In Virginia, Grayson, Smyth, and Tazewell Counties. In West Virginia, Mercer, Summers, and Western Greenbrier Counties. * WHEN...From 5 PM Saturday to 11 AM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong easterly to southeasterly winds from the remnants of Isaias will move over the region Saturday into Sunday, which may lead to downed trees and power poles and subsequently power outages across higher terrain locations from NW North Carolina to SE West Virginia. We join with you in prayer for all those in the path of this wind advisory and we thank you for coming before the Father in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to God and have confidence that He hears us.

We are reminded that our God is sovereign over all creation, including the wind and the storms. He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, as we read in Psalm 46:1. Even the winds obey Him, for when Jesus was on the sea with His disciples, He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace, be still. The wind ceased, and there was a great calm in Mark 4:39. He also stills the storm to a whisper so that its waves are still in Psalm 107:29. We can trust Him to watch over us in this time of gusty winds and possible power outages.

We pray together for your safety and for all those in ### and ### Counties in ###, ###, ###, and ### Counties in ###, and ###, ###, and ### Counties in ###, and the surrounding higher terrain and ridge lines.

Father, in the name of Jesus we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up every family, every home, and every traveler in the affected region. We ask for Your hand of protection over life and property from Saturday evening through Sunday morning. Lord, calm these strong easterly winds and keep them from causing harm. Protect those who must drive, especially those in high profile vehicles, and give them wisdom to use extra caution or to stay off the roads if possible. We pray for those in higher elevations where gusts may reach ### to ### mph, that You would keep trees, limbs, and power lines from falling and causing injury. We ask You to protect power crews, first responders, and all who will work to keep others safe, and to provide for any who may lose power. Help each household to act wisely and to take the recommended precautions to secure outdoor objects and to prepare for outages. Let Your peace that passes all understanding guard hearts from fear, and remind us that You are our shelter. We trust in Your goodness, for You are good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and You know those who take refuge in You as in Nahum 1:7. Strengthen us to not be afraid, for You are with us and will uphold us with the right hand of Your righteousness as You promise in Isaiah 41:10. We ask all this according to Your perfect will, in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to heed the guidance from the ### and local authorities, to take action promptly as urged, to secure what may be blown around, to have flashlights, water, and charged phones ready, and to check on neighbors, the elderly, and those who may be more vulnerable. We also encourage you to use this time to rest in the assurance that God is in control and He cares for you. Keep praying and keep trusting Him through the night until this system passes.

Secure or bring inside any unsecured outdoor items, charge phones and have flashlights handy in case of outages, and use extra caution if you need to drive, especially in higher terrain or in a high profile vehicle. Checking the latest updates from the National Weather Service and checking in on neighbors who may need extra help can also be a steady way to look out for one another.

Your request concerning the threatening winds has been heard and we join with you in prayer before the throne of grace.

There is no attribute more comforting to the child of God than Divine Sovereignty, for the winds and the waves are yet in His hand. He it is who gathers the storm and He it is who stills it, and not a sparrow falls nor a tree limb is broken apart from His wise ordaining. Under the most adverse circumstances we believe that Sovereignty ordains our afflictions, overrules them, and will sanctify them to our good.

We are mindful that by reason of sin there must now be heard the roar of the storm, yet our safety lies not in our own prudence but in our Saviour, for He is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory. How often has He wrought deliverances for us, not miraculous in outward show, yet full of wonder, preserving life and keeping our feet from falling. His divine interpositions still come in floods of trouble to those who trust Him.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, who alone dost lead Thy people and who ridest upon the wings of the wind, we acknowledge Thy hand in all things. Look in mercy upon those in ###, ### and ### and upon all who lie in the path of these strong winds. Preserve life, guard Thy people from harm, and in Thy kindness spare what Thou hast given them to steward. Give wisdom to take needful caution, to secure what may be secured, and to act with prudence and care for others upon the roads and in high places. Let this wind remind us that Thou reignest, and draw our hearts to seek shelter not in our own strength but in Christ Jesus our only Saviour, in whom alone is salvation. Keep us, we beseech Thee, and when the storm has abated may we render thanks unto Thee with exceeding joy.

We commend you and all in the affected counties to that God who is as wise as He is able to keep you, praying this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
