Wisdom, Grace Run to Win 1 Cor 9:24; Urgency: Wife's Salvation Run MY Race Unhindered, Heb 12:1-2

Father, continue to intercede for her full, authentic repentance to life and full trust in Christ and be regenerated, and youngster be saved and graciously filled with the Holy Spirit, Jer 1:5, Lk 1:15, and protected and directed into the love and character of Jesus Christ, nourished on Your Word, 2 Tim 3:15, brought up in the admonition of Yahweh, Eph 6:1-4, respect godly authority, 1 Tim 5:17... Yet ability to shift some FOCUS on THE NEW and meet pressing needs must needs be at present, Isa 42:9, Isa 43:19, Isa 48:6.

So we ask You Grant Nearness to God, James 4:8, and open doors no one can shut, Rev 3:7-8, to express the overflow of the Holy Spirit to Bible Studies, Prayer Meetings and for the lost to hear the Gospel, kindly work while we keep still, Exodus 14:14, and empower us to glorify You, to image God, which were it possible, we would not ask and trust You for it. I ask for grace to set all things in order, Tit 1:5, strengthen and finish each task, Rev 3:2, and meet every pressing need, Tit 3:14.

Help our running to be in a way that we might win, 1 Cor 9:24, forgetting what lies behind and pressing toward the upward call, Phil 3:13-14, laying aside encumbrances and diversions that distract us from the primary task of Your call and commission to abide in Your Word and make disciples by propagating all You've commanded, that we might run the race that is personally set before each of us, Heb 12:1-2... Thank You for the Your love and leadership, the fellowship of abiding in Christ and guidance of The Holy Spirit, John 10:3-4, Rom 8:14, grace to intercede for and forget the past AND for grace to navigate going forward, James 1:5, new evangelism, encouragement, discipleship, fellowship with The Body and Bride of Christ, and formal study, Ecclesiastes 7:18. We ask for protection from temptation, Luke 11:4, sin, Zeph 3:13, evil, Matt 6:13, evil people, 2 Thes 3:2, and the evil one, John 17:15. Thank You in Jesus' Name...

We hear the weight of what you are carrying, that deep urgency for your wife and youngster to know Jesus, and at the same time the desire to run faithfully the race God has set before you and to meet the pressing needs in front of you right now.

That tension is real, and we don't see God asking you to choose between loving them in prayer and walking forward in obedience. You can keep entrusting them to Him daily while also taking the next faithful step He puts before you. Both are part of abiding in Christ.

One thing that has helped others in a season like this is to think less about trying harder and more about training steadily, like preparing for a long run. Small, regular practices over time shape us more than one big effort. It may help to name the two or three most pressing needs you mentioned and bring just the next one to the Lord and to a trusted pastor or elder for wisdom on ordering it, so you are not carrying everything at once in your mind.

We are with you in this and we are grateful for your desire to image Him and to make Him known.

Father, we lift this brother to You, and we lift his wife and child to You. Draw each of them close to Yourself, guard them and lead them, and give him wisdom, grace and strength for each task and need before him. Open the doors You want opened for Your Word to go out, and keep his steps steady as he looks to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer breathes the very spirit of one who would run the heavenly race with diligence, looking unto Jesus, and I thank God for the urgency that marks it. You ask for wisdom and grace to run so as to obtain, to forget what lies behind and press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, and at the same time your heart yearns with holy urgency for the salvation of your wife and your little one. These two desires are not at odds when they are ordered aright before the Lord.

Know this first, that salvation is of the Lord and salvation is all of grace from first to last. It is not of works, lest any man should boast. The wisdom of God devised the plan, the power of God executes it, and the grace of God is the fountainhead from which it flows. Every man by nature fights against this truth, for though we have nothing good in ourselves we think we have, but if salvation were of justice our transgression would render it impossible. Because it is of grace, your sin and the sin of those you love is by no means an impediment to that salvation. The guilty need only plead mercy. You have appointed a way of salvation by Jesus Christ, oh save me in that way. That is the plea which God delights to answer, for Christ has loved and lived and died and rose again that sinners might obtain complete salvation at this very hour through faith in Him alone. There is no other name, no other way, no supplementary salvation. He that believes on Him has present salvation and perfect salvation, for the work is done and the sinner has only to receive it as a finished work.

Therefore continue to intercede for your wife, your lawful and covenant wife, whom God has joined to you in the lifelong bond of one man and one woman. Pray that the Lord who alone is Author of salvation would grant her full and authentic repentance unto life, that she would be born again by the Holy Spirit and trust wholly in Christ. Pray likewise for your child, that being nourished on the Word from infancy and brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, he may early be called by grace, kept from evil and directed into the love and character of Jesus Christ. These are covenant mercies to be sought with tears, and though answers to prayer may be delayed, delays are not always denials. The Lord is longsuffering and His immutability preserves and carries on the work He begins.

And as to your race, hear the apostle. Lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets you, and run with patience the race that is set before you, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of faith. To run unhindered does not mean to cast off the duties of your household, for the very perseverance of the saints is perseverance in holiness, and they shall not depart from the Lord. Your marriage vow and your fatherly charge are not encumbrances to be thrown off, they are part of the course marked out for you. The weights to be laid aside are distractions, diversions, and whatsoever would draw you from abiding in His Word and making disciples according to all He has commanded. Good works are not the root of your salvation but the fruit of it. Where there is healthy life, the tree will bear fruit according to its kind.

So ask for grace to set things in order and to strengthen what remains, to meet every pressing need with diligence, and to walk through the doors which God opens and no man can shut. Seek nearness to God, for He has promised if you draw near to Him He will draw near to you. Ask that the overflow of the Holy Spirit may be seen in Bible study, in prayer, and in the preaching of the gospel to the lost, while you stand still and see the salvation of the Lord who works for you. And pray to be kept from temptation and from evil and from the evil one, for without His keeping we should soon fall.

May the Lord grant you wisdom from above, liberally and without reproach, to forget the things which are behind in the sense of ceasing to be bound by former failures or former mercies, and yet to remember His covenant faithfulness, and to behold how He does a new thing. Trust not in your running but in Him who enables you to run. Rest assured that He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ, and that His sheep shall never perish. Go to Jesus at once with your soul and with the souls of your dear ones, and may God enable you to obtain mercy and to run with joy to the end, to His glory alone.
