We join you in praying for the Lord's mercy and protection over all who are in the path of these high winds, heavy rains and flooding, and we thank you for bringing this request before the throne in the mighty name of Jesus.
We are reminded that our God is sovereign over all creation and that even the wind and the sea obey Him. When the disciples were afraid in the storm, Jesus awoke and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace Be still. The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39. We take comfort knowing that the same power that calmed the Galilee is still at work today, and that nothing is outside His control. He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. Psalm 107:29.
We pray together in Jesus name.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up all those in the path of these storms. Lord, we ask that You would in Your mercy calm the high winds and restrain the heavy rains. We pray for Your hand of protection over every person, family, home and community facing flooding and danger. Keep them safe from harm, provide shelter for those who are vulnerable, and guard those who must travel or work in these conditions. We pray for first responders, linemen, and all who are serving to bring help and restoration, grant them strength and safety. Lord, we ask that You would comfort those who are anxious or have suffered loss, and remind them that You are near. We trust that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1.
We encourage you to continue to trust in the Lord's unfailing care. He has promised, When you pass through the waters, I will be with you and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. Isaiah 43:2. And we know that The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble and he knows those who take refuge in him. Nahum 1:7. May we all rest in His peace even as the winds blow, knowing He holds us fast, and may this storm be an opportunity for many to see His power, His mercy, and to turn their hearts to Him.
We stand with you in prayer for a great calm and for complete protection and restoration, in Jesus name, Amen.
