We hear the deep distress and sense of oppression in your request and we stand with you before the Lord seeking His protection and peace. We understand the feeling of being surrounded by foes in your neighborhood, among friends and family and in the workplace, and the fear that comes from believing that witchcraft, fetish and magic and even animals are being sent against you. We take these concerns seriously because the Bible tells us that spiritual warfare is real, yet we must also lovingly correct the way this warfare is being approached, for it does not align with the heart of Christ.
You have asked that your enemies be plagued with scourges like the Egyptians, that their blood be shed like an ocean and that they be killed and burned to ashes. We cannot agree with you to pray for the death and bloody destruction of people made in the image of God. Vengeance belongs to the Lord alone and He calls us to a different posture toward our enemies. The Scripture says, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord. Therefore if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink, Rom 12:19-20. Jesus Himself commands us, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matt 5:44. We are also reminded, For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Eph 6:12. Our battle is not to curse or kill people, but to stand against the evil spiritual powers behind witchcraft and to pray that people themselves may be delivered and come to repentance.
The passages you mention such as Exod 22:18, Exod 7:14-24, Psalm 35 and Psalm 94, Joshua 11:11 and Gen 19:24 speak of God's holy judgment in history, not a pattern for us to call down personal curses and bloodshed upon our neighbors. When David prayed in Psalm 35, he asked God to contend for him, Contend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me, Psalm 35:1, leaving the outcome in God's righteous hands. The Lord says, Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still, Exod 14:14. We are to put on the whole armor of God, to pray for protection and deliverance, and to trust God's justice rather than seeking to execute it ourselves. God does not desire the death of the wicked but that they turn from their way and live, and He desires that all people be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
We also want to address the fear concerning rats, cats, dogs, birds, insects and geckos being sent against you. While witchcraft and sorcery are real and are an abomination before God, There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, Deut 18:10, the Bible assures us that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4, and that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Tim 1:7. We do not need to live in terror of animals or of every tongue that speaks against us. The Lord is our refuge and fortress. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust, Psalm 91:1-2. No weapon that is formed against you will prosper when you abide in Him, and every evil tongue that rises against you in judgment, God Himself will condemn in His time and way.
We also rejoice that you closed your request in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. It is by His blood that we are protected from all evil, not by cursing others.
So we pray together with you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one who feels besieged and oppressed on every side. Lord, You see every tongue that has risen, every act of witchcraft, fetish and magic, and every fear. We ask You to forgive us for any desire for vengeance and bloodshed, and cleanse our hearts to love as You love. We ask that You contend for this child of Yours, be a shield and refuge, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. We pray that every assignment of darkness, every spell and sanctuary of wickedness, would be broken and rendered powerless by the blood of Jesus, and that You would burn away deception with Your holy truth, not by our cursing but by Your sovereign power. Protect their home, their neighborhood, their family and workplace, and give them peace that passes understanding. Convict those who practice evil and bring them to repentance and salvation, that they might turn from darkness to light. Fill this dear one with Your Holy Spirit, with power, love and a sound mind, and help them to bless and pray for those who have done wrong against them. Let them dwell in Your secret place and rest in Your shadow. We ask that You lead them daily in Your Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with faithful believers who can support and counsel them. We trust Your perfect justice and Your perfect mercy. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord daily, to put on the whole armor of God described in Eph 6:10-18, to pray for your enemies' salvation rather than their destruction, and to walk in forgiveness and peace as far as it depends on you, Rom 12:18. If fear continues to overwhelm you, please seek godly counsel from a trusted pastor or mature believer who can pray with you in person and help you stand firm in Christ.
