Urgent Prayer

Pray that a mental attack that I had back in ### with what appeared to be a black male student, I had been fantasizing about a guy I did not know him at all I saw him in a class at a college I attended, please pray that him and the rest of those college students and myself will be able to move on, amen.

We have heard your urgent request and we join you together before the Lord to bring this burden to Him. We understand you experienced a troubling mental attack some time ago in college involving a young man you did not know, and that you had been fantasizing about him, and now you desire that he and the other students and yourself can move on and find peace. We are praying with you for healing, cleansing, and freedom.

We want to gently and lovingly address what you have shared about fantasizing, because God cares about our thought life. The Lord Jesus taught us that lustful fantasizing is not a small matter, for everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:28. Even when we do not know a person, entertaining sexual fantasies about them is sin in the heart and it can open the door to torment, shame, and spiritual attack. God calls us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to think about whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure Philippians 4:8. We encourage you to confess this before the Lord, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. There is no condemnation for those who come to Him with a repentant heart, and He is able to renew your mind so that you may be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2.

We also hear your distress about a mental attack. The enemy seeks to accuse and to torment our minds, but God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. We pray for the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7 and we pray the same for that young man and for the other students you mentioned, that none of them would carry any lingering burden or harm from that time, and that the Lord would cover each of you with His grace and allow you all to move forward in wholeness.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, we ask You to forgive where there has been lustful thought and to cleanse the heart and mind by the blood of Jesus. Wash away guilt and shame and break every chain of torment and every lingering effect of that mental attack. Fill this mind with Your truth, Your purity, and Your peace. We ask that You touch that young man and the other students from that class, wherever they are now, and grant them Your protection, Your blessing, and Your peace as well, and help them to move on fully in life without any hindrance from the past. Renew our minds, Lord, and help us to fix our thoughts on what is pure and holy, and to walk in freedom and self control by Your Spirit. Lead us all forward in Your will and let no weapon formed against us prosper. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We want to share also that you closed your request with amen but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We say this in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. To be saved and to have our prayers heard, we must put our faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. We encourage you to be sure you are trusting in Jesus alone for forgiveness and for access to the Father, and to bring every prayer to God in His precious name, for there is power and peace in that name.

We encourage you to continue to walk with the Lord daily, to stay in His Word, to pray continually, and to guard your thought life by quickly turning from any fantasy and turning your mind to Christ. If troubling thoughts return, bring them immediately to Jesus and replace them with Scripture and prayer. Know that God is faithful to complete the healing He has begun in you and to grant you and those other students grace to move on fully.

We appreciate you sharing this so honestly. Wanting to move forward after an unsettling mental experience and unwanted fantasies takes humility, and we hear your care both for yourself and for the other students involved.

It is understandable that a moment like that from years ago can still surface and bring guilt or worry. Thoughts that come uninvited do not have to define who you are now, and the desire you express to move on is a healthy direction. Healing often happens gradually as we bring those memories to God and choose not to rehearse them, letting Him shape how we think about others and ourselves today.

One small practice that helps many people is to have a simple plan for when the memory returns. You might quietly acknowledge it to the Lord, ask for His peace, and then gently redirect your attention to what is present in front of you, whether that is work, study, or a conversation. If you find the thoughts continue to weigh on you, talking with a trusted pastor or counselor in person can provide extra support alongside prayer.

Father, we lift this person to You and ask for Your mercy and peace over him and over the students from that class. Quiet what still troubles his mind, help him walk in clarity and self control, and give each person involved the grace to move forward in a healthy way. Lead him close to You in the days ahead. Your request has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with care and with hope for your peace.

You speak of a mental attack and of thoughts that have troubled you concerning one whom you saw but did not know, and a desire that both you and those other students may be able to move on. This is a burden that many know, when the mind is tossed and the heart is not at rest. The word of the Lord meets such a case with a precious promise, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. There is a peace that is not found in forgetting or in mere time passing, but in staying the mind upon Christ.

True peace is not the stillness that Satan gives when conscience is made to lie quiet, crying Peace, peace where there is no peace. True peace is a blessing from the God of peace, purchased by the blood of Jesus and wrought in the soul by the Holy Spirit. Christ has left us peace in the conscience, for peace with God is the fountain and peace in the conscience is the crystal stream which issues from it. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and it is this blood which alone can make peace between a holy God and sinful men.

We would also remind you that charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and purity is not to be neglected. The Scriptures call us to be kept unspotted from the world, and to walk in holiness without which no man shall see the Lord. Fantasizing after one whom you do not know is not love, and it does not lead to peace. It unsettles the mind and defiles the heart. The Lord calls His people to separation in thought as well as in deed, to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Do not seek after peace first as though it were a qualification for grace. Seek after Christ first, and peace will come next.

So we pray for you, that the Lord will bless you with that peace which passes all understanding, that He would keep your mind stayed upon Himself and renew your peace day by day. We ask that He would cleanse your conscience through the atonement made on the cross, that He would give you a renewed heart and strength to turn from every wandering imagination and to fix your affections upon Him. We pray that He would grant you grace to move on in quietness and purity, to walk before Him in holiness and to find rest in doing His will.

We pray also for that young man and for the rest of those students, that the Lord in His mercy would keep them and you, though far apart, in Jesus keeping where you are safe, and that each one may be brought to know reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ, for there is no other name whereby we can be saved and no other foundation for lasting peace.

May the Lord, who is our peace, give you great peace as you love His law, and may you go in peace, with your mind stayed on Him who has vanquished sin and death and who calls His people to Heaven's perfect peace. Amen.

I have heard your request and I am praying with you. You have spoken honestly about a distressing experience in your mind involving a fellow student whom you did not know, and about fantasies that troubled you, and your desire now that both you and those other students may be able to move forward in peace. God hears such honest confession and He is ready to forgive and to heal.

Scripture teaches us that God has given us forgiveness for much greater things than we can measure, and in doing so He trains us to have a gentle and humble heart. When we come to Him through Jesus Christ alone, who is the only way of salvation, we receive not only pardon but also strength to be renewed in our thoughts. Part of that renewal is learning to turn away from fantasies and desires that do not belong to God's design, and to keep our minds and bodies pure. God created marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and He intends that sexual desire and intimate living belong only within that covenant. Any thought life outside of that, whether heterosexual or same sex, is something we are called to bring to Him in repentance and to leave behind.

So let us pray not that God would bless a fantasy, but that He would cleanse, restore and give you peace, and that He would grant the same grace to that young man and to the other students, whether they know of this struggle or not.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I ask for Your mercy upon the one who has brought this burden. Forgive every sin in thought and deed, wash the mind and heart, and grant freedom from this memory and from any mental oppression that followed it. Teach a new gentleness and self control, and help to take every thought captive to Christ. Grant peace to that other student and to all the students in that class, keep them from any harm, and allow each person to move on with a clear conscience and a quiet mind. Lead all of you into what is pure and holy, separate from what is unclean, and draw each heart to know Christ and to walk in His ways. Give strength for today and hope for the future, that there will be no ongoing account held for what has been confessed and forsaken. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, guard what you allow your mind to dwell on, and if these thoughts return, turn at once to Christ for help. He is faithful to forgive and to make you new, and He will give you grace to live with a clean heart and a steady mind.
