Warning Dreams form Holy Spirit While Sleeping, Job 33:12-17; Matt 2:12, Prophecy, Joel 2:28, Numb 12:6, Acts 16:9 Father, we come as little children in faith, contrary to all we see and hear, and thank You, "You are able to save forever those who come to God through Jesus, because He lives to make intercession for us," Heb 7:25, c.f. Rom 8:34.

We ask, with this husband for his wife, You give her a warning dream, as it is written in Job 33:14, "For God does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it. 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people, as they slumber in their beds, 16 He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, 17 to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, 18 to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword." Again, as with the affairs concerning our father, Abraham, Gen 20:3, like him we are fully persuaded You are able to fulfill what You promise, Rom 4:21. Pour out Your Holy Spirit on her, as prophesied in in Joel 2:28, “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old will dream dreams, your youth will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days," Joel 2:28-29, c.f. Acts 2:17-18. Father, with humble confidence, give her, them, us dreams and visions underlining your will for us in Christ Jesus, as You have done from ancient times on those saved Matt 1:20, Matt 2:12, and unsaved alike, Gen 20:3, Gen 31:24, Dan 2:1, Dan 4:5, until present, Acts 19:6, and You will continue to though the future, Heb 13:8. Your arm is not too short, Num 11:23, especially to save, Isa 50:2, Isa 59:1.

Again, as little children, "we know You can do all things,"Job 42:2, That "nothing shall be impossible with God," Luke 1:27, "The things impossible with man are possible with God," Mark 10:27. Keep her, him, and us from temptation, sin, evil, wrongdoing, lies, fear, evil people, deception, and the evil one, Lk 11:4, 1 Cor 8:1, Zeph 3:13, 2 Cor 13:7, 2 Cor 11:6, 2 Tim 3:5, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, 2 Thes 3:2, Matt 24:4, Rev 12:9, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thes 3:3. We join with you as little children in faith and we thank our Father that you have come boldly through Jesus Christ who lives to make intercession for us. We rejoice that you know it is only through Him that we have access to God, for as it is written in Heb 7:25 He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them, and in Rom 8:34 Christ Jesus is He who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

We agree with you concerning the power and faithfulness of our God to speak and to warn and to preserve His people. We affirm with you that God does indeed speak in dreams and visions, as the Scriptures you have cited so beautifully declare. In Job 33:14 God speaks once, yes twice, though man does not perceive it. Job 33:15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed Job 33:16 then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction Job 33:17 that He may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. We remember also Num 12:6 where the Lord said, If there is a prophet among you, I Yahweh will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream. And we remember how in Matt 2:12 being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, the wise men withdrew to their own country another way, and in Matt 1:20 an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. We hold fast to Joel 2:28 It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions, which was fulfilled as in Acts 2:17, and we remember Acts 16:9 where a vision appeared to Paul in the night.

At the same time we gently encourage you with the whole counsel of Scripture, that while God is able to do all things and nothing is impossible with Him as in Job 42:2, Luke 1:37 and Mark 10:27, and His arm is not too short to save as in Num 11:23 and Isa 59:1, His written Word remains our sure foundation and final authority. In Heb 1:1 God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, Heb 1:2 has at the end of these days spoken to us by His Son. And in 2 Tim 3:16 Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. Therefore we do not seek dreams above the Word, but we test all things. As it is written in 1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, and in 1 Thess 5:21 Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. Any dream or vision that is truly from the Holy Spirit will never contradict Scripture, will exalt Christ, and will bear the fruit of turning us from wrongdoing and keeping us from pride, to preserve us from the pit as in Job 33:18.

We also affirm your marriage before the Lord, this husband praying for his wife, and we thank God for a union that seeks His will together in Christ Jesus. We pray that your courtship and marriage continues to honor Him in purity and faithfulness.

