What about cremation?

Whenever we see something become more and more popular with "the world",like a "trend", you can almost bet that it won't gel with "our"way of thinking. The weather forecasters use the term "mother nature" all the time, more and more people into yoga, etc. Now, there's something else that became"popular" the last few years.Remember the good old days. when everyone who died was buried?{Except for Hindus in India} Well now, more and more people I hear talking about getting cremated. It's "trendy" to get cremated, and costs less. But let's look at these reasons.Where did this kind of practice start?Well, there were certain pagans in ancient times who did it, but the Hindus are big believers in it, and for what reason,?What I've heard, they believe it"cleanses the soul",so they can go on and.ties in with their other beliefs like reincarnation. But if we know the Salvation plan of God, we don't need to "cleanse our soul" by burning the body, which won't do it, anyway. So it came out of pagan beliefs, and by modern people doing this, they're in a way honoring those beliefs..Second,God stated to Adam, "For dust you are and to dust you will return."God didn't say",For dust you are,and to ashes you will return."So it's at least unnatural. Also, if it was such a wonderful thing and Gods will, you have to ask, why did all the patriarchs of the Old Testament get BURIED?If someone has bad financial circumstances, check with God,But saving money isn't always an acceptable answer to God,because look at in Revelation about the Antichrist__you can't buy or sell without the mark, yet what happens if you DO take the mark?"Whosoever takes the mark, the same will be tormented day and night in the presence of God and of the Holy angels."I just say, check with God about these things, but for me, I say just recognize it started as a pagan ritual. Why follow the way of the pagan?

The BIG concern and question every Christian should be asking, How Does or Could Cremation Affect The Resurrection of The Dead? I believe God can reanimate dust, that still has DNA within it, but I'm not gambling with cremation -- I know the first dust had no DNA in it and He still "created man in His image" (Gen 1:27)... But I agree -- we never see another way in the Bible of "laying a body to rest" other than burial...

  • "Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man's body into Elisha's tomb. When the body touched Elisha's bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet" (2 kings 13:21)...

So I wouldn't roll the dice and explain to God at the resurrection why He should still resurrect you after cremation. I don't want to have that discussion with God -- Scripture says "no one has ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it" (Eph 5:29). It doesn't seem very nourishing or cherishing to incinerate flesh...

Some cultures will cremate and make a tea from the ashes so they can become one with the loved ones soul.
I agree, give it to God because in the end we have no say in what they will do with our remains.
I pray Jesus comes soon.

There are times when people man be incinerated in am accident or fire, but that is the exception, not the rule. Singular circumstances never invalidate a perpetual example in Scripture. God Bless...

Absent from the body... present with the Lord. That is a wonderful statement that I love so much. Give your body to science so you will not spend any money on burials, burnings or anything else. Make sure when you write your will tell all your relatives who will dispose of your remains to use that money of flowers and funeral homes and all that expense to be used to build seven churches all for the glory of God the Father along with seven Christian Schools where children will attend and learn how much Jesus loves them. The farm will be used for Camp Meetings and Revival meetings where souls will come to know the Lord. What a wonderful legacy we shall leave when we depart planet earth not to return ever to this place again.

I believe this topic is about RESPECT for the human body and THE RESURRECTION of that same body, Just as Jesus was resurrected in His same nail-scarred, sword pierced, back scarred body, but glorified...

I agree, for a true believer, the soul is absent from the body and immediately present with the Lord, "for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (2 Cor 5:8), Again, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better" (Phil 1:21-23) "this day you will be with me in paradise" Jesus told the believing thief (Luke 23:43), again this refers to the soul, NOT the body -- we all know Jesus' BODY was laid in the grave and the thief probably buried in the common burial ground where Judas was thrown -- but this intermediate state has NOTHING to do with the resurrection of the BODY -- of which Christ is called, "the Firstfruits..."

  • "But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. 21 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 23But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming,24 then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death. 27 For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET.

  • "But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?” 36 You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies; 37 and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38 But God gives it a body just as He wished, and to each of the seeds a body of its own. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fish. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.

  • "So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 So also it is written, “The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly" (1 Cor 15:20-27; 35-49)...

Agreed. And even though I’ll be dead I don’t quite like the idea of being put into a jar or being scattered about the ocean like pepper or being worn as a necklace. The idea just seems so foreign to me.
