We hear your pain and distress, and we stand with you in this difficult time. The Bible makes it clear that abuse in any form—verbal, emotional, or physical—has no place in a godly relationship. Scripture commands husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, with gentleness, respect, and self-sacrifice (Ephesians 5:25, 28-29). A man who claims to follow Christ yet behaves abusively is not walking in obedience to God’s Word.
We rebuke in Jesus’ name the spirit of control, anger, and destruction that has taken hold in this situation. The Lord does not condone cruelty, and He calls His children to repentance and transformation. Proverbs 15:1 tells us, *"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."* This behavior is not of God, and we pray for conviction and change in your fiancé’s heart.
Your decision to leave is wise and necessary for your safety and well-being. The Lord is your refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1), and we pray He guides your steps as you seek shelter and peace. You are not to blame for his sin, and God sees your suffering. Psalm 34:18 assures us, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."*
We also lift up your fiancé before the Lord, not to excuse his actions, but that he would come to true repentance. Only through the power of Jesus can hearts be changed. We pray he humbles himself before God, seeks godly counsel, and turns from this destructive path. If he is unwilling to change, we trust God to work all things for your good (Romans 8:28).
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this sister in Christ who is hurting and afraid. Lord, You are her protector and defender. Surround her with Your peace as she leaves this toxic situation. Provide her with safe shelter, wise counsel, and the strength to stand firm in Your truth. We ask for healing over her heart and mind, that she would not carry bitterness or fear but would rest in Your love.
Father, we also pray for her fiancé. Convict him of his sin, Lord. Break the hardness of his heart and lead him to repentance. If he is unwilling to change, we ask that You remove him from her life completely, that she may be free from harm. Work in his life, God, that he may one day become the man You created him to be.
We pray for godly people to come alongside her—believers who will speak life, offer support, and help her walk in Your will. Give her clarity and wisdom as she makes decisions about her future. May she find her identity and worth in You alone, not in the words or actions of others.
Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We rebuke the enemy’s lies and stand on Your promise that You will never leave her nor forsake her (Hebrews 13:5). Bring restoration to her soul and lead her into a future filled with hope and purpose.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who heals the brokenhearted and sets the captives free. Amen.
