Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for asking for prayer. Your desire to leave worldly influences behind and to find wholeness and peace in Christ is a good and right desire, and God sees it.
Scripture shows that when God cleanses a person, He brings a real new freedom and a fresh start. In the old law a person who had been unclean had to go through a cleansing to be made clean again, and anyone who touched what was unclean needed purification. That picture points to what Jesus does for us. He alone can cleanse from sin and heal what is broken, and He has authority to command what is unclean and oppressive to go. When the evil spirits asked to leave, He simply said go, and they had to go. In the same way, you can ask Him to remove from your life the people and situations from these last months that pull you away from Him, and to set a firm boundary where it is needed. He is able to do that.
Your prayer to totally get over this past relationship is one God honors. Following Jesus is not to be built on fleeting emotion but on making Him the center of your life. There is a temptation to go part of the way with God, to stay close to the old land and not go far from it, but God calls His people to go fully with Him that they may serve Him. He invites you now to go forward and possess the spiritual life He has promised you, to walk in purity and in peace. As you turn to Him, He will help you not to live divided, but to follow Him with your whole heart.
We are praying with you for your ex and for his loved ones, that they would come to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other way to be saved. We are also praying for his cancer diagnosis. The Gospels record again and again that Jesus healed many, from the leper to the centurion's servant to Peter's mother in law to multitudes who were sick and oppressed, and we believe God is able to heal today. We ask for His compassion and His healing touch according to His perfect will, and above all for the deeper healing of salvation. We also pray that God would bring comfort and strength to all who love him in this difficult time.
For you, we pray that your faith would be made strong. When Jesus told His disciples let us pass over to the other side, His word was sure that they would pass over and not go under, even when the storm rose and they were afraid. He asked them, where is your faith, why are you fearful. You can trust His word over your fear. To the woman who had suffered so long and who reached out to Him in faith, He said daughter, your faith has made you whole, go in peace and be whole. That is our prayer for you, that you would know that touch of healing in your own heart, that you would go in peace and be made whole, and that you would be able to tell those closest to you how great things the Lord has done for you and how He has had compassion on you.
We are joining you in prayer that God will keep you from what would harm you, that He will remove what needs to be removed and put it behind you for good, that He will guard your heart and mind, and that He will fill the place left behind with His presence, His cleansing, and His lasting peace.
