Wind and storms

Beloved of All
Praying for the high winds to calm and protection for all in the path of the heavy rains and flooded areas, in Jesus' name, Amen

We come before the Lord Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, who commands the winds and the waves, and we lift up those in the path of these storms. Father, we know that You are sovereign over all creation, and nothing happens outside of Your will. We ask for Your mercy and protection over those facing high winds, heavy rains, and flooding. Calm the storms, Lord, as You did when You spoke to the sea and said, "Peace, be still!" (Mark 4:39). We trust in Your power to shield lives, homes, and communities from harm.

We pray for those who may be in fear or danger, asking that You would be their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Surround them with Your angels, Lord, and give them wisdom to seek safety and shelter. For those who have already been affected, we ask for Your comfort and provision. Open the hearts of Your people to respond with generosity and love, showing the compassion of Christ to those in need.

Father, we also lift up the first responders, emergency workers, and volunteers who are risking their lives to help others. Protect them, strengthen them, and give them endurance as they serve in the midst of chaos. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

We rebuke the spirit of fear and destruction in the name of Jesus, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that Your light will shine in the darkness, and Your hope will prevail over despair. Let this storm be an opportunity for Your glory to be revealed, as lives are saved and hearts are drawn closer to You.

Lord, we thank You for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your unfailing love and know that You are working all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). May Your name be praised in the midst of this storm, and may Your peace reign in every heart. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We join our hearts with yours in asking for these winds to quiet and for everyone in the path of the storm to be kept safe. When the sky darkens and the rain won’t let up, it’s right to feel small, and it’s right to turn together to the One who isn’t.

While we pray, we also think of the simple, concrete ways we can look out for each other right now: staying indoors away from windows, having flashlights ready if the power goes, and checking in on neighbors who might need help securing outdoor furniture or getting to higher ground. If flooding has already begun near you, moving to the safest part of the house and avoiding driving through water are the kinds of wise steps that honor the life God has given. And if you or someone you know is in a particularly vulnerable spot, don’t hesitate to call local emergency services for help, that’s what they’re there for.

Lord Jesus, you calmed a storm on the lake with a word, and you still hold every gust and downpour in your hands. We ask you to shield those in the path of these winds and floods. Keep the water from rising where it threatens, steady the trees and rooftops, and give calm to everyone who is frightened tonight. Watch over the rescue workers, the families huddled together, and the ones who feel alone. In your name we pray, Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father God. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

How the rushing wind reminds us of our frailty, and yet also of the power of Him who rides upon the storm. You have done well to cry out for mercy, for none but the Lord of the tempest can say to the raging winds, "Peace, be still." I join my prayers with yours, pleading that the fierce gales would be hushed and that a shield of protection be spread over every soul in the path of the flood. The wind blows where it wishes, and no man can summon it or turn it back, but Jehovah holds the very tempest in the hollow of His hand. He who sent the soft south wind to melt the frost can also bridle the hurricane's fury at a word.

Remember, too, that the east wind is that ill wind which seems to blow no man any good. Yet even when it sets our teeth on edge and rattles the windows of our peace, we are not to let our religion be killed by the weather. If the storm still rages and the waters rise, set your face like a flint against the blast, leaning hard upon the everlasting arm. The flood of old swept away the unbeliever, but Noah, being hid in the ark, rode safely above the judgment. So now, our true safety is only in Christ, the Ark of our salvation. Come what may, His blood speaks better things than that of Abel; it pleads not for vengeance but for mercy over every contrite soul.

Pray then, not only for a lull in the storm, but for grace to stand fast should it continue. The rushing mighty wind can be a symbol of the Spirit's own coming, and even in the whirlwind the Lord may visit His people with reviving power. May He calm the elements, shield the helpless, and grant that in every flooded home there may be a heart at perfect peace, anchored fast within the veil. In Jesus' name, amen.

You pray for the winds to calm and for protection amid the heavy rains and flooded lands. This is well and good, calling upon the Lord in Jesus’ name is what we are made for. But hear this also: the storm that howls outside is not the one to dread most. The true tempest is within the soul, when the mind is troubled and faith grows faint. It is not circumstances that make the storm, but the condition of your own spirit. If you order your mind to bear all things with trust in God, there will be a steady calm no matter how fiercely the winds beat.

Remember that the Lord permits the gale to rise so that we might seek Him earnestly. When the disciples were tossed on the sea and the waves broke over the boat, He waited until they were at their limit, then He came, walking on the water, and with a word He stilled the surge. He does not always keep the tempest from us, but He is always present within it. His voice echoes still: “It is I, do not be afraid.” At that utterance, fear falls away. He allowed the storm that He might reveal His power; He went not immediately into the vessel that the wonder might be greater. So look for Him in this trial. He is not far off. He has authority over every gust and torrent.

Yet while you ask for external safety, worry more for the soul’s peace. The sea can be calm and still the soul shipwrecked. Many are terrified of a rising flood who never tremble at the flood of their own sins. Do not be like the man who clutches his goods while the ship sinks, throw overboard whatever weighs you down. If you have been clinging to wealth or comfort, make it an occasion for mercy. Open your hand to those suffering in this calamity. Lighten the vessel by giving alms; so you preserve not the body only, but the soul. A high-souled person is not one who spends on his own pleasures, but one who in crisis cares for others, despising his own ease. Show yourself great in this way: as you pray for protection, become protection for the needy around you.

Make your soul a heaven, bright, pure, far above the storms that assail the earth. The clouds may gather and the rain descend, but the sky beyond remains unchanged. So let your heart, fixed on Christ the Sun of Righteousness, remain unshaken. Call upon Him with reverence, not carelessly, but with tears and earnest cries as the saints did. Then you will know the calm that no weather can disturb, and whether the winds cease or continue, you will stand where the waves cannot reach. Trust the One whom wind and sea obey. He brings peace to every raging thing, within and without.
