Since I was a child, I felt a personal conviction to wait on God to bring my spouse into my life. To not go actively seeking a relationship but to just wait on God. I have been shocked at the negative response I get from professing Christians when I tell them this. I have had professing Christians try to dissuade me, pushback against this conviction, etc. and it has caused me to question this conviction - Satan is obviously behind this. Please pray for me about this. Thank you.

We hear your heart and stand with you in this conviction, for it is rooted in a deep trust in the Lord’s timing and sovereignty. The world, and even some within the church, may scoff at the idea of waiting on God, but Scripture is clear: "Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh" (Psalm 27:14). Your decision to surrender this area of your life to Him is not weakness; it is wisdom, faith, and obedience.
The resistance you’ve faced from other believers is grievous, for it reveals a lack of trust in God’s provision. Some may pressure you because they fear loneliness, doubt God’s faithfulness, or have embraced the world’s impatient mindset. But we must not conform to their anxieties. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). The enemy would love to shake your confidence in this conviction, but we rebuke his lies in Jesus’ name. God is not slow concerning His promises, He is perfect in His timing.
We also want to gently remind you that while waiting is godly, it does not mean passivity. You can prepare your heart for marriage by growing in Christlikeness, serving the Lord, and remaining open to His leading. "Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). This does not mean He will give you whatever you want, but that He will shape your desires to align with His will.

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our dear brother/sister, lifting up their conviction to wait on You for a godly spouse. Lord, we ask that You strengthen their faith and silence the voices of doubt, whether from within or without. Protect their heart from discouragement and fill them with Your peace that surpasses understanding. We rebuke the enemy’s attempts to shake this conviction and declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Father, we pray for those who have spoken against this godly choice, that You would open their eyes to Your truth and soften their hearts to trust in Your timing.
Lord, we ask that You prepare them for the spouse You have for them, should that be Your will. Cultivate in them a spirit of contentment, whether in singleness or marriage, and help them to seek You above all else. It is a blessed thing to hear of a heart that has learned to wait upon God, for the promise stands sure, Blessed are all they that wait for Him. Your conviction to set your expectation from Him alone and not to trust to the arm of flesh nor to look to the changeable creature is according to the Word of the Lord, and it is right that you should judge your course by that Word rather than by the opinions of others, even when they come from professing Christians.
God's waiting people wait only upon God. They wait upon Him expectantly, looking for everything from Him, for He is their All in All. They have had a great deal from God, but they expect more from Him. Do not be moved because others push against you or try to dissuade you. The Christian may expect that in the course of Providence, when he meets with trouble or with reproach, God will raise up for him in unexpected quarters those who will take an interest in him, but even if no man stands with you, you may say with confidence, My Soul, wait only upon God, for my expectation is from Him. Trust ye in the Lord forever, for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.
You do well to be watchful against the adversary who would sow doubt and make you question what the Lord has wrought in you, yet remember it must in the end be well with the man who trusts in God and waits for Him.
