Victory against the my enemies.

Your desire for a victory that lasts is understandable, and God hears that cry. Scripture shows again and again that He is able to deliver His people even when they are greatly outnumbered, and that the victory does not come from human strength or numbers but from His hand. He can put enemies to flight and give deliverance when there seems to be no way to stand.

The lasting victory you are asking for is found in Jesus Christ. On the cross, where it looked as if the enemy had won, Jesus triumphed over the spiritual powers that oppose us and made an open display of His victory. That is the victory we claim. It is not a temporary effect from a single prayer, but a life that is hidden in Him.

For that victory to remain, Scripture points to a continual walk with God rather than a one time experience. It comes as you place yourself in God's hands and trust Him for your defense. Those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty find covering and help. It comes through praise, for when God's people praised Him, He set ambushes against their enemies and gave them joy over those who opposed them. And it comes through reckoning the old nature to be dead and allowing the Holy Spirit to put to death the deeds of the flesh, so that victory is worked from the inside out. That kind of change is a process, not a moment, as God removes the inner pressure that used to control you and gives you His power to overcome anger, jealousy and other entrenched habits.

It is also important to guard your heart after God gives victory. When He grants deliverance it is easy to become confident in the flesh and to think you no longer need His help. Lasting victory requires ongoing dependence on the Lord in every area of life.

We will pray for you that God will watch over you, defend you, and turn what is meant for harm into good according to His wisdom, and that He will give you a heart that trusts, praises, and abides in Christ.

Father, we bring this need before You in the name of Jesus. We ask that You cover this person under Your wings and give true and enduring victory through the cross of Christ over sin, over the power of the enemy, and over every opposition that is not of Your will. Teach this heart to trust You, to praise You in all circumstances, and to walk daily by Your Spirit, reckoning the old life dead and living in the new life You give. Keep this life humble and dependent on You, so that victory is not a fleeting moment but a continual work of Your grace. Let Your peace and rest remain, and let Your will be done. In Jesus name, Amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf for victory against your enemies and for the effect of that victory to last forever. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer.

We have continued to lift you up before the Lord asking Him to be your defender and strength and to establish your victory in a lasting way. We have prayed that He would cover you and deliver you from every plan of the enemy, for we know that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world according to 1 John 4:4 and that the Lord is faithful and will guard you from the evil one according to 2 Thess 3:3.
