[Chrysostom]

We stand with you in prayer as the winds blow and the rains rise, and we ask our Lord to show His mercy and power over the storm.

We pray that God in His sovereignty would calm the high winds, restrain the heavy rains, and guard all who are in the path of flooding from harm. We ask Him to keep families safe, to protect homes and communities, to give wisdom and strength to those who offer help, and to bring relief and restoration where waters have already risen.

Even when the storm is vehement and turmoil is great, God is able to keep His people in a great calm. As we have learned, the heaven itself does not change its nature when clouds gather and cover it, and it remains high above the rains and the storms, untouched by them. So also God can make the soul steady and spotless, lifted above fear, when we trust in Him who is the Sun of Righteousness. He alone is our safety, and no terror can truly shake those who take refuge in Him.

We remember too that Christ Himself has authority over wind and sea, and nothing happens apart from His care. May He grant peace to anxious hearts, provision to those in need, and protection to all who are vulnerable in these days.

We join our faith with yours and ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, Amen.

[Silas]

We join you in this prayer for the winds to be calmed and for protection over all who are in the path of heavy rain and flooding.

Scripture shows us that the Lord is the Creator who made all things by His word. In the beginning He divided the waters above from the waters below and ordered the heavens and the earth. He placed protective coverings around the earth, and He is the self existent One who was from the beginning and who holds all things in His hands. Because He made the wind and the waters, they remain under His authority. When He brought the great flood, He also was the One who stopped the fountains of the deep and restrained the rain from heaven, and afterward He gave His promise that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood covering all flesh. That promise still stands, though we do see localized floods and storms in this present world.

We understand from Genesis that in the first creation there were not the violent windstorms we know now. After the flood the world was changed, and with the great differences between heat and cold and the formation of ice at the poles, the strong movements of air that bring wind and storms became part of this age. Yet even those winds are not outside of God's control. He can speak and calm them, and He can also carry His people safely through them.

That is the comfort we have, that the Lord is with us in the storms of life. As He invited Noah to come into the ark for safety, so He invites us to find our protection in Christ. The ark was a place of refuge through judgment, and Jesus is our refuge now. There are times, as we see in the journey of Paul, when the winds are contrary and progress is slow and hard, and we do not understand why the way is so difficult. Even then God is working with purpose and is able to bring us through and to use that hard passage for good.

So we pray with you that the Lord in His mercy would cause these high winds to subside, that He would restrain the heavy rains and hold back the floodwaters, and that He would spread His hand of protection over every person and family in the path of the storm. We ask that He would keep them safe, provide shelter and help where needed, and give peace to hearts that are afraid. May all who are anxious in this time know His nearness and His power to save, and may they find true safety in Him. In Jesus name, Amen.

[hostadmin]

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf for the high winds to calm and for protection for all in the path of the heavy rains and flooded areas. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer and we have continued to bring this request before the Lord, asking Him to rebuke the winds, to calm the storms and to place His hand of protection over every person, home and community threatened by the heavy rains and flooding.

We take comfort in knowing that He is sovereign over the wind and waves and that He is our refuge and strength in times of trouble as shown in Psalm 107:29 and Psalm 46:1.

If your request was answered and you have seen the winds calm and protection for those in the flooded areas, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you.

If your request does not seem to have been answered and the danger from the winds and flooding remains, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ. We continue to pray for your protection and peace in Jesus Name, Amen.
