God, our obligation is to obey God rather than man, and that stepping away from the center of God's will often begins with small compromises that lead us to places where a child of God has no business being. As your younger daughter grows, she remains under your care and guidance until the time the Lord appoints for her next season, and we pray God gives you wisdom as you shepherd her.
May the Lord keep you and your children in His hedge of protection, cover you with the blood of Jesus, surround you with His ministering angels, and restore thankfulness, respect, and unbreakable love between you. We trust Him to do what only He can do, to bring healing where there has been brokenness and light where there has been confusion, and to make His loving relationship with each of you the source from which every other relationship is healed.
