We need hot water in my house

Kensem

Beloved of All
My apartment building has no hot water because they're repairing the heating system. They promised it would be fixed on last Tuesday, but they didn't finish. Please pray everything will be finished by tomorrow. It is impossible to shower in ice cold water…

Please pray for a mighty solution … if I have to move, please pray that God provides an alternative home
Apparently, they say that there won't be heating from 15th October because they couldn't agree on the repair costs, and no one wants to do the job.

I also have mild flu

Update
Thank God the owners agreed on the repair costs — He heard our prayers! Work has begun today, and we have been promised that we will have hot water by tomorrow.

Update: it’s a broken promise again. We don’t have hot water today

We have heard your request and we have been lifting you up together before the Father, and we rejoice with you that God moved the hearts of the owners to agree on the repair costs and that work has begun. That is an answer to prayer and evidence that He hears us. We also share your disappointment that the promise for hot water today was broken again, and we understand how difficult it is to endure ice cold water especially while you are suffering with mild flu and facing uncertainty about heating after the 15th of October.

We want to remind you that even when people break their promises, God remains faithful. God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent Numbers 23:19. People may fail us, but God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. We know this waiting and discomfort can be wearisome, and we pray that God will give you patience and peace as you wait. We are told in Romans 12:12 to rejoice in hope, endure in oppression, and be steadfast in prayer, and in Philippians 4:6-7 that in nothing we should be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, we should let our requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and our thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We also notice that you thanked God, which we are grateful for, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. We want to gently share with you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and can come boldly to God in prayer. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation and for every need.

We join together now and pray for you in Jesus name.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we thank You that You have heard our prayers and moved the owners to agree. We ask You to continue this good work and to bring it to swift completion. We pray that You would guide the hands of the workers, remove every obstacle and delay, and provide hot water and heating in this building by tomorrow if it is Your will, and certainly provide a mighty solution for heating before winter comes. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. If it is Your will that our friend should remain there, we ask You to make that home habitable and warm. If You are leading to an alternative home, we pray that You will open that door clearly and provide a place that is affordable, safe, and warm, for we know You care about every detail of our lives.

We also lift up this mild flu to You, Lord. We ask for Your healing touch, that You would restore health and strength quickly and protect from further illness while having to endure the cold. We pray the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up James 5:15. Strengthen this dear one, do not let fear or discouragement take hold, for You have said, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.

We pray for peace in the midst of broken promises and uncertainty, and we trust that You are working all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. Help our friend to cast all worries on You, because You care for us 1 Peter 5:7, and to rest in Your perfect timing and provision. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily, to keep bringing this matter before Him with thanksgiving, and to take practical steps as you are able, such as communicating kindly but firmly with the building management, documenting the delays, and caring for your health by keeping warm and seeking temporary ways to stay well while the repairs continue. We are trusting with you that God, who has already begun to answer, will complete what He has started and will provide exactly what you need.

We hear how wearying this back and forth has been for you. To be told hot water would be back Tuesday, then tomorrow, then tomorrow again, and to keep facing ice cold showers is discouraging, and the thought of facing winter without heat and possibly having to move only adds to the strain. We are sorry you are also dealing with flu on top of it.

Thank you for letting us know the owners did finally agree on the costs and that work has started. We understand how hard it was to get that hopeful news and then be disappointed again today. That kind of repeated delay can leave anyone feeling on edge and tired of waiting.

It may help to ask the building manager for a brief written update with the next expected date and what work remains, so you have something clear to refer to if you need to ask again. In the meantime if the cold water makes showering difficult, a trusted neighbor, family member, or local community facility might offer a temporary place to wash while you wait. If your flu lingers or worsens, please consider checking in with your clinician alongside prayer.

We are continuing to pray for you in this unsettled time.

Father, we bring this need for hot water and reliable heat before You. You see the frustration and the cold and the uncertainty about housing. Please provide what is needed, give wisdom to those doing the repairs, and grant rest and healing from this flu. Give peace and clear guidance about next steps. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your affliction, though it may seem small to others, is felt daily in your own body and home, and the Lord does not despise it. To be without hot water, to face the cold in showering, to bear a sickness even though mild, and to hear promises made and then broken again, is a wearying trial. And when you are told that from the middle of October there may be no heating at all, the heart is tempted to be anxious about whether to remain or to seek another dwelling.

You have tasted both the encouragement of an answer begun and the disappointment of waiting prolonged. The owners agreed, work began, and you rightly gave thanks that He heard prayer. Then the promise failed again. This is the very place of waiting of which the Scripture speaks.

Therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious unto you. There is a waiting God and there is a waiting people. He is not unwilling to help you. The unwillingness is never in Him. He waits to be gracious, and when His time of love comes there is a final success to all His waiting. His people, on their part, are not waiting in despair, nor even in hesitation, they are waiting in hope, a joyous and assured hope of blessedness in reserve.

To wait upon God is more than to wait for hot water to return. It is to wait as a servant waits upon his lord, anxious to know what his master wishes him to do, and happy to undertake it. It is to wait as a traveler waits upon his guide, and as a mariner waits upon the pilot who takes charge of his ship. In the entire voyage of life, even in such matters as a home and bodily health, He is at the helm and His hand is to steer our course.

This waiting, though it tries patience, is the way to renew strength. By waiting upon God we receive a mysterious strength through the incoming of His Spirit into our souls, our minds are steadied, the world and all its affairs are seen in their real littleness, and peace is bred within the soul. When a man is at rest within, he cares little for trials without, though the water be cold and the promise delayed. Faith stands and knocks at Mercy's door and waits for a reply. Merely to knock without waiting is like a runaway knock in the street. But true faith waits and watches and waits and watches again, confident that what is asked according to His will is already laid up in the treasury and will be given when it may be safely received.

We will pray with you and for you.

We ask our gracious Father in the name of Jesus Christ that He would grant you healing from this flu and restore your strength, that He would move those responsible to complete the repair faithfully and quickly, and that He would provide hot water and needful heat for your dwelling. If it is His will that you remain there, we pray He would establish you in peace. If you must move, we pray He would in His providence open a suitable home, within your means, where you may dwell in quietness and safety. Give you wisdom to know which step to take, and keep you from hasty fear on the one hand and from needless endurance on the other.

Continue to bring this matter before Him. Cast even this care upon Him, for He cares for you. He who numbers the hairs of your head knows the cold you feel and the weariness of broken promises. May He keep you in perfect peace as you wait upon Him, and may you find that while you wait, He is waiting to be gracious.
