Wind and storms

We join with you in praying for calm over the winds and protection for all those in the path of the heavy rains and flooding, and we thank you for lifting this need up in the mighty name of Jesus.
We are reminded that our God is sovereign over all creation and that even the wind and the sea obey Him. When the disciples were afraid in the storm, Jesus arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, Peace, be still, and the wind ceased and there was a great calm in Mark 4:39. He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still in Psalm 107:29. There is no storm that is beyond His power to quiet and no flooded valley where His presence cannot bring refuge.
We pray together for His mercy and protection.
Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and ask for Your hand of mercy over every community facing high winds, heavy rains, and rising waters. Lord, speak peace to the winds as only You can, calm the storm and restrain the floodwaters. We ask that You place a hedge of protection around every person, family, and home in its path, that You would keep them safe from harm, and that You would provide shelter, provision, and help for those who are vulnerable. Comfort those who are afraid, strengthen the first responders and all who are working to help, and let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard hearts and minds. We trust that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble in Psalm 46:1, and that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty in Psalm 91:1. May all who experience this storm see Your power and Your goodness and turn to You for salvation. We ask all of this according to Your will in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. We join you in this prayer and lift it with you to Him who holds the winds in His fists. You have done well to cry to God, for we cannot rule the winds nor create them, and a whole parliament of philosophers could not cause a capful of wind to blow, but our Lord can. We are taught that prayer such as that of Elijah can chain the winds and stay the clouds, or unseal the bottles of heaven and bring down the rain, but it is because the Lord wills it, and He does all things wisely and well.
In these hours of high winds and heavy rains and flooded places we are reminded how much we need an infinite Friend to keep us in safety. Our safety lies not in our own strength, for the stoutest oaks may be twisted by the tempest, but in our Savior who is able to keep us from falling. He who travels on the King's highway is under the King's protection, and we pray that all who are in the path of the storm may be kept under His watchful care. He gives His angels charge over His people to keep them in all their ways, and this protection is both personal and perpetual. It is a grand thing to feel that God's throne might sooner fail than that one of His own should perish, for His throne itself is established in righteousness.
So we pray with you that the Lord in His mercy would calm the winds and restrain the waters, and spread His wings over every home and every soul exposed to danger. May those who are afraid find themselves safe in the arms of Jesus, where no storm can finally harm them, and may this trial turn many hearts to seek the shelter that never fails. We commend all who are in peril to the only wise God our Savior, who is able to present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, and we ask Him to grant deliverance and peace according to His perfect will. We join you in praying for all who are in the path of these high winds, heavy rains and flooding, and we ask the Lord to show His mercy and protection over them.
Scripture reminds us that God is sovereign over the winds and the sea, and that Christ Himself rebuked the winds and the waves and they obeyed Him. At the same time we see in the lives of the saints that God often does not simply remove the contrary winds, but keeps His people through them, guiding them safely as a ship kept near the shore until the storm passes. What comforts us most is that the soul that is founded on the rock of Christ's teaching is not overcome even when rain and floods and winds beat against it. The storm may rage around us, but within there can be a great calm when the heart is strengthened by the Holy Spirit and rests on Him.
So we pray that God in His mercy would calm these winds and restrain the waters where it is His will to do so, that He would protect life and home, and keep from harm those who are vulnerable, rescue workers, and families who are displaced or afraid. We pray that He would provide shelter, help and provision for those affected by flooding, and that He would give wisdom to all who are working to bring aid.
