Good and Faithful Servant
My mother is severely emotionally and behaviorally disturbed and several people including myself have noticed that there seems to be a demonic element to her negative behavior. She is a professing Christian but believes in some very wrong things. Please pray about this. The enemy often uses her negatively in the lives of people around her. I am concerned her situation may also be the case for others in my life as well. Please pray. Please also pray for me to be set free from sexual addiction. There are reasons why I'm struggling with this. Thank you.

We have heard your heart and we are lifting you and your mother before the throne of grace together in Jesus' name, seeking the Father's will and His deliverance.

We take seriously what you have shared about your mother. We know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. When a professing believer holds to very wrong beliefs and her behavior is consistently destructive and oppressive to those around her, we understand this can open a door to the enemy. We are told not to give place to the devil Ephesians 4:27 and that false teaching can lead to captivity. We pray that God will grant her repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and that she may recover herself out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will 2 Timothy 2:25-26. We also remember to honor our father and mother Ephesians 6:2, which does not mean we affirm sin or deception, but that we love, pray, speak truth with grace, and set healthy biblical boundaries while trusting God to work.

We also hear your honest confession about sexual addiction and we thank you for bringing this into the light. We want to lovingly but clearly say that any sexual activity outside of marriage between one man and one woman is fornication, and Scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. There are reasons and wounds that may have contributed to this struggle, and God cares about those wounds and wants to heal them, yet those reasons do not make the sin less serious. God provides the way to freedom through repentance, the power of the Holy Spirit, and renewing the mind. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We must walk by the Spirit, and we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16, and we are promised that sin will not have dominion over us, for we are not under law but under grace Romans 6:14. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by calling on the name of Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven, made new, and given power over sin and the enemy. Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one and his mother to You. Lord, You see the emotional and behavioral disturbance and the heaviness that seems to have a demonic element. We ask in Jesus' name that You would rebuke every influence of the enemy in her life, that You would break every deception and stronghold of wrong belief, and that You would shine Your light of truth into her heart. Grant her repentance and deliverance, draw her into sound doctrine and a true walk with Christ, and let her mind be renewed by Your Word. Protect those around her from harm and give this child of Yours wisdom, discernment, love, and firm boundaries, that he may honor his mother while not partnering with darkness. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7.

Father, we also bring this struggle with sexual addiction before You. We confess it as sin and we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Break these chains, Lord, for if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed John 8:36. Create in us a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within us Psalm 51:10. Teach our brother to flee from temptation, to make no provision for the flesh, to walk in the Spirit, and to pursue purity. Lead him to godly community, accountability, and counsel where he can walk in the light and be strengthened. Guard his eyes and his mind, and let him present his body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You. Where there are deep wounds or past influences that have fed this addiction, bring Your healing and restore what the enemy has tried to steal.

We pray for protection over others in his life who may also be under spiritual oppression, that You would expose every work of darkness and bring freedom and truth. We ask all of this according to Your will, in the name above every name, Jesus Christ our Lord, believing You hear us and You are faithful to deliver. Amen.

We encourage you to remain daily in the Word, to put on the whole armor of God Ephesians 6:11, to pray without ceasing, and to stay in fellowship with mature believers who can support you in both of these battles. God is able to set you free and to bring redemption and peace even in very difficult family situations as you continue to submit to Him and resist the enemy in Jesus' name.

We hear how heavy this has been, carrying worry for your mother while also wrestling with sexual addiction yourself. It makes sense you would feel stretched thin and want prayer for both.

We are praying for your mom's wellbeing and for wisdom for you and others who care about her. When behavior and beliefs feel so tangled, it can help not to carry the discernment alone. A trusted pastor who knows you both, alongside a qualified professional who can assess her emotional and behavioral health, can help you sort what is spiritual, what may need care, and what boundaries are loving and wise going forward. You do not have to figure that out by yourself.

Thank you for being honest about your own struggle and that there are deeper reasons behind it. Naming it is a brave step. Lasting freedom often grows with steady, confidential support rather than trying harder alone. If you do not already have that, one practical next step is to meet regularly with a pastor or Christian counselor and invite one faithful, same sex accountability partner or small recovery group to walk with you week by week. Having a safe place to unpack the why behind the pattern can make a real difference, and a counselor can help you do that at a healthy pace.

You are not alone in this and we are holding both needs before the Lord with you.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this son and his mother to You. Cover them with Your protection and peace, give clear wisdom for each next step, and lead him into greater freedom, healing and strength as he walks closely with You. Amen.

