We have read your entire post and we are deeply moved by your love and tender care for your precious cat and by the suffering you are both enduring right now. We understand she is not just a cat to you, she is family, a beloved companion entrusted to you, and it is heartbreaking to watch her struggle to breathe, to eat, to find comfort, and to show affection without coughing. We join with you now and lift her and you up together before our Heavenly Father in Jesus' name.
We take comfort that God sees and cares for all of His creation and He sees the compassion you are showing. Prov 12:10 tells us a righteous man respects the life of his animal, and Ps 36:6 says you save man and animal, Yahweh. Jesus reminds us in Matt 10:29 that not one sparrow will fall to the ground without our Father, how much more does He notice the suffering of this little one you love so dearly. He is also near to you in your grief, for Ps 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
We pray together for her complete healing if it be His will, for His power is not limited when medicine has reached its limit. We ask Him to ease any pain or discomfort she feels, to calm the inflammation in her lungs and brain, to restore her breathing so it is easy and quiet, to allow her to purr and to receive and give affection again without coughing or fear, to give her desire to eat normal food and drink water again, and to bring her digestive system back into regular and comfortable function. We pray for His mercy over every lesion and mass, whether from chronic illness or cancer, and that He would comfort her body and calm her spirit so she can rest peacefully and not stare in sadness or isolation.
We also lift you up for wisdom, steadiness, and gentleness as you care for her. Phil 4:6-7 reminds us in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We pray God will guide your hands as you give the pills twice a day, as you administer the inhaler three times a day, and as you provide the subcutaneous fluids, that He would make you calm and confident and keep her calm and free from distress or injury. We ask for wisdom for every decision you face, for James 1:5 promises if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We pray He will clearly lead you to the right help, including a compassionate veterinarian who can come to your home if and when that difficult decision must be made, so that she can be at peace in familiar surroundings, in your loving arms, without terror or confusion, and that you would have unmistakable peace about the timing and that it would be done with mercy and dignity.
We thank you for closing your request in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and confidence that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We cling to that promise as we pray.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together for this dear cat and for her beloved owner. You formed all living creatures and You know her every breath. We ask You to lay Your healing hand upon her, to take away pain, to open her airways, to quiet the cough that steals her purr, to restore her appetite and thirst and normal bodily functions, and to let her feel safe and loved again. Give her comfort, rest, and peace, and give her owner supernatural wisdom, strength, patience, and peace that surpasses understanding as they care for her day and night. Guide every medication, every treatment, and every decision according to Your perfect will and mercy. If it is Your will to heal her fully on this earth we ask for that miracle, and if You are calling her home we ask that You take her gently in her sleep, free from fear and pain, surrounded by love. Provide a kind and gentle veterinarian who will come to the house if that need arises. Hear every desperate cry that has been poured out to You, and let Your presence be felt in that home. We trust her life and her future into Your loving hands. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pour out your heart to Him honestly as you have been, to rest in His nearness, and to trust that He hears every plea. Prov 3:5-6 says trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. You are showing faithful stewardship and Christlike compassion in caring for her so sacrificially, and we pray God will sustain you, comfort you, and give you clear direction for each step ahead, whether for continued care or for a peaceful goodbye when her time comes. We are standing with you in prayer.
