We hear your heart in this request and we thank you for your honesty before the Lord. We join with you in seeking freedom and we bring each of these burdens before the throne of grace in Jesus' name.
We first lift up your struggle with sexual addiction and maladaptive daydreaming. We do not take this lightly, and while we understand there are reasons and wounds and histories that can make these battles so difficult, we must also speak the truth in love that sexual immorality in any form outside of marriage between a man and a woman is sin before a holy God and it must be repented of and forsaken. Scripture says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, 1 Corinthians 6:18. And also For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5. Jesus himself said that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart, Matthew 5:28. Maladaptive daydreaming often feeds this same pattern, allowing the mind to dwell in fantasy and escape rather than in truth, and we are called to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5, and to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2, thinking on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are pure, Philippians 4:8. There is no condemnation for those who come in repentance, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. We encourage you to walk in the light with trusted, mature believers for accountability, to confess and pray with one another that you may be healed, James 5:16, to cut off sources of temptation radically, and to fill your mind daily with the Word, for How can a young man keep his way pure, By keeping it according to your word, Psalm 119:9.
We also join you in praying for the African American community. We agree that God desires freedom from every false teaching and that He will raise up faithful shepherds who preach the true gospel of Christ without compromise. Jesus warned Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves, Matthew 7:15, and we know that many will have itching ears and will turn away from the truth, 2 Timothy 4:3-4. We pray that God will expose and remove wolves who lead people astray or harm them, and that He will establish teachers who rightly divide the word of truth, 2 Timothy 2:15, equipping the saints for the work of ministry, Ephesians 4:11-12, so that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, Ephesians 4:14.
We also intercede for your healing and protection from racism and hatred. We know this pain is real and deep, and we ask the Lord to be your defender and healer. God has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, Acts 17:26, and in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, for you are all one in Christ Jesus, Galatians 3:28. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, Romans 12:19, and He is close to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18. We pray that He will guard your heart from bitterness, heal every wound, and surround you with His favor as a shield, Psalm 5:12.
We bring your business before the Lord as well. We pray that He will provide for your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19, and that as you commit your deeds to Yahweh, your plans shall succeed, Proverbs 16:3. We pray not merely for funds but for wisdom to steward what He provides, to work heartily as for the Lord and not for men, Colossians 3:23, and to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, Matthew 6:33, trusting that He will add what you need.
Concerning the estranged relationships and your sense that God is now directing you to stop reaching out, we pray for discernment and peace. We are called to pursue reconciliation as far as it depends on us, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men, Romans 12:18, and to forgive even as God in Christ forgave us, Ephesians 4:32. Yet forgiveness does not always mean restored fellowship on the same terms, and there are seasons when to continue pressing may hinder what God is doing. We pray that you will obey His leading, guard your heart with all diligence, Proverbs 4:23, release these people into His hands with love and without resentment, and trust that He will work for good for those who love Him, Romans 8:28.
Father, we lift our brother before You in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to You, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. Wash him and cleanse him from sexual sin, renew his mind, break the chains of fantasy and addiction, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in purity and in the power of Galatians 5:16. Raise up godly teachers in the African American community, expose every wolf, let truth prevail and set many free, John 8:32. Heal him from the wounds of hatred, protect him from evil, provide for his business with open hands, and give him clear wisdom for these relationships, to know when to speak and when to be still. Let Your will be done in every area of his life and let him know Your nearness and Your unfailing love. We ask all this in Jesus' name, Amen.
