Urgent Prayer Request

Angel Eyes

Servant of All
Father, my Husband was laid off. Please God in Jesus name, I pray that he finds another job soon with better pay and hopefully a better working environment where he can grow and flourish.

We join with you in bringing your husband and your marriage before the throne of grace and we thank you for coming to the Father in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to God and hope in times of trial.

We know how heavy a layoff can feel, with uncertainty about provision and the future, yet we are reminded that God sees your family and He is faithful to provide for His children. We love your prayer that God would not only open a door for employment but that it would be a better opportunity with better pay and a healthier environment where your husband can use the gifts God has given him to grow and flourish. That is a good and godly desire, for God delights in giving good things to His children and in establishing the work of our hands.

Scripture encourages us to trust Him in this season. Philippians 4:19 reminds us, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Matthew 6:33 tells us, But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. And Proverbs 16:3 says, Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. We also cling to Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Even when a job is lost, God has not lost sight of His plan for your husband and for your marriage, and Romans 8:28 assures us that God works all things together for good for those who love him, for those who are called according to his purpose.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear sister and her husband to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know his diligence, his skills, and the disappointment of this layoff. We ask You to comfort his heart and guard him from discouragement, and to comfort his wife as she stands beside him in love and support. Lord, we ask You to open the right door of employment soon, a job that honors You, where he can work heartily as for You and not for men as Colossians 3:23 teaches, where he will be valued, where he can grow and flourish and provide for his family. Provide for every financial need in this waiting period, show Your hand as Jehovah Jireh, and let this trial strengthen their marriage and their trust in You. Give him favor with employers, wisdom in every application and interview, and peace while he waits on Your perfect timing. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our provider and our hope, amen.

We encourage you both to continue to seek the Lord together daily, to commit each resume and each opportunity to Him in prayer, and for your husband to be diligent and steadfast as he seeks work, trusting that his labor is not in vain in the Lord. Support one another in this time, speak life and encouragement over each other, and keep your eyes on Christ who has promised never to leave nor forsake you. Psalm 37:25 says, I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread. God is faithful and He will make a way. Continue to pray together in Jesus' name and trust that He hears and will answer according to His perfect will and timing.

We were sorry to hear your husband was laid off. We know how unsettling that sudden loss can be, and we are praying with you for steady provision and for the right next door to open for him.

It is understandable to feel a lot at once. Work often carries a sense of identity and purpose, so losing a job can feel like losing more than income. It can bring discouragement and questions about the future, and it can put extra strain on a marriage as you both try to stay hopeful while facing real financial questions. Please know you are not alone in carrying this.

Something that helps many couples in this season is to sit down together early this week and name the one most pressing financial pressure point, whether that is the mortgage, health coverage, or another bill, and make a short term plan for it together. It also helps to build a simple daily rhythm for the job search, with set time for applications and networking and protected time for rest, family and encouragement. Staying connected with a few trusted people at church or a small group who can listen and keep praying with you can make the waiting less isolating.

Father, we lift this husband to You and ask for Your provision and guidance as he looks for work. Give him and his wife wisdom, peace and unity in the days ahead, and provide for their needs as only You can. Lead him to work where he can use his gifts well and be encouraged. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Your sorrow has been laid before the Lord and we have carried it with you to the throne of grace. We join you in prayer to our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access and salvation, that He would in His mercy provide for your husband and for your household in this season of trial.

We know how heavy such a burden feels, when daily bread and future prospects seem uncertain. Our Saviour bids us not to be anxious about temporal affairs, not to be fretted and worried as though God had forgotten His children. Anxiety, as you have heard, brings no grist to the mill and unfits us to meet the difficulty, but childlike confidence befits those who know that their Father knows what they have need of. Be prudent and diligent in all lawful means, and cast your care upon Him who cares for you.

Remember patient Job, who lost all and yet sinned not nor charged God foolishly, and who in his ashes still trusted the Lord. The same God who suffered Job to be tried turned again his captivity when he prayed. Our longest sorrows have a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery when God has accomplished His end in them, which is to show His faithfulness and to defeat the enemy. He is able to uphold you now as He upheld Job then, and to renew your strength as He renewed his bow in his hand.

Let us pray together. O Lord God, our Husband and Provider, who endows Your people with good things and communes with them in love, look upon this family in their need. Provide for this husband, we beseech You, an open door to honest labour where he may provide for his household, with better pay and a better working environment where he may grow and flourish and do all to Your glory. Grant him favour in the eyes of those who hire, wisdom to walk uprightly, and patience to wait upon Your providence. Keep this wife and husband from fretting, and knit them more firmly together in that lifelong covenant of marriage which You have ordained, that in all things they may seek first Your kingdom. Grant this for Jesus sake, in whose name we pray, Amen.
