What about cremation?

Whenever we see something become more and more popular with "the world", like a "trend", you can almost bet that it won't gel with "our" way of thinking. The weather forecasters use the term "mother nature" all the time, more and more people into yoga, etc. Now, there's something else that became "popular" the last few years. Remember the good old days when everyone who died was buried? {Except for Hindus in India} Well now, more and more people I hear talking about getting cremated. It's "trendy" to get cremated, and costs less. But let's look at these reasons. Where did this kind of practice start? Well, there were certain pagans in ancient times who did it, but the Hindus are big believers in it, and for what reason? What I've heard, they believe it "cleanses the soul", so they can go on and ties in with their other beliefs like reincarnation. But if we know the Salvation plan of God, we don't need to "cleanse our soul" by burning the body, which won't do it, anyway. So it came out of pagan beliefs, and by modern people doing this, they're in a way honoring those beliefs. Second, God stated to Adam, "For dust you are and to dust you will return." God didn't say, "For dust you are, and to ashes you will return." So it's at least unnatural. Also, if it was such a wonderful thing and God's will, you have to ask, why did all the patriarchs of the Old Testament get BURIED? If someone has bad financial circumstances, check with God, but saving money isn't always an acceptable answer to God, because look at in Revelation about the Antichrist—you can't buy or sell without the mark, yet what happens if you DO take the mark? "Whosoever takes the mark, the same will be tormented day and night in the presence of God and of the Holy angels." I just say, check with God about these things, but for me, I say just recognize it started as a pagan ritual. Why follow the way of the pagan?

In Jesus name I pray that our God give us all the spirit of wisdom and understanding so that we may discern his will regarding this matter as well. Amen

Finally, someone who agrees with me. Some of the others seem to disagree.

Ha, ha, ###, don't be concerned, someone will always disagree with you, even when you give scriptural arguments, because there are a couple of different scriptures concerning something and it must be revealed by the Holy Spirit, if it's only in your mind, it would not have the power to change people's lives from the core, if you know what I mean. If someone is sure about his opinion, let him observe what was his opinion about it 10, 20 years ago, and you will see that things change, as we grow in revelation and learn new things. So if we are sure about our opinions to the core of our being we should share this as a little sermon, but stay calm if people disagree. Maybe they will change their opinion in a couple of years. Who knows. Still we can continue to love them (even the word tolerating them is sometimes enough, if you know what I mean), allowing that someone has a lower or higher understanding of things. And reconcile with it. Appreciate yourself and your growth, where you currently are, and things will go well with you. ###, you are my brother and that's what matters the most. God bless you...

Cultural background and practice have great influence on our world views about cremation. I am personally in conflict with the concept. I need Divine guidance about what is right. We are living in a totally different period. There's no space for burial.

###, can you explain this bit more, is it environemental issue? Thank you!
I read somewhere that hundreds of gallons of formaldehyde seeping into the ground each year. Not to mention what the concrete boxes do that they bury people in.
I don't see what the deal about cremation is. We will get new body's anyway. It's our souls that are being saved. Ill look into it more, and get back to you.
Anyway I'm asking Jesus to bless your day with the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit.
May you feel the love Him all day.

Some cultures will cremate and make a tea from the ashes so they can become one with the loved ones soul.
I agree, give it to God because in the end we have no say in what they will do with our remains.
I pray Jesus comes soon.

I don't know Lord how You feel about cremation but I would sure like to live in abundant joy on earth before I die. And I would like to buried whole, with beautiful makeup in a pink coffin with lace and satin to lay in. Christmas has pagan ties but we sure subdue it for Jesus and lift His name worldwide!!! Praise The Lord forever and ever in Jesus name. Jesus said "Let the dead bury themselves and come follow me." Cremation or coffin Hindu or Jew what matters is that JESUS lived inside of you! Have a good day and be blessed from the east coast of the United States. 6:26 am ###/###/##
