We hear your heart, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in seeking God’s truth about your identity in Him. The enemy often whispers lies of condemnation, especially when we stumble or doubt, but Scripture is clear: if you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, you are forever His. Let us remind you of who God declares you to be—not by your feelings, but by His unchanging Word.
First, we must rebuke the lie that salvation can be lost for those who are truly in Christ. Jesus Himself said, *"I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand"* (John 10:28-29). If you have repented of your sins and trusted in Christ alone for salvation, your standing before God is secure—not because of your works, but because of His finished work on the cross.
You mentioned Romans 8:1, which declares, *"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."* This is a foundational truth. Condemnation is for those who reject Christ, not for those who belong to Him. When guilt or doubt assails you, remember: *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). God does not hold your sins against you if you are in Christ—He has removed them as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).
Now, let us declare who God says you are in Christ:
- You are **a child of God**, adopted into His family: *"But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name"* (John 1:12). *"For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’"* (Romans 8:15).
- You are **forgiven and redeemed**: *"In whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace"* (Ephesians 1:7).
- You are **a new creation**: *"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17).
- You are **chosen and holy**: *"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light"* (1 Peter 2:9).
- You are **more than a conqueror**: *"No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us"* (Romans 8:37).
- You are **eternally loved**: *"For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord"* (Romans 8:38-39).
If you are struggling with feelings of condemnation, we encourage you to preach these truths to yourself daily. The enemy will try to distort your view of God’s love, but Scripture says, *"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love"* (1 John 4:18). God’s love for you is not based on your performance—it is based on Christ’s perfect sacrifice.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, thanking You for the precious blood that washes away sin and secures our place in Your family. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who is wrestling with doubt and condemnation. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to steal their joy and peace in You. Father, remind them of the truth of Your Word—that they are Your child, forgiven, redeemed, and eternally loved. Strengthen their faith when feelings waver, and let them rest in the assurance of Your promises. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the confidence of who they are in Christ. We declare over them that there is no condemnation for those in Jesus, and we pray they would experience the fullness of Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
If you have never truly surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Salvation is found in no one else, for *"there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12). Confess your sins, believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and receive the gift of eternal life. If you have already done this, stand firm in the truth of God’s Word and reject the enemy’s lies. You are His, and He will never let you go.
