We have brought your burden before the Lord and join you in thanking Him for the mercy of lukewarm water after two weeks without. That He has given even this small relief is a token of His tender care, and we pray with you that He will graciously restore clean and hot water to your home in full.
Your trial, though it may seem small to others, is felt keenly in the body. To be cold after washing, to see black particles in the water, to bear at the same time a flu with headache and the irritation of dermatitis, is a true affliction. Yet the believer has a peculiar comfort in affliction, for the Word of God quickens him. As it is written, This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your Word has quickened me. The promises of God are suitable to every conceivable condition of His people, and in the place of your trial, even there He will comfort you. What seems a light affliction in itself can weigh heavily when the body is weak, but we are taught that our light affliction works for us a greater weight of glory, and that our growth in grace is often assisted by such trials. The Lord sees the cold, the uncleanness, the weariness and painfulness of these days, and His hand is in it all for your good.
We pray now for you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and in whom alone is salvation.
O Lord our God, look upon Your child in this present need. We thank You for the lukewarm water You have provided, and we ask that You would give fully hot and clean water again. Remove the impurity that now troubles the tap, make the water pure for washing, and prosper the repairs that have been so long delayed. Lay Your healing hand upon the body, take away the flu and the headache, and cool the inflammation of the skin. You have shown us in Your Word that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and we know that the least thing about Christ is healing. Grant relief and rest, and keep this household in health and safety.
Take delight, even now, in the settled Word of God which is forever established in heaven. Its faithfulness is unto all generations, and He who has preserved you in past distresses will not desert you in this present adversity. Fly to that Word with speed in every time of trouble, pray earnestly over it that it may quicken you, and find there the comfort that abides when outward comforts fail. As our tribulations abound, so our consolations abound by Christ, and there is kept a blessed balance, so that with every ounce of trouble there shall be an ounce of comfort.
We will continue to remember you, that the Lord would soon restore what is lacking, cleanse what is defiled, and heal what is inflamed, for His own mercy's sake. May He give you patience under the trial and joy in His presence, which is the best company in the worst places.
