Violent body shaking

Disciple of Prayer
Saved but need deliverance from pornography the worst kind since was around ### years old. Im ### now. Body violently jerks and twists when i pray, similar to the lady who posted here before. I want to be free. My name is ###. Please pray for me.

We hear your cry for deliverance, and we stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and set free. The bondage of pornography is a heavy chain, but we declare that Jesus came to break every chain and set the captives free. You are not alone in this struggle, and we believe that God has heard your prayer and is already moving on your behalf.

First, we must address the spiritual warfare you are experiencing. The violent shaking and twisting when you pray is not of God, it is a tactic of the enemy to intimidate and discourage you. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:12, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." The enemy wants to keep you in bondage, but we rebuke every spirit of addiction, perversion, and torment in the name of Jesus. We command them to flee and never return.

Your struggle with pornography since childhood is not just a personal failing, it is a spiritual attack that has taken root over time. But we serve a God who is greater than any addiction. 1 John 4:4 says, "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world." You are not defined by this sin, but by the blood of Jesus that washes you clean. We encourage you to confess this sin openly and seek accountability with a trusted brother in Christ. James 5:16 tells us, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."

Now, let us pray for your deliverance:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. We lift up to You, Lord, and ask for Your mercy and grace to surround him. We declare that the blood of Jesus has power over every sin, every addiction, and every spirit of bondage. We rebuke the spirit of pornography and perversion that has taken hold of , and we command it to leave in the name of Jesus. We break every generational curse and every ungodly soul tie that has been formed through this sin. Lord, we ask that You fill with Your Holy Spirit and renew his mind with Your truth. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the courage to walk in purity. We pray for complete healing in his body, mind, and spirit. Lord, we ask that You restore the years that the locusts have eaten and replace every lie of the enemy with Your truth. We declare that is free in Jesus' name, and we thank You for the victory that is already his through Christ. Amen.

We also want to encourage you to take practical steps toward freedom. Flee from every opportunity to sin, this may mean installing accountability software on your devices, avoiding certain places or situations, and filling your mind with Scripture instead of impurity. Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things." Replace the images of sin with the Word of God, and let His truth transform your mind.

Lastly, we want to remind you that your identity is in Christ, not in your struggles. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." You are not a slave to sin, you are a child of God, called to walk in freedom. Keep pressing into Him, and do not grow weary. Galatians 6:9 says, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."

We stand with you in this battle, and we believe that God is going to bring complete deliverance and healing to your life. Keep praying, keep fighting, and keep trusting in Jesus. He is faithful, and He will complete the work He has begun in you.

, thank you for trusting us with something so personal. You’ve been carrying this a long time, and it’s clear how deeply you want to be free. We’re sitting with you in that, not from a distance.

When your body reacts so violently as you pray, it’s frightening and disorienting. We won’t pretend to know every reason behind it, but we do know that the Lord who began a good work in you is not intimidated by it. You are his. Sometimes the deepest battles flare up right when we turn toward the light, and the physical shaking may be part of that fierce inner conflict. You are not losing your mind or your faith, you are bringing your struggle honestly before God, and that takes real courage.

We want to gently encourage you to take one concrete step alongside prayer. Is there a mature, safe believer or a pastor you could sit down with in person? Having someone who knows your story and can pray with you regularly, maybe even be present when the shaking happens, can weaken the isolation that feeds addiction. Many men have found solid ground in a small, confidential group where they can be completely honest and find practical accountability, not shame, but shared strength.

As you do that, we’re praying for you now.

Lord Jesus, we lift to you. You see the years of hidden struggle, the shame, the violent shaking that comes in prayer. We ask for your steadying presence. Quiet his body with your peace. Break the chains of this addiction from the roots, and surround him with people who will fight alongside him. Give him courage to reach out, wisdom for the next right step, and a deep, settled assurance that you have not abandoned him. In your strong name, Amen.

The violence of this bondage, the body shaking and twisting as you pray, is no strange thing. This is the conflict of the spirit against the flesh, the very Spirit of God bringing you under conviction. Bondage under sin, bondage under the flesh, this is carnal bondage, yet that part of the bondage you now feel is altogether the work of the Spirit of God. He has not left you comfortable in Egypt; you sigh by reason of sore bondage, and that sighing is not in vain. The Lord brought Israel forth, but they had cried unto Him, and they did not receive the blessing without desiring it, yes, and sighing for it.

Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from its guilt. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification. You have cried from the depths, and He has heard you. The clock of mercy struck in Heaven the hour and moment of deliverance, for the time has come. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance, a sinner snatched from such dark bondage, if God had not invented it, yet He has not only invented a way but has found a ransom. If a slave were in the bitterest of bondage, yet if his master said, “I have the ransom for you,” that man must feel certain of his liberty. Sinner, do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said, “I have found a ransom.”

If we are ever set free from sin and Satan, it will be eternally true that the Lord brought us forth. Therefore, He makes their deliverance effectual and in every deed He brings them forth. But mark this: if you can sometimes go into sin, just occasionally by way of pleasure, it proves you are a stranger to the deliverance Christ gives His truly regenerated people. You shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. When He has brought you out, your former chains will be the very trophies of His grace. The shaking will cease, not because the battle is imaginary, but because the Lord has shot the arrow of deliverance and Syria is smitten. Lay hold of this: “I shall not die, but live,” and soon you will walk erect, in conscious, God-given freedom, declaring what He has done.
