We hear the deep ache in your heart and the wrestling of your spirit, and we come before the Lord with you in this moment. Your willingness to wait on God’s timing for a spouse is a beautiful act of faith, and we want to affirm that conviction as something precious in His sight. The Bible tells us, "Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh" (Psalm 27:14). Yet we also recognize that the weight of loneliness and the questions you’re facing are very real, and we do not take them lightly.
First, we must address the foundation of your faith. If you have not already, we encourage you to examine your relationship with Jesus Christ, for He alone is the source of true fulfillment and healing. The Bible declares, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). It is only through Him that we find access to the Father and the fullness of life He offers. If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so, for He is the only one who can satisfy the longings of your soul. If you have already placed your trust in Him, we pray that you would draw nearer to Him in this season, allowing His presence to fill the emptiness you feel.
Your realization that no human relationship can fully heal the loneliness that seems to come from within is a profound one. This is not a failure on your part but an invitation from God to seek Him first. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). The void you feel is not meant to be filled by another person but by the Lord Himself. We pray that you would experience His nearness in a tangible way, that you would know His love as the balm for your soul.
We also want to gently address the emotional and mental struggles you mentioned. The Bible does not shy away from the reality of human frailty, and neither should we. "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit" (Psalm 34:18). It is not a sign of weakness to acknowledge that you may need help, whether through prayer, godly counsel, or professional support. We encourage you to seek out a trusted pastor, Christian counselor, or mentor who can walk with you through any trauma or mental health challenges. The Lord often uses His people as vessels of healing, and there is no shame in reaching out.
As for your questions about marriage, we want to affirm that it is a sacred and beautiful institution ordained by God. "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh" (Proverbs 18:22). However, marriage is not a cure for loneliness or brokenness, it is a covenant that requires two whole individuals coming together in Christ. If the Lord has placed a desire for marriage in your heart, we believe He will fulfill it in His perfect timing. But if He is calling you to a season of singleness for your growth and His glory, we pray that you would embrace that as well, trusting that His plans for you are good.
We also want to gently rebuke any lies the enemy may be whispering to you, that your conviction to wait was not from God, that you are unworthy of love, or that your loneliness is a punishment. These are not truths from the Lord. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you," says Yahweh, "thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). The enemy seeks to distort God’s voice and discourage you, but we stand with you in declaring that God’s Word is true, and His promises are sure.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother/sister to You. Lord, You see the depths of their loneliness, the questions in their spirit, and the weariness in their soul. We ask that You would draw near to them in this season, that they would feel Your presence like never before. Fill the void in their heart with Your love, and let them know that You are enough.
Father, we pray for healing, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Where there is trauma, bring restoration. Where there is doubt, bring clarity. Where there is fear, bring peace. We ask that You would surround them with godly community, with people who will speak life into them and point them to You. If there is a need for professional help, provide it, Lord, and give them the courage to seek it.
We also pray for Your will concerning marriage. If it is Your plan for them to be united with a spouse, prepare them both and bring them together in Your perfect timing. If You are calling them to a season of singleness, help them to embrace it with joy, knowing that You are their ultimate fulfillment. Guard their heart from the lies of the enemy, and let them walk in the truth of Your Word.
Lord, we ask that You would strengthen their faith. Remind them that the conviction they felt to wait on You was from You, and that Your promises never fail. Give them the courage to trust You even when the path is unclear. May they find their rest in You alone, and may Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who heals, restores, and saves. Amen.
In this season, we encourage you to cling to the Lord with everything you have. Spend time in His Word, pour out your heart to Him in prayer, and seek fellowship with other believers who can encourage you. You are not alone, and the God who formed you in your mother’s womb has not forgotten you. "Those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). Hold fast to this promise, and trust that He is working all things together for your good.
