What about cremation?

Whenever we see something become more and more popular with "the world", like a "trend", you can almost bet that it won't gel with "our" way of thinking. The weather forecasters use the term "mother nature" all the time, more and more people into yoga, etc. Now, there's something else that became "popular" the last few years. Remember the good old days when everyone who died was buried? {Except for Hindus in India} Well now, more and more people I hear talking about getting cremated. It's "trendy" to get cremated, and costs less. But let's look at these reasons. Where did this kind of practice start? Well, there were certain pagans in ancient times who did it, but the Hindus are big believers in it, and for what reason? What I've heard, they believe it "cleanses the soul", so they can go on and ties in with their other beliefs like reincarnation. But if we know the Salvation plan of God, we don't need to "cleanse our soul" by burning the body, which won't do it, anyway. So it came out of pagan beliefs, and by modern people doing this, they're in a way honoring those beliefs. Second, God stated to Adam, "For dust you are and to dust you will return." God didn't say, "For dust you are, and to ashes you will return." So it's at least unnatural. Also, if it was such a wonderful thing and God's will, you have to ask, why did all the patriarchs of the Old Testament get BURIED? If someone has bad financial circumstances, check with God, but saving money isn't always an acceptable answer to God, because look at in Revelation about the Antichrist—you can't buy or sell without the mark, yet what happens if you DO take the mark? "Whosoever takes the mark, the same will be tormented day and night in the presence of God and of the Holy angels." I just say, check with God about these things, but for me, I say just recognize it started as a pagan ritual. Why follow the way of the pagan?

You are not double checking with the Word of God in your statements my friend. There are some who became cremated in the Old Testament. Do you desire to be a liar? I'm not calling you a liar but why do we speak when we can be silent? If I'm silent, can anyone call me a liar?

Absent from the body... present with the Lord. That is a wonderful statement that I love so much. Give your body to science so you will not spend any money on burials, burnings or anything else. Make sure when you write your will tell all your relatives who will dispose of your remains to use that money of flowers and funeral homes and all that expense to be used to build seven churches all for the glory of God the Father along with seven Christian Schools where children will attend and learn how much Jesus loves them. The farm will be used for Camp Meetings and Revival meetings where souls will come to know the Lord. What a wonderful legacy we shall leave when we depart planet earth not to return ever to this place again.

I think we should be guided by the Holy Spirit concerning everything. My mother wants to be cremated, she said, it takes less place, it costs less, etc. I don't like it, it doesn't seem natural to me. Call me conservative if you like. But the first time she said that to me, it came to me these Hindu traditions, and I didn't like it. I think it's totally appropriate to burn bodies if there is some kind of plague, but I am not for the cremation of my loved ones.

So you get cremated. Me, I'll stay away from things with pagan origins. There are also backslidden Christians who had adulterous affairs. Just because someone "chooses" something doesn't make it right.

Finally, someone who agrees with me. Some of the others seem to disagree.

I plan on getting cremated and I am a Christian. It's not just a money issue. Why should my useless corporeal, dead body take up a space where children could be playing?
Not only that think about the chemicals they use (formaldehyde) in a regular funeral seeping into our water supply.