We pray together now for you both and for us all.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace with humble confidence. We thank You that You are able to do all things and that You care for Your children even as we slumber. We ask according to Your will, if it pleases You, to speak to this dear wife and to this husband and to us in the night watches, to open our ears and seal instruction upon our hearts, to warn us and turn us from wrongdoing, from pride, from temptation, from sin and from the schemes of the evil one. Pour out Your Spirit upon us and grant us dreams and visions that underline Your will for us in Christ Jesus, if it serves Your glory and our good. Grant us wisdom as in James 1:5 to discern what is from You and what is not, that we would not be led astray by fear or deception or vain imaginations. Keep us from evil people and from the evil one, as You have promised in John 17:15 and 2 Thess 3:3. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one as in Matt 6:13. Guide us into all truth by Your Holy Spirit as in John 16:13, that we would walk in obedience to Your Word and not lean on our own understanding. Preserve this wife, this husband, and all of us from the pit and from perishing, and keep our lives hidden in Christ. We thank You in advance, believing that You hear us when we ask according to Your will as in 1 John 5:14 and Mark 11:24, and that without faith it is impossible to please You as in Heb 11:6, but You reward those who diligently seek You. We trust Your unfailing love and Your power to save forever those who come to God through Jesus. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We hear how deeply you love your wife and how much you want God's protection and guidance over her. That childlike trust you expressed, that God is able to keep and to lead those who come to Him through Jesus, is a beautiful place to pray from, and we join you in it.

We also hear your longing for God to speak to her so clearly she cannot miss it. We believe the Holy Spirit is our Helper and Counselor who does guide, convict, and comfort, and He does it in a balanced way through His power, through truth that never contradicts His Word, and through fruit that brings love and peace even when He corrects. Sometimes that guidance is quiet and inner, sometimes it comes through Scripture, prayer, or the counsel of others, and we can trust Him to choose the way and the timing that is truly best.

As you keep praying, it helps to keep the conversation open with your wife too in gentle, honest love. Sharing your concerns directly, without pressure, and staying rooted together in Scripture and prayer gives the Spirit room to work in both of your hearts day by day. If you have a trusted pastor, inviting him to walk with you both can also bring wisdom and steadiness.

Father, we thank You that You hear this husband's prayer for his wife. We ask You to draw them both closer to Jesus, guard them from evil and deception, and lead them into Your will with clarity and peace. Give them humble, teachable hearts and help them to hear Your voice and follow You faithfully. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your earnest prayer has been heard and we join you in thanking God that He is able to save to the uttermost those who come unto God by Jesus, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for us. What a mercy that our hope rests not in dreams or visions but in the living Christ who pleads for His own at the right hand of the Father.

You have rightly remembered that God has spoken in dreams in time past, as in Job when He opens the ears of men and seals their instruction that He may withdraw man from his purpose and hide pride from man, and as He warned Joseph and the wise men. Yet remember also that the chief and blessed work of the Holy Spirit now is to glorify Christ, to take of the things of Christ and show them unto us, and to work by the Word of God for our conviction, conversion, consolation and sanctification. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, and it is by the gospel of Jesus Christ that the Spirit works in the hearts of men. We are to test all that claims to be of the Spirit by whether it honors the Lord Jesus and leads to holiness, for the Spirit lusts against the flesh and will drive out sin and present us blameless before the throne.

Therefore we exhort you to pray in the Holy Spirit and by the Holy Spirit, in His power and under His guidance, with a humble and contrite heart. Grieve not the Holy Spirit who has condescended to make your heart His abode. Search out the sin that would vex Him, slay it upon the spot, repent with tears, and live in the Spirit and give yourselves up fully to His divine anointing. A holy life is the workmanship of the Holy Spirit, and where He dwells there will be joy and peace and love and confidence toward God.

We will pray for you, for this husband and for his wife, that the Lord in His sovereign mercy would keep you all from temptation and from the evil one, from deception and from every false way, and preserve you from the pit. If it please Him to speak in the night season to turn the soul from wrongdoing, we shall praise Him, for His arm is not shortened that it cannot save. And if He rather speaks by His Word applied with power to the conscience, we shall praise Him still, for that is His ordinary and sure way. Above all we ask that He would show Christ to you afresh, His person, His blood which cleanses from all sin, His grace which delivers from the dominion of sin, that you may see Him and be kept in His way.

He who has promised is able to perform it, and nothing shall be impossible with God. Continue in prayer, continue in the Word, continue in dependence upon the Holy Spirit who dwells with you and shall be in you, and rest upon the faithful High Priest who lives to intercede. May the Lord keep you watching and praying, holy and humble, till He brings you into His glory. Amen.
