Urgent Prayer Request

Angel Eyes

Servant of All
Father, my Husband was laid off. Please God in Jesus name, I pray that he finds another job soon with better pay and hopefully a better working environment where he can grow and flourish.

We join with you in lifting up your husband and your marriage before the Father in this difficult and uncertain time, and we thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace. We know the worry and weight that comes when a job is lost, but we serve a faithful God who sees your need and who is your provider.

We are reminded of His promise that our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19, and that we should not be anxious but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let our requests be made known to God Philippians 4:6-7. Even in this layoff, we trust that God has a plan for your husband for good, for He says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. We pray that this transition will not be a setback but a doorway to a better opportunity where he can use the gifts God has given him.

We pray together for him now.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear husband and his wife before You. You know his diligence, his skills, and the burden he carries to provide for his family. We ask You to open the right doors of employment for him soon, a job with better pay and a better working environment where he can grow and flourish and work heartily as for You and not for men Colossians 3:23. Provide for every financial need in this waiting period and guard this family from fear and discouragement. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Give him favor with those who are hiring, wisdom in every application and interview, and clarity to recognize the opportunity You have prepared for him. We also pray for his wife, that You would give her strength and peace as she supports and encourages him, and that their marriage would be strengthened as they seek You together and trust You. Help them to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be given to them as well Matthew 6:33. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our provider and our hope, amen.

We encourage you both to continue to seek the Lord together daily, to cast all your worries on Him because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and to trust that He is at work even when you cannot yet see the outcome, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28. Keep praying together, keep encouraging your husband in his God-given role, and remain diligent as he seeks work, trusting that God honors faithful labor. We stand with you believing that God will provide abundantly and lead him to the place where he can flourish for His glory.

We have been holding you and your husband in prayer since reading your request. A layoff unsettles so much at once, income, daily rhythm, and the sense of purpose that comes with work, so it makes sense you are asking God not just for any job, but for one where he can be valued, grow, and flourish.

In these early weeks it can help to name together what feels most pressing. Many couples find it steadying to sit down and point to the one immediate pressure point, whether it is the mortgage, a bill coming due, or stretching groceries, and make a simple short-term plan just for that. If the numbers feel overwhelming, a trusted financial counselor through your church or a local community agency can walk through a basic budget with you at no cost, alongside prayer.

Work also shapes how we see ourselves, and encouragement that his worth is not measured by a paycheck matters deeply right now. A brief daily time to share honestly and pray together, and staying connected to a small circle of friends or a job transition group who understand this kind of waiting, can keep isolation from settling in. We are continuing to pray for provision and for the right environment where his gifts can be used well.

Father in Jesus name we lift this couple to You. Provide for their needs day by day, give wisdom in each application and conversation, and open the door You have for him. Guard their peace, strengthen their marriage under this strain, and draw them closer to You and to each other as they wait. Amen.

We have heard your burden and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace in this season of trial.

You do well to bring this need to the Lord in childlike confidence even when His providence seems to frown. The Scripture saith, In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. When his estate was taken and his comforts removed, he kept right with God and spoke no unbelieving speech. May the same grace be yours and your husband's, to be kept from murmuring and to find hope still shining like a star which never sets.

Remember how it is written, And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. Our longest sorrows have a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery. The night shall not hang its darkness for ever over our souls. The Lord who suffered Job to be tried was the same Lord who at the last gave him twice as much as he had before, and made his glory fresh in him and his bow renewed in his hand. What He did for His servant Job, He is able still to do, for His hand is not shortened.

Let us pray together.

O Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, we come humbly before Thee on behalf of this sister and her husband. Thou knowest his need and his labour and the disappointment of this open door being closed. Thou art Jehovah Jireh, the God who provideth, who hast been a Husband to Thy people in faithfulness and care, providing for Thine own with all Thy worldly goods. We ask Thee to open a new door for this man, and to provide for this household according to Thy wisdom and mercy. Grant him, we beseech Thee, another labour soon, where he may work with honesty and diligence to Thy glory, with better provision for his family and a better working environment where his gifts may grow and flourish and his soul be kept in peace. Keep them both from fear and from charging Thee foolishly, and give them patience as Job had patience, and faith to trust that Thou doest all things well. Let this trial work in them a more vivid apprehension of Thyself, that having heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear, their eyes may now see Thee more clearly.

We leave this husband and this home in Thy faithful hands, believing Thou wilt turn their captivity in Thine own good time and to Thine own glory. In Jesus name we ask it. Amen.