Your request has been heard with much heaviness of heart and has been carried before the throne of grace, where we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Concerning your mother, it is a grievous thing to see one who professes the name of Christ yet walks in confusion and in ways that wound those around her. Scripture teaches us that there is indeed a power of darkness, and that bondage under sin, bondage under the flesh, bondage to the world and bondage to the fear of man is the work of sin and of the devil. Yet we are also taught that our afflictions do not spring out of the dust, but the Lord Himself sits as a Refiner at the door of the furnace, and even that which comes through the malice of men or the assaults of the enemy may bear the blessed aspect of chastening from a Father's hand. We do not lightly speak of demonic influence, but we know this, that our deliverance from the power of darkness is as much the work of God as our deliverance from the guilt of sin, and we must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone for it. Our prayer for her is that the Lord, who is gracious and says, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, for I have found a ransom, would make that ransom, which is Christ Jesus alone, to be known to her in power. For salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. We pray that where there is wrong belief it may be corrected by the truth of the Word, that where there is bondage there may be true liberty, for if the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed, and that the enemy shall no longer be able to use her as an instrument of harm to others, but that she may be brought into the light and walk as a child of light.

Concerning yourself and the bondage of sexual addiction of which you speak with honesty, be assured that the Lord Jesus is able to save to the uttermost. He has taught many of His people the mischief that comes from loving the world and the things thereof, and He has delivered them from the fascinating power of sin. This deliverance is not wrought by our own power. We can never escape from the bondage of sin by our own strength. The bars of that dungeon we can never break. But God has not only invented a way of deliverance, He has found a ransom, and that ransom is His own Son. It is a gift of Divine Love. If He who held us in bondage has found a ransom, we may be certain of liberty. Yet we must not think to be delivered and still continue in that which enslaved us. You would fancy from the actions of some professors that they were not delivered from the power of darkness at all, but were only helped to keep away from some conspicuous sin. True deliverance brings a hatred of the sin itself and a fleeing from it. The Lord has ordained that sex and living together belong within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and outside of that holy ordinance every form of sexual sin brings bondage and death. There are reasons, as you say, why you struggle, and the Lord knows them all, but the way of escape is not to excuse the sin but to confess it, to turn from it, and to look to Christ for both pardon and power. We pray that you may outgrow this spirit of bondage and never receive it again, that you may know what it is to be kept from perishing by the sword and to have your soul kept back from the Pit.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, Thou art gracious and Thou hast found a ransom. Look in pity upon this mother and upon this dear soul who intercedes for her. Deliver from going down to the Pit. Translate from the power of darkness into the kingdom of Thy dear Son. Expose what is false, heal what is disturbed, and let truth and soundness of mind prevail by Thy Spirit and Thy Word. And for this Thy servant who confesses bondage to sexual sin, grant repentance without reserve, grant faith to lay hold on the blood of Christ for forgiveness, and grant power to walk in newness of life. Keep back his soul from the Pit and his life from perishing. Teach his feet to flee youthful lusts and to follow righteousness, faith, charity and peace. Make him to know experimentally that Thou hast delivered us, and to declare the works of the Lord while he lives. This we ask not by any merit of our own, but only through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is salvation. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing these burdens so honestly and for trusting us to pray with you. We have heard your concern for your mother and for your own struggle, and we take both seriously before the Lord.

We will pray for your mother. We ask God to bring clarity where there is confusion, truth where there are wrong beliefs, and peace where there is disturbance. Scripture teaches that our greatest need is deliverance from evil and the supply of good through Christ alone, who delivers us from the curse and brings us into adoption as sons and daughters through His Spirit. We pray that your mother, as one who professes faith in Christ, would be grounded in the truth of His word, that any influence of the enemy would be rebuked by the power of Jesus, and that those around her would be protected and given wisdom and love to respond with firmness and grace. We also pray for you as you navigate this difficult relationship, that God would give you discernment, healthy boundaries, and strength not to grow bitter but to remain faithful, remembering that God does not always promise immediate removal of hard trials, but He does promise to sustain us and teach us to stand above them with hope in the resurrection and eternal life.

We also hear your request to be set free from sexual addiction, and we will pray earnestly for your freedom. God created sex as good and holy within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and outside of that design it brings shame and harm rather than true joy. As one of the homilies reminds us, sin that we choose can make us lose shame and become like one who is not in his right mind, turning what was made for good into something that defiles. The pleasure of indulgence is brief, only for a moment, but the aftermath is oppression, heaviness, and sorrow. We do not ask God to bless the addiction itself, because He calls us out of it for our good. Instead we ask Him to set you free from it.

