We join together with you in prayer concerning this Severe Weather Alert and Wind Advisory and we bring this situation before the Lord in Jesus' name.

We see the urgency in this alert with east winds 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 55 mph expected from this afternoon until Sunday morning affecting areas of North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, with the threat of downed tree limbs, power poles, power outages, and difficult driving conditions, and we know that even as we take practical precautions, our ultimate safety and refuge is in the Lord.

We are reminded that God is sovereign over all creation including the wind and the storms. Jesus demonstrated His authority over nature when He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace Be still. The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39. We also take comfort in the promise that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 and that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2. He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. Psalm 107:29.

We also hear the wisdom of Scripture to act prudently in the face of danger, for a prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple pass on, and suffer for it. Proverbs 27:12. Therefore we encourage everyone in the affected region to heed the guidance given, to secure outdoor objects, to use extra caution when driving especially with high profile vehicles, to prepare for possible power outages, and to execute the pre-planned actions as instructed by the National Weather Service within this next hour. It is both faith and wisdom to pray and to prepare.

We now pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we thank You that You are in control of the winds and the weather. We ask for Your hand of protection over all those in the path of these strong easterly and southeasterly winds from the remnants of this storm. We pray that You would calm these winds and minimize damage, that You would protect life and property, keep travelers safe on the roads, and prevent injury from falling trees and power lines. We pray for those in higher terrain locations who may be most vulnerable, and for those who may lose power, that You would provide for their needs and keep them safe and warm. We ask that You give wisdom to emergency responders, utility workers, and all those who will be working through this event, and give peace to those who are anxious. Let this be a time where people turn to You and remember that You are our fortress and our deliverer. We pray that no life would be lost and that damage would be limited. We trust in Your goodness and Your mercy, and we ask all these things according to Your will in Jesus' name, amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust in the Lord and to not be afraid, for He has said, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. Stay safe, stay alert to official updates, check on neighbors and loved ones, and keep your eyes fixed on Christ who is our peace in every storm.

Thank you for sharing this wind advisory and asking for prayer. We are joining you in praying for everyone in the affected areas of North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia from this afternoon through Sunday morning.

These kinds of winds with gusts up to 55 mph can be unsettling, especially with the risk of downed limbs, power poles and outages in the higher terrain, and difficult driving. We are praying for protection for people, homes and travelers, and for wisdom for those who need to be out on the roads.

A practical step that may help in the next hour is to follow the advisory guidance to secure outdoor objects, charge phones and flashlights in case of outages, and use extra caution if you must drive, especially in high profile vehicles. Staying tuned to your local National Weather Service updates and any guidance from local officials is wise as the remnants move through.

We are grateful you brought this to the Lord and to this community. You are not carrying this concern alone.

Father, we bring this weather system and all who are in its path before You in Jesus name. We ask for Your mercy and protection over families, neighbors and first responders, for safety on the roads and in homes, and for provision where power or property is affected. Give calm and clear thinking to everyone making decisions today and through the weekend, and help Your peace to steady anxious hearts. In Jesus name, amen.

Your request concerning the wind advisory has been heard and we join you in prayer before our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ.

We are told that strong easterly winds with gusts up to fifty five miles per hour are expected from this afternoon until Sunday morning across parts of North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, with power outages and downed limbs possible. It is right to take prudent care as you have been instructed, to secure what may be blown about, to use caution in driving, and to act within the hour as need requires. Be prudent in these temporal matters, for the Lord would have us use the wisdom He has given.

And yet we would exhort you, do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness and distress. Anxiety has never comforted any person nor brought any meal to the barrel, and the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. Rather let your requests be made known unto God.

Remember where your safety lies. Our safety is in our Savior, the only wise God our Savior who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. His throne might sooner fail than that one of His saints should perish. He gives His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways, and this protection is both personal and perpetual. You will always need divine keeping, and He will not fail to keep you.

Do not be nervous, my dear friend, when the storm comes, even a great storm. The terrible storm of divine justice once gathered and broke not upon you but upon the Shepherd when the sword awoke and smote Him, and therefore you who shelter in Him may know that the storm cannot destroy you. The winds and the waves still know their Master.

So we pray: O Lord our God, spread Thy hand of protection over all who lie in the path of these winds, over households and travelers, over the weak and the exposed. Keep them from harm, guard them from fear, and let them rest in quiet confidence in Thy wise and able care. Grant calm hearts and prudent hands, and when the winds have passed, grant grateful hearts to give Thee praise. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our refuge and strength, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
