Beloved of All
Your urgent cry for justice and help has been heard, and the pain and distress behind these words are clear. Wanting what was taken to be restored, wanting truth to be known, and wanting wrongs to be made right are deep and understandable longings, and God cares about each of them.
God is a God of justice and righteousness, and He desires that justice prevail. At the same time Scripture is honest that in this world justice often stands far off. Truth can fall in the street and fairness can be hard to find, even where we most expect it, in courts and legal systems. That does not mean we should not seek what is right through lawful means, but it does mean we cannot put our ultimate hope in a courtroom outcome or be assured that any human system will give us perfect justice. Our confidence must rest in the Lord Himself.
The victory God most wants to give you is deeper than a legal verdict or a financial settlement. Through the cross Jesus triumphed over the powers of darkness and made His victory open and complete. That victory becomes yours as you abide in Him. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the victory that overcomes fear, anger, anxiety, and the desire to see another person crushed. Whatever area of the flesh has taken hold, whether it is bitterness, worry, or the longing for revenge, God has a way to give you release. That release comes not by trying harder in your own strength, but by recognizing you cannot do it yourself and turning it fully over to Jesus, reckoning the old nature to be dead and trusting His Spirit to work in you. Then you find that the pressure inside begins to lift, and that is real victory.
Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. That means trusting God before you see the answer, even praising Him before the battle is over. In Scripture, people were sent toward a battle singing praises for the victory God would give, rejoicing in their hearts before they saw the outcome. You can have that kind of victory now, a settled heart that says God is with you and for you, even while the legal process is still unfolding. God often works little by little, one area at a time, rather than all at once, and He can bring His purposes to pass with few resources as well as with many. He does not need ideal circumstances to help you.
For your situation, it is right to pray that truth would be made clear, that those who give you legal counsel would act with wisdom, honesty and diligence, and that any provision you need would be met according to God's mercy. It is also right to pray that any wrongdoing would be addressed through proper and lawful accountability. But vengeance and shaming another person are not for us to claim. Scripture leaves judgment and punishment in God's hands and in the hands of the authorities He has appointed. Asking God to force another person to his knees or to put him to shame comes from a hurt that needs healing, and God wants to heal that hurt in you and give you freedom from being ruled by it.
So pray in this way, surrendering the outcome to Him: Lord, You see this case and You know what is true. I ask that truth would come to light and that righteousness would prevail as You will. Give wisdom to those who advise and represent me, provide for my needs, and guard my heart from bitterness and fear. Give me Your victory over anger and anxiety, and help me to rest in what Jesus has already accomplished for me. Let Your will be done, and let me know Your presence and peace through it all. Help me to be more than a conqueror through Him who loves me, and to give You praise before and after the answer comes.
May you enter into that place of victory in your risen Savior, knowing that even if the earthly process is slow or imperfect, His love, His justice, and His power to set you free remain sure.