We pray that God would give you repentance and renewal, that He would cleanse your heart and mind and fill you with His Holy Spirit, and that you would receive the sonship that is yours in Christ. We pray for strength to turn away from temptation, for a hatred of the sin itself, and for a growing love for purity and wholeness. We encourage you to walk in the light with trusted Christian brothers or pastors, to seek consistent accountability, to immerse yourself in Scripture, and to pursue help within your local church, including pastoral counseling if needed. There are reasons and patterns behind this struggle, and God is compassionate toward you, but His compassion also calls you to leave behind what harms you and to walk in newness of life.

We are praying for you: that God would deliver you from evil, supply every good thing in Christ, guard your heart, and grant you victory day by day. May He give you hope in His better resurrection and the power to despise sin and death and to choose what is holy. May He bring healing to your family and freedom to you as you trust in Jesus alone for salvation and strength.

We will continue to lift you and your mother before the Lord.

Thank you for sharing what is on your heart with such honesty. I have prayed for you and for your mother and for the others you are concerned about, and I want to respond with both truth and hope from Scripture.

What you describe about your mother is painful to carry. When behavior becomes persistently destructive and emotionally unstable, and when wrong beliefs are held tightly even while professing faith in Christ, Scripture shows us that spiritual forces can be at work. The Bible teaches that unclean spirits can go forth and influence thoughts and words and actions, sometimes with great intensity, and that leaders and ordinary people alike can be misled or controlled when they open themselves to what is false. History also shows that some cruelty and deception cannot be fully explained apart from that kind of influence. At the same time the Bible is clear that Jesus has authority over every such power. When He cast out spirits, they had to leave, often with a cry, because they cannot stand before Him. The comfort for you is what John writes, that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. You do not need to be captured by fear or to have your faith diminished by what you see. You are called to watch, to keep your life clean before the Lord, and to stay close to Jesus who is coming again. Blessed is the one who watches and keeps his garments. That means walking in truth, staying under the covering of Christ, and continuing in prayer.

For your mother, pray that God would expose what is false and bring her into the light of His Word. A profession of faith must rest on the truth of who Jesus is and what He has done, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. Wrong teaching can give the enemy a foothold, and the enemy will use a person negatively in the lives of those around them. Pray for her deliverance, for a love of the truth, for repentance where needed, and for protection for those she influences. Ask the Lord to separate and seal His own, as He promises to keep those who belong to Him, and to make a way of deliverance where there seems to be no way. Scripture shows that God often leads His people into impossible places precisely so He can show His power to deliver, and then His people can sing a song of victory because He has triumphed gloriously.

For your own struggle, thank you for bringing it into the light. The sexual drive itself was created by God and is good within His design, but Scripture is very plain that sexual union belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and that outside of that it is to be fled from, not indulged. Paul writes that we are to let no sexual impurity or covetousness even be named among us as is fitting for saints, and to put away filthy talk and crude joking and instead give thanks. He warns plainly not to be deceived, that those who persist in sexual immorality have no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. He also reminds us that our bodies are members of Christ Himself, so we must not take what belongs to Christ and join it to what is impure. The call therefore is to flee sexual immorality, because in that union two become one, and the one who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

I understand you say there are reasons behind the struggle, and those reasons matter and deserve care and wise counsel, but they do not change God's call to purity. The good news is that God does not leave you to fight alone. He can make a way where there is no way, and He delights to set captives free. What often feeds this bondage is exposure to what inflames desire, especially pornography and sensual images, which stir urgency and make a person feel enslaved, harming families and all that is precious. If that is part of your battle, bring it fully into the light, cut off the source, and replace it with thanksgiving and with the renewing of your mind in Scripture. Seek accountable fellowship with faithful believers who will walk with you, and if needed seek pastoral counseling that honors biblical truth.

Let me pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I ask You to have mercy on this dear one and on his mother and on the others he loves. Expose every lie and every influence of the enemy, and let Your truth shine. Deliver this mother from what binds her, open her eyes to know Jesus truly, and protect those around her from harm. Lord, set this one free from sexual addiction. Forgive, cleanse, and give power to flee what is impure, to honor his body as belonging to You, and to walk in purity. Make a way where there seems to be no way, and fill his mouth with thanksgiving and a song of deliverance as You show Yourself strong. Keep him watching and faithful until You come. Amen.

Keep seeking the Lord daily in His Word, keep praying, and keep walking in the light with other believers who hold to Scripture. God is able to deliver and to keep you, and He hears when you call on Him.
